Staying, Leaving?

I didn’t abandon Jesus because He was betrayed by Judas, and I refuse to leave because of some faithless priests.

(I imagine a priest must lose their faith before deciding that their disordered, fleeting desires outweigh their duty to the Church)

Staying. I will be hanged if I let a bunch of sinful men drive me away from the church. I ignore them and look to the saints.

Good grief, I’m not leaving Jesus! Where would I go?

I’ve been hearing about priests committing sins since I was about 10 years old. I don’t leave the church over what some other person does, be they a priest, a bishop, the Pope, or my next door neighbor.

It’s a deal. You take the bow and I’ll take the stern. Hopefully Jesus will wake up from his nap at some point and help out 🙂

You’ll never be the last one. I’ll be right there with you helping to man the ship.
Me three. When I returned to the Church, I wanted to be a prayer warrior for God. Prayer warriors don’t quit. Never give in, as Churchill said!
Hurrah! We’ll take down Old Scratch yet! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

OP, I so understand where you’re coming from. I’m looking at the Church a bit differently now. I’m still staying – I’m Catholic by baptism, not by the man who baptized me or any other priest. And I won’t abandon Christ, who really is present in the Mass.

But I understand your feelings. ❤️

I’m staying. As others have said, there is no where to go. I do not want to leave our Lord. If I left I would just be another victim.

No. Never leaving again. I made a choice to leave once and regretted it ever since. The Church is not the Priests. The Church is all of us.

Let’s see. I can either stay here where the food is great, the drinks are cold, even though the bartenders and waitresses are grouchy and ignore me, or I can go out into the desert and wander around in the midst of nothing but sand, scorching sun, rattlesnakes, and whatever horrors there are in the night? Hmmmm … tough choice.
Think I’ll order another beer…

I am staying as I believe in the church. Now the church leaders are another matter. 40 years ago had they been 100% honest and open, this issue would have been resolved years ago. Today they are still doing exactly what they did 40 years ago and in another 40 this will still be an issue for the church. Our leaders failed us and the children they allowed to be molested by their silence.
