PR, I have. You insist on either avoiding what I’ve said, and going back to the same point over and over or asking “how do you know?” about everything I’ve said. That is not a conversation. You’re just wanting to argue no matter what is addressed to you. I was reading through the last scriptural discussion you had with Byzantine_Wolf several weeks ago and you did the exact same thing in your discussion with him.
Yes. Neither of you have been able to offer any thoughtful refutation.

I have asked, ad nauseum, how it is that you know that Hebrews is inspired.

You have only answered with a nebulous “external evidences” response, and when pressed to give a more trenchant answer, have not not even acknowledged the question.

Your answer will be telling: either you have some sort of criterion for discerning what’s theopneustos and what’s not…and can share it with us…

or you must say: I defer to the infallible authority of the Catholic Church.

Which means you must abandon your Sola Scriptura roots.

And you must acknowledge the Sacred Tradition.

And that the charism of infallibility has been given to the Church.

You do not wish to do this, yet, so you will now create some sort of “I must leave, dear friend, because you are argumentative” nonsense.

There is nothing at all argumentative about my posting style. I simply respond, and press you for answers. 🤷

I didn’t say I was done disagreeing with you oh fan of them who couldn’t beat the hated Patriots 😛
Low-blow, my friend, low-blow…
I’m not misinformed about Catholicism. On this topic…it’s unscriptural and illogical.
But you have failed to demonstrate as much…
Anyway, glad you’re here but please keep in mind this is a Catholic forum, so please don’t try to proselytize or mock our faith. We get enough of that outside this forum.

Hey, I was rooting for them…

I have asked numerous questions and have not gotten a response. I know full well what the magisterium teaches on this subject. Disagreement does not imply a lack of understanding.

I have not and will not proselytize. Disagreement with you is no more mocking than your disagreement with me. I find the denigration of the word by comparing it to the reliability of the Qu’ran mocking. I would be remiss not to point out that impiety.

There was no comparison of anything to the Koran, Gaelic.

It was a simple question. One of many that you have not addressed.

In a round about way 🙂 He attests to the NT and grants revelation to the writers of the NT.

Absolutely. All Christians. Not just a hierarchy.
And yet Jesus never wrote anything down; never committed anything to paper, nor did He tell His Apostles to do so. He told His Apostles to go out teach all that He had taught, which is what the Church has been divinely commissioned to do, and what she had strived to do. Jesus also said that upon the Rock of Peter He would build His Church. There neccessarily needs to be a visible hierarchy if what Jesus taught is to be taught in a unified manner.

I understand that non-Catholics have difficulty accepting this.

They believe they are.

Shouldn’t there be an authority who determines what is or is not Christianity?
Yes they do. They. cannot demonstrate so.

Yes, the church making such statements is good. In your paradigm, its not beneficial unless its infallible. I dont share that view.

Would you consider that your determination that Mormons and JW’s are not Christian to be infallible? Or do you hold the possiblility that you could be in error about this?
Scripture is quite clear on the matter.

And yet both ‘inerrant’ and ‘infallible’ are defined as being free from error. Do you make a distinction between the two?
Yes. Inerrant means without error. Infallible means not capable of error. Anything infallible will always be inerrant, but the reverse is not true. You are not infallible in mathematics. You could score 100% on a math test, making you inerrant on that test.

Do you mean that you hold that you could be wrong in some of your interpretation of scripture?

Yes, I certainly could.
Which is why we need a good professor to teach and correct our papers, if we are math students. We can possibly teach ourselves math, but if we want to really advance, we take a course, and we put trust and faith in our instructor to take us in the proper direction. We assume that the math instructor knows more than we do, especially if we take calculus, or some other difficult math. Just as some of us put our trust in a hierarchy to guide in the right direction for the sake of our immortal souls. And how much more important are our souls than a math skill?

Your analogy is a fair one, Denise, and I can respect it. The Scriptures say that we have been given evangelists, teachers, etc., to instruct us in the faith. As with your analogy, your professor does presumably know more about mathematics than you…he is not infallible at it though. Nor does he have to be in order to instruct you. He is still subject to the science that is his profession. In the same way, those who have been put over us as elders and deacons are stil subject to the God-breathed Scriptures.
