EWTN is missing something then:
Here.
And here.

EDIT: Not that it was a massive protest, obviously. Just pointing out that if EWTN actually said that the gay community wasn’t present, they were incorrect.
I just came on this thread to respond to that post too! BBC have linked to pictures of the gay protest.

(Warning: contains images of two men kissing, those of a nervous disposition may find it startling)

Their parents must be very proud of them, don’t you think?

Just look at their sons-honoring their Mother & Father.
Bringing ______________ down upon themselves.

Would it be Grace, do you think? After all, was it Grace that God showered down on Sodom?

God does not change. The world changes. God is the same today, as He was yesterday, and will be tomorrow.

Same God-Same Laws.
He has been very patient with this Generation.
But, like any Loving Father-eventually, through His Love for us, He will bring us back to Himself.

That is, after allowing us to wallow in the filthy sewer of sin we have made for ourselves.

God Bless our Holy Father! Viva La Papa!

God Bless you.

EWTN didn’t mention the gay community at all. 😉 I’m glad they didn’t. All that was shown was the incredible beauty of the basilica and the inspiring ceremony.
I can go to secular news for the other stuff.

homosexuals, and tneir acvocates will NEVER REPENT , Their Goal , and the goal of pro-abortion catholics is to change the Church into a Moral Sewer. I think its about time for the Pope
and his bishops to Remove the Evils of homosexuality and pro-abortion catholics from Roman Catholicism?
How can you say that? You need to trust the depths of God’s mercy, we don’t know what God can accomplish in these people before all is said and done. You should make it your daily job to lift all of these people to the Sacred Heart of Our Lord everyday and pray for their conversions. Our Lord came to save sinners. Pray that they receive the grace they need to respond to His love and mercy by repenting of their sins and leading lives of interior holiness. This is what we need, not more despair and condemnation.

As for your second point, the Holy father has stated it may well be time for the Church to return to the size of a mustard seed. However, we should never give up Hope.

The church rightly rejects the use of anyterm other than pro-abortion to describe people who believe abortion should be legal. Tying infanticide up in nice little ribbons and euphemisms does not change the abject evil being supported by those who directly support abortion either by their action or their votes.
Pro-abortion is a misleading term. Most people in the world aren’t “pro-abortion”, as in most people in the world don’t give a thumbs up to a girl who’s getting an abortion and tell her “You go girl”. There are some people like this, but not everyone who is pro-choice (to use the political term) is like this.

But that wasn’t the point of my post.
People who support abortion should also be treated with kindness and no unjust discrimination as should all.sinners.
I was typing too fast, and I meant to explain the Catechism’s stance on the issue. It’s that being pro-choice/pro-abortion itself is enough to damage someone’s communion with the Church. But being gay doesn’t make anyone more or less in good standing with the Church.
It is important make a difference between same-sex attraction and homosexual behavior. Although both are didordered the former is not a sin in itself. When you use the term gay or homosexual most people assume you are talking about people who engage in homosexual behavior. If you aretalking about people who are afflicted with same-sex attraction you should say so and you will find much, much more agreement to your comments than you do now as many of us are misunderstanding just what it is you are defending.
I would think it’s obvious that the term “gay” would mean someone who has same-sex attractions and that’s it. I can’t see anyone mistaking me saying “My Monsignor is straight” as meaning he has a wife and 2 kids, so how would saying someone is a homosexual carry any extra connotation?

But for simplicity’s sake, whenever I say “gay people” or “homosexuals” on this forum, I mean people who are attracted to the same gender. Whenever I say “homosexual acts”, I specifically mean the sin of…well…homosexual acts.
It is difficult for many people the first time they run across unapologetic defense of the teachings of the church.
I doubt wanting the Church to expel all of its gay members is a defense of what the Church teaches. That’s what the person I was responding to was advocating. People on this forum are good at distinguishing between gays and people who commit homosexual acts, and the person I quoted said “homosexuals” and left it at that. It’s safe to assume that he was talking about gays in general, including the faithful and chaste Catholics who are gay.

The church, correctly so in my opinion, profoundly disagrees with you. That is why Pope Paul VI specifically forbade church officials from using the term pro-choice as it dignifies a position that is indefensible. It doesn’t matter whether somebody gives a girl who is have an abortion a thumbs up or not-the child is dead regardless. If you support the legality of abortion you are pro-abortion.

I watched in awe as our idefatigable pontif, through a Papal Bull, elevated the status of the Temple of the Holy Family in Barcelona to that of a Basilica, and I was so proud to be Roman Catholic in viewing the glorious archetecture of the new Basilica, and in listening to the magnificent choral arrangements of the music of the faith being sung so sublimely. We are the inheritors of such a rich spiritual and cultural legacy, which I believe we too often take for granted.

As for radical homosexual activism somehow being capable of any substantive negative impact on the greater church is more a media fabrication than an actual state of affairs. Surely, they can be disruptive, creating a spectacle where reverence would be more appropriate. But, somehow they always seem to end up shedding light on the disordered nature of their cause. They always appear sacrlegious, carnal, and like a group that holds up chaos and anarchy as some sort of new ideal.

When sin unmasks itself, and when those who oppose Jesus Christ come out from the shadows, into the light, the distortion of the truth no longer can hold its illusion. The symbol of the kiss in this instance is not representative of love, rather it is a profane prelude to the fornication which forms the core of this lifestyle, and this political/social movement. It is an argument for sin, nothing more.

Every person I know, of this alternative lifestyle, and that would be many, love to attract attention to themselves. I think it is part of the makeup of this condition.

They especially like to draw attention about their, ahem, preference. The more bizarre, the better. This is part of the overall “thrill”.

They should be ignored. That would be the worst thing anyone could do. But, of course, they won’t. They will get all the attention they want.

as if this is going to shock the pope. please, this stuff has been going on in our seminaries for the past 40 years.

seriously though, why don’t these people stage a kiss-in in saudi arabia, where they truly hate homosexuals. what a bunch of hypocrites, they ask for tolerance and respect but don’t show the pope the same. i guess they don’t believe in do onto others

The teaching of the Catholic Church is not going to be changed any time soon, especially if they put on this kind of immature display which is actually trying to be offensive to the Pope.
The teaching of the Catholic Church will never change.

Believe that if you will. I know people who support the legality of abortion, but who would not have one, nor encourage anyone to have one. When my wife was helping operate a alternatives-to-abortion clinic, she encountered some pro-choicers who, like her, opposed abortion, but who believed that it was up to the woman, not the state, to make the choice.

I’ve noticed that abortion was not a major issue in this last election, and I believe that it will not be one in '12.

You believe the Churtch is wrong I don’t. Are they likewise wrong about the Ressurection or asre they only wrong when they differ from your political views?

I wasn’t aware that the use of the term “pro-choice” was a doctrinal issue. As you yourself said, “Pope Paul VI specifically forbade church officials from using the term pro-choice.” His admonition to officials doesn’t equate to an ex cathedra declaration.

Looks, like this “flash mob” protest, had their flash out shone by the Guiding light of Jesus. As Only 200 people turned up to protest. Their were over 250,000 people there for the dedication.

As the Holy Father traveled down the road, the Dudes puckered up=photo op.

I mean, come on…like you said, it’s probably hard to shock him (our Beloved Pope).

I believe most Popes, if not all have mystical experiences. He’s probably witnessed the Devil, in person, some time or another. After THAT, nothing would compare. Think about it. This is why St. Padre Pio was so strong…he actually wrestled with Satan all night long.

I believe Pope John Paul II may’ve (at least) seen the Blessed Virgin Mary—if not more (like spoken with her, and had ongoing ~at least~ locutions, if not apparitions). And-more than once.

'Tis just a hunch. My humble opinion, based upon prayerful observations.
One day, we’ll know all truths.

God Bless you.

One more reason for me NOT to visit Spain…that and paella as well as most Spanish food, barbaric animal torture in the form of bull fights, running of bulls, and Prime Minister Zapatero.

The teaching of the Catholic Church will never change.
You see, that’s where you’re wrong. It taught that laypeople should not be allowed to read the Bible, it taught that only Latin masses should be allowed, it taught that the world was only made 6,000 years ago and initially surpressed evidence that it was not.

Sure those relate to tradition and not beliefs based on Scipture, but its proof that the Catholic Church does change with the times to an extent.

Oh really? That’s news to me.
