But should we not at least be happy that she is at least in Christ’s Church? Who knows what will happen when she is faced with her own mortality and slips this mortal coil.

She is not “in Christ’s Church.” Heresy separates one from the fold as does schism. She is notorious for both.

I am curious too why you have read her so much if you find her writings agitating and distasteful?
I guess you can’t win with you. First, you want to make sure one is familiar with SJC’s writings first hand if someone challenges the position SJC holds, and when they are, you wonder why they are familiar with her writings.

Irenaeus

Is she speaking as an official voice of the Church? Has she claimed to speak as an official voice of the Church?
Come on! It’s no secret that she claims to be Catholic while publicly advocating a position in clear opposition to the teachings of the Church. You don’t have to be an official voice of the Church to see that this is wrong and scandalous.

I’m not an official voice of the Church either, but that does not give me the green light to publicly say, “Hey, I’m a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, and I’m here today to teach that adultery is morally licit.”

Bingo.

Back to the topic of my OP.

It is still bothering me that this PA who is an advocate of Sr. Joan’s is allowed to continue as PA in the parish. I have to wonder if she tells the youth there that women will be ordained one day?

I have to wonder if the Bishop is aware of this activity. I’m sure our priest is (my parish and this other one are joined and we have one priest).

I want to take some action; should I arrange a meeting with the priest, or just keep track of incidents and then write to the Bishop? I have an intuition that our priest just wants to go along and get along with this PA.

Maybe I will ask Fr. Serpa for advice.

God bless,
Mimi

A Catholic bishop that does not want a Catholic nun to be associated with his diocese – I’d say that’s a NUCLEAR BOMB.

So she resorts to speaking at an Anglican church? Yet another bomb.
Cardinal Maida of Detroit did something similar. Sr. Joan was scheduled to speak at a parish in Detroit. He forbade the use of Church property for any event she participates in.

She spoke at a rented hall instead.

How do you think I feel being a part of the diocese that houses her and her order?

I find it mind boggling that you have her, and then on the other hand, you have Fr. Larry Richards (he’s your pastor, right? I’m jealous). I remember when Fr. Larry gave a mission at my parish, he mentioned his spiritual advisor, who’s name also happened to be Sr. Joan, and he made a point to emphasize that she was NOT Sr. Joan Chissiter (sp?), and did not hide his disdain for her (SJC, not his spiritual advisor).

Oops, sorry for hijacking the thread!

Has anyone read, “Scarred by struggle, transformed by hope” by Chittister? Any thoughts?

He is my pastor, and I have noticed the same thing. Amazing, isn’t it?

my first thought is that those nuns (without habit) look like angry man hating feminists.

There is something female lacking from their appearance that I find disturbing.

In that first picture all I see is a woman that has nothing but contempt in her eyes.

The first picture I grant you, she looks fired up. The group picture I don’t see anything wrong or ‘unfeminine’ about the ladies.

Although presuming they are nuns it is disturbing there is absolutely nothing identifying them as such, not even any cross on a chain or badge on the lapel or anything.

I am sorry but to me, her message borders on demonic.
I agree. Her disobedience and pride just streams out of her pores. I once saw her on television in the 80’s shaking her fist and screaming about our Holy Father. I thought she was more in need of an exorcism than anything else.

To demand admittance to the Sacrament of Holy Orders shows me that what is loved is not service, but rather power.
The mere fact that a “demand” is made by those who call for the ordination of women is a telling point. It bespeaks a complete misunderstanding of the nature of the Sacrament of Holy Orders, and Sr. Joan is one of the most strident propagators of this misunderstanding.

No one can demand admittance to Holy Orders. The call to the Sacrament is to be presented to the Church by the one who perceives it, and the Church determines its validity. No one can claim a right to ordination, and yet here we have this special pleading (a logical fallacy) “demanding” ordination.

In a way we should be grateful for her openness. It’s as good as her wearing a neon sign that flashes, “Danger!”

Blessings,

Gerry
