Dear Cagrl,

You’re awesome! Thanks so much for asking all of us to join the St. Monica Novena beginning Dec. 2. I truly need it! God bless ya! Much lovve!

I am so happy to see many of us banding together in the Novena to pray for our husbands! :grouphug:

Thank you! :hug3:

😃
Novena Flunkies, UNITE! Hmmm, maybe if nine of us remember to pray at least once it’ll count? 😊
I’m horrible at novenas. The last one I prayed, I just sat and said it nine times in a row, 'cause I know there was no way that I would remember to say it everyday for 9 days.😊

So would you like to try something different? :hmmm:
I would love for you to join us!! 🙂 Is there something else that is easier for you? I’m open to any suggestions. 😉

I think I might set up my igoogle so it emails me the novena every day. 🤷

Hey, be proud of yourself that you are giving this Novena thing another try! 🙂 You’re also getting smart on how to ‘jimmy’ this to help you not forget! Good for you! 👍

Since I am going to be posting the Novena every day, you can also set up the forum thread to e-mail you everyday. That’s how I get the Novenas done otherwise I would forget too. 😉

How do you set it up? I will definitely need the reminder too :o

I believe if you go to profile there is a tab that says ‘subscribe threads’ and if you have subscribed to this thread it will send you and e-mail every time someone posts to this thread. If I am not clear or exact then I am sure one of the moderators can guide you exactly on how to do it. Mine just automatically started doing it when I would post on a thread. Hope that helps. 🙂

By the way, I am so glad to hear of so many joining in!!! 😃

OK, thanks! 😃
I know about St. Monica, but do you know if there are any novenas to St. Joseph? I just think he was so devoted and faithful (despite doubt early on) and I think he’s a great example (not to mention a carpenter, which my hubby happens to be too 😉 ). Just figured asking for his help too couldn’t hurt. 😃

We’re Carpenters (In Name Only ;)) too! I was going to name our homeschool St Joseph’s Academy for that reason.

Dh’s paternal grandfather did some “home improvement” that was completely functional not very pretty, and fortunately is covered by the curtains. He joked, “I’m no carpenter!”

Novena to St Joseph

This novena to St. Joseph is very very old:
Novena to Saint Joseph
Oh Saint Joseph whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the Throne of God, I place in you all my interests and desires.
Oh Saint Joseph, assist me by your powerful intercession and obtain for me from your Divine Son all spiritual blessings through Jesus Christ, Our Lord; so that having engaged here below your Heavenly power I may offer my Thanksgiving and Homage to the Loving of Fathers.
Oh Saint Joseph, I never weary contemplating you and Jesus asleep in your arms. I dare not approach while He reposes near your heart.
Press Him in my name and kiss His fine Head for me, and ask Him to return the kiss when I draw my dying breath.
Saint Joseph, Patron of departing souls, pray for us.
Here’s another one.

Has anyone ever noticed when you increase prayer for hubby, marital issues seem to worsen? That’s been the case for me many many times. Most recently when I started to dedicate my rosary to his conversion. That must have really peeved the devil off when I started doing that, cuz boy howdy did we have a fight! 😛

Or for a wife for that matter… I think it is higher personal expectations. When one does something overtly, the perception of the person by the husband (in this case) changes too. It’s a tough line to walk, trying to balance everything.

Thanks for the prayers. I like them although I have a hard time relating to St. Joseph as a husband. His role was way different.

Thanks for the St. Joseph novenas you guys 😃

I’ve been interested in St. Joseph because he is such a wonderful role model: he was scared but ultimately united himself to God’s will, accepted with joy and grace the responsibility of being Jesus’ earthly father, and stood by Mary always. He seems such a loving person even though we don’t usually talk about him very much. I’ve been asking the Holy Family to make our family holy lately, and that’s when I wondered about a novena to St. Joseph. If my husband could be like him, that would be great. I’ve been asking him to help my husband be a good husband and father like him. 😉

St. Joseph is the Patron Saint that I use for my DH. I pray to St. Joseph all the time for my hubby because he was a father and husband and was so devout to God and his family. I have done the St. Joseph Novena before too. And some times I just say the prayer just as a way of speaking to St. Joseph for my DH before I go to bed. But I try to pray to St. Joseph almost every day for my DH. I think he is a great model for your husbands, like Mary is for us. I pray to the Holy family a lot too.

It’s not higher expectations in this case that I’m talking about. More than a few times it’s happened that when I increase my prayers for his conversion, it’s as if something snaps. My prayers for him are not said with the intent of my eventual satisfaction, I understand that his conversion is his own path, and it could very well occur at the end of his life like Saint Monica’s husband Patricius. That’s not for me to say. What I’m referring to is inordinate troubles popping immediately concurrent with an increase in prayer for conversion. Shocking troubles in fact, nothing expected in any way. It’s been uncanny the coincidence I’ve seen in my own marriage. I’m mentioning it because it’s actually something I fear going into this novena with you all! A friend has warned me in the past this could be spiritual warfare that I’m seeing.

Dear BeeSweet:

That has happened to me so many times it isn’t even funny. It’s almost scary. I hate to even “put it out there” less the devil hears my petition and stirs things up! But I keep trying. Looks like we’re in the same boat.
