The division is political only to the extent one of the political parties has completely wedded themselves to the culture of death. The divisions come about when members of this political party try and claim that one can be catholic and support its presidential candidate.
See, there’s a fallacy in your statement. I do not believe that all in either party are completely represented by a part of those parties. With that stated, both parties ignore some part of ‘a dignity of life, from conception to natural death’ for all people.

What I have been trying so hard to do is to make people think. There is too much a readiness to widen divisions within His Church, over politics. I thank God often for the extended family He has given me through the body of Christ. I accept that I am imperfect. I see harm in the accusations so quickly cast about, without any real attempt to correct. Corrections should be given compassionately as scriptures and the Church teaches us to do. Even if a correction is true, it’s not received as such when it lacks the principles of Christ.

I have not given support to either of the major candidates; however, I have continually had insinuations cast against me to state otherwise. Why is that? Because I refuse to support a particular party?

As a Catholic, you must abide by the Magisterium and the Holy See. If not, seek another faith that will accommodate your views. How’s that for partisan?

There’s no foaming here, sorry if you take it that way.

I saw that you post said both parties and noticed you only attributed a KKK member to the democratic party, so I provided an example from the other party.
The poster I responded to put white racists in the Republican party, and I concured citing bad elements in both parties. I then gave an actual example of a long term prominent racist in the Democratic party because the Republican example had already been given and acknowledged by me. Context goes a long way.

Coming from a source without any authority and against what Christ and the Church teaches. Even when a Catholic suffers excommunication, they are still a Catholic.

Now, what have I said that is against what the Magisterium teaches? The Church does not teach one must belong to a particular political party.

Thanks for the clarification. Communicating through the written word can be tricky and I don’t see anything worth arguing over.

There seems to be a double standard being overlooked here. Look through these forums and see what happens to someone who show support for other candidates, or even stating they will not vote at all.
If you feel that forum rules are being violated, then feel free to report posts instead of complaining about it.

Otherwise, accept the premise that criticism can and will be posted.

I think all you are trying to do is distract us from the main point of this post, which is a major double standard for minorities with conservative viewpoints.

A careful reading of Gospel testimony reveals that Jesus said to some extent.

My priest recently gave a sermon indicating this; to suggest that Jesus is saying there isn’t room for cafeteria Christians, and if your inclination is to be of the world, don’t bother with Him because it is not easy..

Liberal and progressive Christians think that following Christ should be a joyride. Life should be fun and games, not a pilgrimage of sorrowful reflection. Truthfully, even some conservatives and moderates do as well.

Indeed the Bible says that man cannot have two Masters.

Either you serve the whims of the world, or you serve God.

If you ran a decision model analysis, that’s what pretty much every choice comes down to.

There is a point that criticism crosses a line. As I said before, ‘when a message, or correction, is received with what seems to lack Christ’s principles, it’s hard to associate the message with Christian.’

I am not trying to distract anything, but the mistakes I see in people judging an entire group of people because of the actions of a few. There seems to be an extreme amount of pride in some of these type political discussions; similar to a 'back slapping, you really told ‘em that time’ type communication, as opposed to a message of love that Christ taught us to have for ALL.

I’ve mean it when I tried to explain that it pains me to see the in fighting between Catholics, which are my extended family through the body of Christ. Believe me, I have considered leaving the Church over the ‘veiled’, and not so veiled, invitations to do so. I stay because I believe it is the Church Christ built.

I try to speak clearly, and take time to explain when people don’t seem to grasp what I’m trying to say; yet, how many times has my words been twisted into supporting someone, or an intrinsic evil, that I have clearly stated, ‘I do not support.’ That’s a tactic that lacks honesty, which is required of believers. When messages, or corrections, lack the principles of Christ, they are easily discarded as I have trouble seeing the association as from Him, or His.

I’ve said that politics is another master. If you would rather advance a political platform than try and save a brother you truly believe is lost, who is that serving?

Unfortunately for those of us who believe in the entirety of Catholic teaching, even if it hurts someone’s feelings or denies them a government subsidy, we are seen as anti-gay, anti-women, anti-poor or responsible for someone’s ball team moving or farm getting sold.

