PRAYER TO ST. MONICA

Dear St. Monica,
troubled wife and mother,
many sorrows pierced your heart during your lifetime.
Yet, you never despaired or lost faith.
With confidence, persistence, and profound faith,
you prayed daily for the conversion
of your beloved husband, Patricius,
and your beloved son, Augustine;
your prayers were answered.
Grant me that same fortitude, patience,
and trust in the Lord.
Intercede for me, dear St. Monica,
that God may favorably hear my plea for

(Mention your intention here.)

and grant me the grace to accept His Will in all things,
through Jesus Christ, our Lord,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever.

Amen.

Good Morning Ladies,
I just prayed day 4 of the Novena. Hope you are all doing well.

Blessings

I typed “4” yesterday instead of “5” and it won’t let me edit. Oh well…

We’ve been having a pretty rough time financially lately, which puts quite a strain on a marriage. Despite that, we’ve been OK – trying to stay positive and still having mostly joy-filled days. Then I started the novena, and this week we’ve been annoyed at each other all week. I guess Satan doesn’t like me praying for St. Monica’s intercession…but that’s too bad, because I’m not going to stop! 😉

Offering a prayer for all of you right now…I hope today is a good day. :crossrc:

That seems to happen. I suppose the Evil One doesn’t want us to pray when we have problems. He’d rather we give up.

I’m sorry to hear that Belle. Don’t let the devil get you down!

Day six check!

Well, I won’t give up! 👍

Even though I won’t give up, I have been a bit down, so thanks for the encouragement you guys. 🙂

Now I just have to hope I don’t forget the novena over the weekend 😛 :o

Hi eveyone,

I feel very fortunate that I found this message board.

I was confirmed as a Catholic in April of 2005. Although my husband grew up catholic, he will not go to Mass with me and at least once a week expresses to me his dislike for the church I am attending.

He went there as a child and apparently does not have many fond memories.

I joined the handbell choir last April and things have gone from bad to worse. He has yet come to see me play and calls the handbell choir “stupid” and “a waste of time”.

There are not that many catholic churches in the town we live in and I really enjoy playing and don’t want to change churches.

I have been praying that God will open his heart and he will begin attending some Masses with me.

I am going to start praying the St. Monica prayer today. Please pray for me and my husband

Hi JeanneNick, welcome 🙂

I’m new to this thread, but I’ve been on CAF for a few months. I feel fortunate to have found this place too. 😃

I will pray for you and your husband, and all on this thread. :yup:

Hi everyone!

I’m joining this thread after Belle10 pointed me here.

My husband has already reverted and is actively participating in his Catholic faith. I am joining because St. Monica is the patron of several other causes.
*Patronage: *abuse victims; alcoholics; alcoholism; difficult marriages; disappointing children; homemakers; housewives; married women; mothers; victims of adultery; victims of unfaithfulness; victims of verbal abuse; widows; wives
I didn’t actively pray to St. Monica in the years I prayed my husband back into the Catholic church, but I did pray for the Saints in general to intercede so I’m sure she had a big part.

St. Monica’s patronage to alcoholics, difficult marriages, housewives, married women and mothers is my reason for subscribing here.

My husband is an alcoholic and his drinking has caused a great deal of difficulty in the last eight months when his drinking escalated. I’m also a stay at home mom of a 5 yo DD.

DH is currently sober and has been for the past sixteen days. He has made a commitment to staying sober for 30 days. He seems vastly different this time and he is also implementing spiritual things into his life during this 30 day period. We are praying together every night, which is something we have never done in our 27 year marriage.

Adding a Novena, myself for the intention of his perpetual sobriety is exactly what I need to do right now!

Staying in contact with other wives and moms feels like an affirming and positive thing for me as well.

Day One - DONE

Welcome! We will be praying for you and your DH. This is an awesome thread! 😉

And Welcome to you too, Lamb!!! 😃

Blessings to you. 🙂

Just prayed my day of the Novena! 😉

Day seven check!

Welcome Lamb and Jeaanne!

I included you all in the general intercessions today at mass. I hope everyone has a blessed Feast of the Immaculate Conception! She’s our patron of the US as well!

Dear Lamb,
I will pray for you and your husband. Nothing is impossible for God. We’re all in this together! God bless you.

Hi everyone - hi Debbie, glad you’re here. 🙂

Thank you Lord Jesus, for fellowship. It is a great gift and blessing to know one is not alone. :crossrc:
