Or if you strike a child in anger, or expose the buttocks of a teenager, etc. It’s not just one element that has the potential of creating sin.

If a daughter who is past puberty, in particular, complains to an adult that her father made her pull her pants down and expose her bare buttocks, yes. That is highly inappropriate.

See your quote in the post above. I have no idea why anyone would do this – you seemed to think it might teach respect.

So you were saying “it might be worth spanking the bare bottom to teach disrespect”? I’m not sure exactly what that means.

No, I’m saying it’s wrong and will land you a call from CPS. You then said that parents had the right to spank their minor children, and then said that if a teenager was being disrespectful, “it might be worth it” to spank them on their bare bottom.

I’m not sure where you got the idea I thought it was OK to spank children on their bare bottoms – I don’t think it’s OK to spank them at all. I’ve never understood how something that would be a crime if you did it to an adult is somehow acceptable because it’s a child.

Ah, I see you’ve now changed your statement.

It is not a sin to spank your children as long as excessive force is not used.
I’d say it’s not just excessive force that’s the issues, but whether the punishment is appropriate to what actually happened. It’s unfortunately not uncommon for some parents to spank because the child is upsetting or frustrating them, which may not indicate that the child did something wrong.
