The word ‘thongs’ in the wrong context down here can result in visitors raising an eyebrow or two. We mean flip flops.
And the colloquial term for someone illegitimate is quite common as a friendly term. As in ‘Hey, you old b’. Unless you swap ‘right’ for ‘old’ in which case he’s not such a decent guy: ‘Nah, he’s a right b’.
And don’t get me started on ‘fair dinkum’…
