But should we not at least be happy that she is at least in Christ’s Church? Who knows what will happen when she is faced with her own mortality and slips this mortal coil.
She is not “in Christ’s Church.” Heresy separates one from the fold as does schism. She is notorious for both. But should we not at least be happy that she is at least in Christ’s Church? Who knows what will happen when she is faced with her own mortality and slips this mortal coil.
I guess you can’t win with you. First, you want to make sure one is familiar with SJC’s writings first hand if someone challenges the position SJC holds, and when they are, you wonder why they are familiar with her writings.I am curious too why you have read her so much if you find her writings agitating and distasteful?
Come on! It’s no secret that she claims to be Catholic while publicly advocating a position in clear opposition to the teachings of the Church. You don’t have to be an official voice of the Church to see that this is wrong and scandalous. Is she speaking as an official voice of the Church? Has she claimed to speak as an official voice of the Church?
Bingo.Come on! It’s no secret that she claims to be Catholic while publicly advocating a position in clear opposition to the teachings of the Church. You don’t have to be an official voice of the Church to see that this is wrong and scandalous.
I’m not an official voice of the Church either, but that does not give me the green light to publicly say, “Hey, I’m a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, and I’m here today to teach that adultery is morally licit.”
Cardinal Maida of Detroit did something similar. Sr. Joan was scheduled to speak at a parish in Detroit. He forbade the use of Church property for any event she participates in.A Catholic bishop that does not want a Catholic nun to be associated with his diocese – I’d say that’s a NUCLEAR BOMB.
So she resorts to speaking at an Anglican church? Yet another bomb.
I find it mind boggling that you have her, and then on the other hand, you have Fr. Larry Richards (he’s your pastor, right? I’m jealous). I remember when Fr. Larry gave a mission at my parish, he mentioned his spiritual advisor, who’s name also happened to be Sr. Joan, and he made a point to emphasize that she was NOT Sr. Joan Chissiter (sp?), and did not hide his disdain for her (SJC, not his spiritual advisor). How do you think I feel being a part of the diocese that houses her and her order?
He is my pastor, and I have noticed the same thing. Amazing, isn’t it?I find it mind boggling that you have her, and then on the other hand, you have Fr. Larry Richards (he’s your pastor, right? Oops, sorry for hijacking the thread!

The first picture I grant you, she looks fired up. The group picture I don’t see anything wrong or ‘unfeminine’ about the ladies.my first thought is that those nuns (without habit) look like angry man hating feminists.
There is something female lacking from their appearance that I find disturbing.
In that first picture all I see is a woman that has nothing but contempt in her eyes.
Probably about the same as I do for being in the diocese that houses the National Catholic Reporter (Kansas City, MO).How do you think I feel being a part of the diocese that houses her and her order?
Then we can pray togetherProbably about the same as I do for being in the diocese that houses the National Catholic Reporter (Kansas City, MO).![]()
I agree. Her disobedience and pride just streams out of her pores. I once saw her on television in the 80’s shaking her fist and screaming about our Holy Father. I thought she was more in need of an exorcism than anything else.I am sorry but to me, her message borders on demonic.
The mere fact that a “demand” is made by those who call for the ordination of women is a telling point. It bespeaks a complete misunderstanding of the nature of the Sacrament of Holy Orders, and Sr. Joan is one of the most strident propagators of this misunderstanding. To demand admittance to the Sacrament of Holy Orders shows me that what is loved is not service, but rather power.
