Oh, I am so very sorry for your lost. Your lost brings me to tears and yes of course I’ll pray for your family. My morning Rosary intention will be for the soul of your beautiful daughter and for the healing graces from God to your family.

Peace be with you and your family.

David

Hello Moe,

I just finished the entire thread and want to say some things. Our 1 1/2 year old boy died in his sleep on March 27th. It’s day 17. I feel like my life is the mirror image of yours. Your feelings, the pain, the hopelessness, even the yearning to see Justin in my dreams. I haven’t yet by the way.

My worst time of the day is the morning. I can barely roll out of bed but I have to go to work. Evenings for me seem better. I do my best praying then. I will pray for you and McKayla and Amanda. Just think, McKayla is up with my Justin in heaven. They would love each other I’m sure. He was the jolliest little guy with the most pure love I have ever witnessed.

I really think the prayers are getting my wife and me through this. For my CAF friends, if you could add the Sheaff Family to your lists, we would appreciate it.

My faith is at an all time high, thank you God. Although I know Justin is in heaven, I still miss him so terribly much. He was my little boy. I planned my whole life around him. I imagined fishing trips, camping, teaching him the guitar, and what a wonderful person he was going to be. My human nature is finding this part very hard. Oh, how I wish I could see him again. I still hope for a dream. But I know one day, we will be reunited in heaven. What a wonderful future.

We have a 4 year old girl who doesn’t quite understand everything. She talks about him everyday.

Anyway, I will keep you in my prayers. I sent you an email and would love to correspond if you feel the same.

Love and prayers,
Pete
The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 14:18

I read it and want to believe it … I know he is … but I am just not feeling at peace right now. Perhaps it is because we still do not know what took her …still a couple weeks out before the medical examiners get’s the results and we haven’t buried her … we are so sad 😦

God, please grant all of us peace, all of us who have such a heavy heart …

I want to share with you a prayer that someone, a stranger, sent to us in one of the 1000 sympathy cards that we received and still receive on a daily basis.

This does give me great peace. Why? Well … the story of Abraham and Isaac has always been my favorite Old Testament Bible Story – but for the reason that it prophesized the coming of the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ. I never in my wildest dreams would think that I would be a parent who has in a way ‘sacraficed’ my child, not by my hands, but by the will of God. So upon reading this prayer … I was filled with some kind of peace … although not total peace … because he took her from us … but we don’t know why.

I am not sure if I already wrote this, but on the way back from the Berlin Hospital that horrible Mar 20 morning around 3:00 am … I prayed out loud:

Mary, you alone know the pain that we are feeling. You knew you were having your son, and you knew he would be crucified. You stood at the foot of the Cross and wept … and must have been horrified. BUT - you did know why he was crucified … so he could be the Saviour of the world … help us understand why this has happened to our family …

Anyway, I retyped this prayer … and I HL where I made changes so the prayer could best fit our families needs.

Prayer For A Parent Whose Child Has Died

Mysterious Lord of Life and Death,
a very part of **OUR **own life has died
in the death of MCKAYLA.
**OUR **souls are weighed down with sorrow
and bears the wound of a lifelong scar.
Send to **US **Your angel of consolation
for the pain is heavy and deep.
Come to **OUR **aid, Lord of Mercy,
for **WE **lack the power
of the holy parent, Abraham,
who was willing in obedience to Your
command,
to sacrifice to You his beloved son,
Isaac.
Lord God, You who are also a parent
surely know **OUR **Pain at the loss
of **OUR **beloved MCKAYLA
who has been taken from OUR side by
death.
Do not take **OUR **tears and sorrow
as a sign of **OUR **unbelief that all who
have died
are resurrected to eternal life in You,
but, rather, see in these tears
a sign of **OUR **great love for OUR MCKAYLA.
As **WE **held **HER **in the embrace of love FOR OVER 13 YEARS,
may You, **MCKAYLA’S **Divine Parent,
hold **HER **close to Your heart forever.
Help US, Lord,
for **WE **do not seek to understand the
why of this mystery of death
as much as **WE **desire to accept it in a
holy way
and to be healed and once again whole.
Support US, **OUR **Lord and God,
and wrap **US **in your gentle love
as **WE **attempt to carry this bitter cross
as Your Son, Jesus, carried the cross
which you gave to Him.
Amen

I hope and pray that you find this prayer helpful, all of us who have lost a child … no matter what the relationship …

Moe, You and your family are still in my thoughts and prayers. I pray for you every day. I am lifting you up to the Lord.