That sort of commentary will not be tolerated a single ounce by me.

Anytime those insults get hurled around, those wielding the sword of words have lost the argument and the debate is over.

Crosses your line, which is very thin.

More and more Catholic leaders are asserting that supporting political platforms and candidates contrary to Catholic teaching is not a trifling matter and sin of omission is apparent here more often than naught.

When I write about the seriousness of abortion or changing marriage or government trying to run the Church, those issues are not a mask to support the GOP agenda—these are grave enough to be mortal sins.

I think that we need to be assertive and active in the political world or our Church will get run over.

I’m thoroughly convinced that is not what Jesus wants .

We also should pray and reach out to our lost brothers and sisters.

It is possible to walk and chew gum at the same time and the either/or basis in your question is not an acceptable option.

Well, there’s a lot at stake with this election. People are afraid and sick at heart at what might happen, and probably will, if Obama retakes the office. That’s no excuse for the lack of charity, but that’s the primary reason.
Those who think they will get a slap on the back from their favorite priest or bishop for voting for Virgil Goode, Gary Johnson or dare I say Obama, will have a lot of sleepless nights and/or regrets if that happens.

Even the gates of hell shall not prevail. He will be with it until the consummation of the world. Could it be He is demanding more faith from us? Remember, the Church overcame Rome, which was the biggest persecutor of the Church in history, yet Christ never preached for men to overcome that government. Just sharing a thought and not trying to argue a point.

And yet, faith without works is dead faith. The unborn are counting on us…we are the only voice and the only hands they have in the world.

Edit: The Church overcame Rome not by simply sitting by and praying, but taking a stand for their faith…and dying for it.

If you take solace in this statement, “the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail” you must keep in mind all of Jesus’ teachings. Not all will be saved, the Church, yes. Are all of its “members” going to be saved? No, because many take the wide road, rather than the narrow gate which is HARD. This does not sound like Jesus making all feel good about their inconsistencies with Church teaching.

Again I repeat, when a liberal or progressive, these terms are interchangeable, speak their opinion it is for us to be tolerant; when a conservative speaks it is intolerance at its best and partisan. There is a very bid double standard, especially for a black conservative. Look at what happened to Herman Cain, Keys, West, Thomas, etc. They all dared, like this young lady to separate themselves from the majority of their demographic.

He is demanding more faith from us, true faith. He is Truth; He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. He is demanding we stand up for Truth, Jesus. Abortion is intrinsically evil, period. We must do what is prudent to defeat this evil. Romney gives us the best opportunity to defeat the most pro death president this country has ever seen. The party platform spells out many intrinsic evils which it supports. One vote for a third party candidate is one less vote for Romney, period. We may not agree with everything Romney says or represents, but he can defeat Obama, that’s enough.

Again, why is a republican who states his opinions seen as partisan, but the democrats seen as honorably standing for their beliefs? Baffling…

Last point of yours, “Christ never preached for men to overcome that government”, He may not have taught to overthrow that government by the sword, He has taught us to fight government when it is oppressive and wrong. In this case our government is both. Just ask the millions of aborted souls. All through the history of the Church until now the Church has fought against wrongs perpetrated by government, times are no different now as far as the need to fight, except for the warriors who won’t stand up and fight.

This was my message last weekend in my homilies, we are Catholic, and Mother Church has declared abortion, same sex “unions”, and other issues as intrinsically evil. If we would get past the hardness of our hearts and stand together we would have already defeated this scourge we call legal abortion. Again I use scripture, “You are the salt of the earth, if salt loses it’s seasoning, with what can it be seasoned”, nothing so it of no use, “but to be trampled under foot.” This is where we are as a Church in America; we are being trampled under foot because we have lost our seasoning. Jesus’ words can “re-season” us to fight the fight and vote this guy out and hopefully right the wrong of Row V Wade.

If this sounds too partisan to you it is not me who is at fault. I preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, not the gospel of this world.
