Spend more time in prayer than in debating with strangers.

Watch how you use your time!

(I hope this topic only applies to a very few of us, but just in case ...)

I've SLOWLY come to notice that I am wasting far too much time sitting at the computer, mostly defending the faith -- all the while trying to avoid the prideful tendency to want to win an argument rather than simply saying what I feel needs to be said.

After Mass today I exchanged a few sentences with an acquaintance (who is becoming a friend, possibly). We agreed that much time spent online is nothing but a distraction from what really matters: our spiritual growth.

What I feel I ought to be doing is spending at least the same amount of time in prayer as I do debating strangers on Facebook. I have learned to try not to watch too many controversial videos, but some of these political things in Canada ... well it gets tough.

My caution: pay more attention to prayer and spiritual reading (even if you are reading online) than you do on debating strangers, or just allowing yourself to get upset, on the computer.

Dominus vobiscum, Reg

Bear in mind that the internet is the playground of sociopaths and psychopaths. All manner of personality/thought disorders have free rein to stalk, harass, and offend at zero cost to them. There is a new category of disorder called iPredopath. These, especially, need our prayers.
Online Psychopaths [aka, iPredopaths] is an Information Age criminology and human consciousness concept replacing classic sociopathy and psychopathy constructs. iPredopathy is a characterological disorder describing online users who skillfully use cyberspace to troll, victimize, control and manipulate other online users. Driven by grandiosity, a need for power or sexual perversion, they experience minimal to no remorse or guilt. Many iPredopaths do not break the law and live unscathed by law enforcement, fraternal organizations, religious institutions and the legal system.
They infest nearly all conversations at some point, but the area of religion really draws them. YouTube is infested with them. I spend at least some time daily reporting their stalking and harassment to YouTube. Sooner or later, something is done.
