Unfortunately, it was quite a fitting call for these playoffs.

Personally, I didn’t really watch the game tonight. I got home just in time to catch an elbow to Chara’s head (went uncalled), ran some errands, and then came back just in time to see the trip…Yeah, I had some really bad luck tonight.

Sitting and waiting for Game 6 to start and wondering if Boston can pull out a win or not.

End of the first period and Boston is leading 1-0. Maybe there will be a Game 7.
End of the second period and it’s still 1-0 in Boston’s favor.
Boston scored again, so it’s 2-0 against St. Louis. Make that 3-0 because Boston just made another goal.
And now St. Louis has gotten a goal, so it’s 3-1. And Boston came back with another goal, 4-1.
That’s more scoring action in the third period than in all of the first two periods.
Boston yet again, 5-1.
21 seconds to go and there’s finally a fight.
Didn’t change anything, though. Final is Boston 5, St. Louis 1.
On to Game 7!

Maybe it’s just me, but St. Louis seemed much less physical tonight. Maybe two suspensions in the series has spooked them? Then again, if they won, they wouldn’t have had to worry about that.

Also, that McAvoy save was phenomenal!

Finally, as a fan of The Office, I’m glad to see a friendly rivalry brewing between John Krasinski and Jenna Fischer over this. Certainly better than the forced marriage problems between their characters in Season 9.

What are the odds that tonight’s final game will go to double overtime from a 0-0 tie at the end of regulation?
Nope, St. Louis just scored. 1-0 in the first period. Nope, again; now it’s 2-0.
End of the second period and it’s still St. Louis 2, Boston 0.
Third period and a third score, again by St. Louis, and just now another one. That makes it 4-0 in favor.of St, Louis. Three minutes to go and it looks like the a team from the Western Conference is finally going to win the Stanley Cup.
Boston finally scored to make 4-1, but with only a minute left that really doesn’t change the final result of a Western victory.
Yep, the Blues are partying on the ice!

I was cheering for the Blues all the way. They played a great series and deserved to win. So glad the rat lost.

I kind of lost interest in the end and didn’t really feel like watching much of the final game.

There was some interesting stuff this playoff. There was the sweep of Tampa and Pittsburgh in the first round. There was all four wild card teams getting past the first round. There was the rally the Sharks put together to win against Vegas. There was constant sweeps of teams who got swept. There was the Fischer/Krasinski friendly rivalry.

At the same time, there was so much disastrous stuff. Multiple ref teams got booted for shoddy performance and bad calls (don’t even get me started), and the Sharks/Vegas group that got booted seemed to set the tone of too much leniency. It was also almost impossible to find any consistency in how the league handled dangerous play, summarized wonderfully by this tweet by Vlasic:

And of course, there was pretty much no being pleased with whoever the champion turned out to be.

Overall, I’ll probably remember these playoffs for being a ton of fun in the first round but otherwise the worst in recent memory.
