Straight kids should not be bullied

As someone who was picked on, teased, and called every name in the book growing up, you will never, ever, ever, stop kids from picking on each other.

But you can reduce it and protect the obviously vulnerable.

Bullying is terrible - of anyone, for anything. It is destructive of the person and the community. That’s why we need to do what we can, when we can.

And you can be against the politicized gay agenda, while being against the bullying of people with SSA. One is not the same as the other.

I’ve only been teaching for 3 years, but this has been my experience as well. The obese and SSA/homosexuals/the effeminate.

No, we’re getting a laugh out of it because we all know you don’t get bullied for being a member of the “in” group.

I got bullied by a professor in college for being a conservative, white, preppy male. The priest who was rector of my dorm even called her a b-word when he heard what she was doing to me. Eventually it got taken care of, but she’s hardly the only person to pick on what you call the “in” group.

We have campaigns to stop young people drinking and driving. Not all kids drink and drive yet we see no problem with such campaigns.
We have campaigns to stop SSA bullying. Why should people see them as a problem?

There are 1.2 billion Catholics in the world.

If only 1% of people have SSA then there are 12,000,000 “gay” and “lesbian” Catholics.

Should we not protect them, and show them they are welcome in our “home” - the Church. Or should we tell them that to find solace and help they must join a politicized “gay” or “queer” group?

Or - since there are more than 12,000,000 Catholics who masturbate, consume porn, fornicate, commit adultery, use contraceptives or get divorced, we should stop being hypocritical about sexual sin and say ALL who sin sexually should be excluded from the Church?

Of course we should protect them and ALL children that feel isolated,bullied.This is about teaching the Golden Rule.As Christ said “love others as I have loved you.” School can brutal,the meanness of some kids has no boundaries, they can be ruthless.If it’s not bullying re ssa,it’s for a myriad of other reasons.Kids will always find something to focus on.My point and I. Elie e the point of the OP is to not tolerate bullying of any kind.

Only if they speak their opinion out loud, for example the official Catholic doctrine, and don’t agree with the current mantra. If they do that… Katy bar the door.
 
Nobody, and I mean nobody, not a gay kid, not even that kids who dresses all in black, wears black lipstick and claims to worship the devil deserves to be bullied. NOBODY! :mad:

That’s what I’ve been saying in all the threads about LGBT anti-bullying awareness. No one should be bullied, not even straight kids.
 
Reading through these posts,it seems the general consensus is zero tolerance regarding bullying of any kind towards anyone . Create safe havens where kids can go when they are bullied with the assurance the problem will be addressed without reprerc ussions for the victim. Kids can be brutal,as most of us can remember from our own childhood.
 
Well, it looks like I’ve gotten everyone here to agree that instead of having an LGBT anti-bullying campaign or a straight anti-bullying campaign, it should just be a campaign against all bullying instead of focusing on one particular group. I think we all can agree with that, right? 🙂

Agreed, sure, but if the LGBT kids want to start something on their own, based on their experiences, I wouldn’t stand in their way.

As a radical libertarian/anarchist, I shared some of your same frustrations with progressive or even self-professed Marxist professors in college.Forgive me for being blunt, but comparing the suffering of a white male conservative in the to that of blacks or individuals with SSA, etc. is just ridiculous and besides your brethren, no one is going to take your complaints seriously, nor should they.

Speaking the truth has consequences. At least you are not bullied for what is an intrinsic part of your person, one which you cannot escape. Fortunately for us, we are often able to avoid such confrontations by simply recognizing that this is not the time/place to be discussing doctrine. For the individual with the “wrong” skin color or gender or natural mannerisms, there is no escape.

Thank you for summing it up. That is all there is to it. True, we do not promote the faith by refusing to condemn sin. But neither do we promote the faith by willfully refusing to defend the vulnerable.

If the radical LGBT activists have calloused your heart such that you focus solely on the former to the complete exclusion of the latter, then “they” have won.

Who’s comparing? I’m just pointing out that bullying does happen to all demos, by all demos.

These experiences, and my experiences teaching, and my reading of Church documents lead me to believe that we do need a separate, focused anti bullying program for kids with SSA.

Yes, indeed, young people (1) wrongly identify individuals such as yourself as SSA for silly reasons such as the above, and (2) use the standard anti-gay slurs for anybody they think doesn’t conform.

Never personally knew an SSA kid that commited suicide, but I’ve seen what damage bullying can do.

Just for a relatively mild example, one eighth grader was followed home and harassed so badly on the last day of school he told his mother he never wanted to go back, and she had to make alternative arrangements for him.

And then there were the kids in Catholic high school who thought it was really funny to tell a bunch of little grammar school kids that another high school student was a “f****t” and encouraged them to beat him up.

So I’m with you; I know it’s a problem.
