I guess “many” is a subjective term.
I gather about 100 people attend the SSPX Mass here in Glasgow every Sunday. Meanwhile, about two miles away, there is a licit Tridentine Mass at the exact same time, attended by 20-30 people a week. This puzzles me and troubles me. I think that part of it is that some people like to go where there are more people. They feel more supported, that way.
I’ve been told that the SSPX chapel is attended by several families with young children. As a mother of two young children, I know that I feel more comfortable when I see other children in attendance. I don’t want to have the only fussy baby in the room, ya know?
When I went to the licit Mass for the first time, yesterday, I went by myself. My husband and I have decided to throw our lot in with that parish, and we’ll be taking the kids. I’ve heard that another couple occassionally comes with children. Perhaps there will be a family in the future who will see us and think, “OK, we’re welcome here” and stay, rather than go on down the street to the SSPX.
