'Stand Your Ground' hearing could potentially clear Zimmerman in Trayvon Martin shooting

So if there were a rash of kidnappings, and wittnesses all reported a middle-aged, white man with a beard and brown hair driving a white cargo van on your block, would you feel justified about pulling your kids away from a white, bearded, middle-aged man in a white cargo van? Or would that be racial profiling?

Or is that ok, because he’s white? Your arguement is nonsense. You’ve plainly downed the kool-aide, and I think I’m done with this thread.

Pax.
There is a world of difference between a description that includes mention of race (that is only logical when you’re looking for a suspect) and a description that is centered on race. Unless I am mistaken, the neighborhood watch pal of Zimmerman’s made no mention of hoodies - only race, age-group and sex: young, black male. That would so widen a pool of suspects as to be totally useless except for stigmatizing people who fit the profile; which is exactly what their profiling did, and we have one dead child to show for it.

Racial profiling did not cause Martin to turn around and attack him.

How do you know what Martin did? By accepting the word of poor little rich guy? I’ll wait for the re-enactment in court, thank you very much…

Maybe by the fact that his face and head were bruised and bloodied and his handgun jammed in a way consistent with being held up against something like the ground or a body.

And that tells us what Martin did? I’m no clairvoyant so I’d say that those injuries (only properly documented the NEXT DAY) could have been sustained in a multitude of ways and tell us nothing of what Martin did. As for the reason for the gun jamming - you said it yourself…“the ground or A BODY”. Who’s to tell what really happened? A man who has demonstrated his ability/willingness to deceive a court of law?

The injuries were documented by the police with pictures shortly after the incident. Unless of course the police are lying too. 🤷

And not fully developed they are stronger than most adults. I know I was much stronger at 17 than I am at 45.
At 45, I can understand why you say that then. But I am 25 and I don’t see how a Trayvon Martin can beat a guy like me without me fighting back unless I choose to stay cool and yell and can only fight to get the gun to kill him. The story makes absolutely no sense to me.

Young/prime adulthood can be considered the healthiest time of life’[12] and young adults are generally in good health, subject neither to disease nor the problems of senescence. Biological function and physical performance reach their peak from 20–35 years of age, waning after 35. Strength peaks around 25 years of age, plateaus through 35 - 40 years of age, and then declines. Flexibility also decreases with age throughout adulthood. However, there are large individual differences and a fit 40-year-old may out-compete a sedentary 20-year-old.

Zimmerman is 28!

How do you document a broken nose with a police picture, unless the broken bone is showing through the skin?

Nah, according to a previous poster, Zimmerman is middle-aged! Can we discuss the psychological phenomenon of projection now? It might shed a little light on this debate.

Umm, you have already said he deserves jail time, and derided him for being a poor little rich guy.

You and others aren’t waiting for anything…

You know, this is really one of the things that wonders me: why many folks here tend to believe that a Trayvon Martin can beat a George Zimmerman (a 28-year-old male!) hands down. Again, it makes absolutely no sense. And Zimmerman was aspiring to become a police officer and once attended a 14-week citizens’ police academy programme.

Gee!

Yeah, an aspiring police officer supposedly beaten by a bare-handed kid! Pitiful.

That I have, mea culpa. Let’s just say I’m not interested in waiting for Zimmerman’s stories to be transformed into certifiable fact via the magic of the internet machine.

See David & Goliath for an example of a very much smaller, weaker guy beating a larger opponent 😃 It does happen.

I don’t think that in a normal fight that Trayvon could have beaten George, but a surprise sucker punch to the face can give one opponent an advantage that they normally wouldn’t have. Size and strength are not everything in a fight. Heck, even I could put down a much larger male with a single well placed knee. 😛

There are external signs of a broken nose, other than bones sticking through the skin.
Signs that suggest a person has a broken nose may include the following:
Tenderness when touching the nose
Swelling of the nose or face
Bruised nose
Bruising under the eyes (black eye)
Deformity of the nose (crooked nose)
Nosebleed
When touching the nose, a crunching or crackling sound (crepitus) or or creaking sensation like that of rubbing hair between 2 fingers
Pain and difficulty breathing out of the nostrils

You apparently have already judged him, found him guilty, and determined his punishement.

And without all of the facts.
