“Christians should not participate in or support Pride Month,” he said. “And it’s not because we hate men and women with same-sex attraction. It’s because we know that according to the law of nature and the law of God, marriage should be between man and woman. The Catholic Church actually teaches that we should love all those with homosexual tendencies… To love someone means to want what’s best for them, and it’s not best for someone that they are supported in their sinful actions"

Yes the ever peaceful left engaging in death threats. Lovely.

This sounds like an utterly uncontroversial statement. So naturally there is a huge controversy about it.

I’ve seen this video being shared on Twitter. I don’t use TikTok but I assume it’s a private entity that can choose to censor whomever violates its terms of service. Father Esshaki should find another platform.

I’m a bit confused, though, about his claim that Catholics can’t support Pride Month. While of course he’s correct in explaining how the Church views homosexual urges vs. homosexual actions, his conclusion that Catholics can’t support Pride Month seems to be more of an opinion.

America Magazine is a poor source for faithful Catholic views, it is notoriously unorthodox, or worse. It’s editor is Fr. James Martin who’s views on homosexuality are not in line with Catholicism. Not an attack on you I just thought you might not know. 🙂
As for the OP… Christian expresses standard Christianity. Shocking!

While I don’t view America Magazine in the same way, I am aware that among conservative Catholics, it’s unpopular. Still, none of that answers the question about whether Catholics are truly barred from supporting Pride Month.

Well gay pride is not about supporting same-sex attracted people in a way that encourages them to remain chaste, it is about supporting homosexuality in all its elements, including homosexual relationships and sex. I don’t see how a Catholic can support it.

Why bother supporting it? It gives a mistaken impression that they are for same sex activity.

But if you read the article from America Magazine (even if you disagree with the source), there are faithful LGBT Catholics who support it. If they can, why shouldn’t their fellow Catholics?

Exactly. And how many of those Catholics who support it will mention Courage, a Church approved apostolate?

Tik tok should stick to dances and cute pet videos

“I’m a savage. Sassy bougie ratched “

There are Catholics who support all sorts of things and do all sorts of things. Just because a Catholic does something doesn’t mean it’s ok. Pride is entirely homosexual sex-positive. This is not ok for Catholics. You said there are “faithful” Catholics who support it. I would say by virtue of the fact that they support homosexuality, they are not faithful.

There are people who call themselves faithful Catholics who support abortion’s being legal without restrictions.

So the fact that some support something like this is not necessarily a good indicator for Catholics.

Nice to hear Courage getting a mention. So much respect for all involved in that organisation. Unfortunately there are countries where they are now labelled as “conversion therapy” and not allowed to exist.

Courage is not reparation therapy. That’s a common misunderstanding.

Catholics would do better by supporting Fr. Simon and the Courage Ministry.
