Pro-abortion is a misleading term. Most people in the world aren’t “pro-abortion”, as in most people in the world don’t give a thumbs up to a girl who’s getting an abortion and tell her “You go girl”. There are some people like this, but not everyone who is pro-choice (to use the political term) is like this.[/qoute]
The church, correctly so in my opinion, profoundly disagrees with you. That is why Pope Paul VI specifically forbade church officials from using the term pro-choice as it dignifies a position that is indefensible. It doesn’t matter whether somebody gives a girl who is have an abortion a thumbs up or not-the child is dead regardless. If you support the legality of abortion you are pro-abortion.
I was typing too fast, and I meant to explain the Catechism’s stance on the issue. It’s that being pro-choice/pro-abortion itself is enough to damage someone’s communion with the Church. But being gay doesn’t make anyone more or less in good standing with the Church.
