Please what do you think?.. some people are more important to God than others? …

Noone is more important to God than anyone else. Our importance is shown in the statement that even if one of us had been the only sinner in the world Jesus still would have died on the cross to save us.

Romans 9:15
Would suggest some research on the meaning of the word “hate” in the original word here.

From what I understand, a literal translation is “Jacob have I loved, Esau have I loved less.”

Has nothing to do with the import of each person.

“To God? No. Some people have a bigger role to play in the world, but God loves everyone equally.”*

Ummm, these two can’t go together. Not that I can see, anyway. Which is it? Are we all “important” or are we all “loved”? And which would you rather be?Or is **all **inappropriate, and only some/a few/most are loved/important?

John chapter 13 verse 23 (NIV) says:

"One of them, the disciple whom Jesus loved, was reclining next to him. "

Does this mean that Jesus did not love the others?

You can go back to the idea of the Hebrews as God’s chosen people.

There is deep Scripture study here, study of the language and the entire history of God’s relationship with the human race.

We know that “God so loved the world” that He sent His only Son to die. For me, that is enough.

Wow, did it actually say that? I can’t believe I missed it (I am not being sarcasting btw) I kind of knew it subconsciously, but didn’t think that was explicitly mentioned, it just goes to show, how much love there was 😦

Do you have the specific passage?

I’m not sure I’d use the word “important”, but another question:

Do you think Jesus loves his mother? In a different way than he loves you or me?

It’s not a scripture passage but it is the truth.

IMHO, that statement is a bit off. The only time there was just one sinner in the world was in the time that passed between the moment Eve ate the fruit and when Adam took the bite.

I would explain it like this, Christ was willing to die for every sinner. God is not willing that ANY should perish, but that all should have the gift of eternal life.

Jesus would have died on the Cross if only one sinner were ever going to accept that gift.

Mary was lucky to have been given the leading role. God loves her more than the average catholic.

Hmm, if God decides that to be the case, I suppose? I’m not sure anyone will know that unless they are graced with the beatific vision and that is revealled?

Though God has indicated there are those who chose to be less important.
"I know your works; I know that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either cold or hot.
So, because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.
Rev 3;15,16

God chose the Jews to be the race that would provide the DNA for God to take on the form of a human. Many Jews believed that they were “better” than everyone else. That was their definition of the word “chosen”. Because of their sin of pride, many of the Jews thought they were going to receive this chosen status from God in the form of preferential treatment. That is one of the main reasons they could not accept Christ. He did not give them an earthly kingdom where all the Jews could rule the world.

When God chose Mary from among all the Jews he chose the woman who was humble. She never bragged about being the mother of God and she led a very simple life. All the other “chosen one’s” who did not lead a humble life were no better off than those of us who were not born into the chosen race.

Remember the mother of two of the apostles who wanted her sons to be the “chosen ones” and sit at God’s right and left side forever in heaven? Jesus told her that “the first shall be last and the last shall be first” It is better to take the worst seat at a banquet rather than the preferred seats. Humility is a very difficult concept for us to understand. We will only be important when we learn humility. If you worry about being important you are not practicing humility.

^ Humility or not, its obvious that Mary is a gazillion times more important to God than you are. 😃

We humans can not think like God.
You are as important to God as his mother Mary. Right at this moment he is holding you and his “Godly heart” is pounding and pouring out a “gazillion” gallons of love for you. In God’s language, the amount “gazillion” is unending, eternal, etc. He doesn’t have a measuring spoon. He will never say this is all the love I am going to give you today. If gazillion means eternal, then there is no difference between His love for Mary and His love for you.
