I think it is safe to assume they also only wear one sock…that would completely explain the “missing sock” syndrome that everyone here has experienced! Clearly, the socks are getting “abducted” by the aliens! But just one of each type.

Mind: Why? Most reasonable answer is biological studies. How they traveled? Not by ordinary means, only way to cover that sort distance without the time involved (which the crew would die of old age) is I think the term is sub-dimensionally or inter-dimensionally. They would have to have a way to bend space-time.

I admit there could be aliens; the scale of the cosmos makes that a definite possibilty. I do not, however, believe in visitations or abductions. That same scale makes them wildly unlikely.

I believe you, really I do. I’ve had many years of experiances with the aliens that I am related to, the fang and claw type, and they all live in Tacoma. Honest. They’re the stuff that horrible nightmares are made of, for sure.

If UFOs are alien spacecraft then the possible reasons for abducting people can cover a wide spectrum, from long-term study of certain humans, to performing experiments on humans. It doesn’t matter, really. The last serious individual to have a book published about these people did not call them abductees but “experiencers.” Unless questioned by experts, people who claim to have had contact with aliens could be asked leading questions or have suggestions made to them. If aliens exist, they may simply regard us as more like insects compared to their (assumed) vast intelligence.

And just like an eminent scientist once said that powered flight by man in an aircraft was impossible, the possibility of a faster than light space drive is out there. I believe that is more possible than aliens on earth today.

Otherwise, the next rational explanation is it is a covert operation wherein some organization has the technology and they are using it for sinister purposes to conduct experiments on the public without them knowing it.

But creatures from another galaxy flying here to do genetic experiments on humans and the flora and fauna of earth is really a long shot. But maybe that’s how those aliens roll. They are expanding their gardens and zoos in their galaxy and they want samples from earth so they can show their children what earth kids and earth animals look like.

Time is not an issue for spirit beings, since they have no physical body to be affected by entropy. A pseudobody (or faux starship) lasting 45 minutes is no more difficult than one that is seen momentarily.

Though I agree that this is a greater possibility then visitors from a distance planet, allow me to play devil’s advocate with it.

Suppose they are works of demons, why? Why in the shape of starship? As others stated for themselves, the possible belief in the existence of ETs does not hurt their belief in God, so what’s the motive? Demons only want to pull people away from God, this sideshow of theirs seems benign to that directive. Also, why are they able to do this? If they were always able, then why not in the past or in different forms?

Personally, I’m leaning towards shadow government projects, highly likely it’s tech that was expounded on through scientists from operation paperclip. Certainly possible given the fact that the USAF was always stonewalling project blue book in their investigations.

While some may not see a conflict between aliens and belief in God, many others will trust “aliens” over “religion” if there seems to be a conflict. I am thinking of the abduction and other “intimate” experiences, rather than just UFO sightings.

The starships would just be for verisimilitude, since if the “aliens” had (pseudo)bodies, they would be expected to need a (faux) ship to make the journey.

As with psy ops in wartime, not every deception works on everybody. Some people are led astray by carnal sin; some by drugs; some by mind-traps such as atheism; some by such things as astral projection. And for some, “encounters with aliens” are an effective bait.