THANK YOU LISSA … I AM NOT HAVING A GOOD DAY TODAY AND I ACHE FOR HER … I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING TO US …

Moe,

Whenever things are just way beyond all my resources I just go before the Lord in my heart and say. “O Lord God I praise you that even though I cannot express how bad I feel right now…you know perfectly. I lay my heart and soul out before you and commend myself into your compassion and mercy.”

Know that I will remember you all in all my prayers.
Pax Domini sit semper vobiscum

I think and pray for you daily, Moe. My husband and I speak of you often, too, as we contemplate the unimaginable sorrow you and your family must be suffering at this moment. I pray that you will find solace in the comfort of our faith and know with certainty that McKayla is safe, praying for you as she beholds God in Heaven.

I AM TRYING SO DESPERATELY TO HOLD ON TO THAT — NEVER HAVE I DOUBTED THAT … BUT I AM PANICKING ABOUT IT

Moe,

Rest. Your dear child left this world in a state of grace.

Right now she is that child in that picture that I saw posted earlier. The one wrapped up in the arms of Jesus.

Remember this Sunday is Divine Mercy Sunday.

When things feel heavy…remember what to say.
Jesus I trust in you.

Think of Our Lady, and her sweet mothering of the little baby Jesus. McKayla is with her now, in heaven, wrapped in the safe mantle of Mary. Imagine the gentle hand of Jesus’ mother carressing your little girl’s face. Know that she is loved and at peace, surrounded by saints and angels, praying for your healing and salvation.

Moe, do you have a Catholic therapist yet? Or have you found a grief support group? Do you need any help with finding these things? I’m not from your area, but I’m great at googling. 🙂

NOT YET - BUT I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL I GRIEVE A LITTLE BIT MORE … AND WILL FIND HELP … I NEED TO FIND SOMEONE WHO HAS LOST A CHILD THOUGH … I JUST DON’T WANT TO GO TO ANYONE.

Your and your family are still in my prayers. 😦

I will remember you all at mass tomorrow.

I am praying for you and your family, for God’s peace in the midst your grief. I pray that you might take comfort in knowing that He is God, and though I do not have the proper words or experience to adequately express comfort, our Lord does. He is God, even still. My prayers are always with you.

I can’t quite relate, because my wife and I are childless. But I can still express my sorrow and pray for the repose of your daughter’s soul. 😦

*In paradisum deducant te Angeli:
in tuo adventu suscipiant te martyres,
et perducant te in civitatem sanctam, Jerusalem.

Chorus angelorum te suscipiat
et cum Lazaro quondam paupere
aeternam habeas requiem.*

Thank you - we did go to Mass and receiving the Eurcharists was particular hard … I coudn’t stop crying … my husband went up to get a blessing (he isn’t Catholic) and it was hard on him also …

We are in a middle of a NorEaster in NH … KK loved the snow …

Moe,
As a mom of a beautiful 13 year old daughter, my heart aches for you. I can’t help but cry a little while I type this. Your grief must be unimaginable. I will offer a Mass for your daughter and family, and will beg Our Lord to bring you comfort in your sorrow.

Thank you Giannawannabe. The pain and sadness is so very heavy … she was amazing …

To think she will not grow up and have a prom, or a first boyfriend, or get married and have babie … it is just so horrible … to think that she has gone before us … and we miss her …

I miss kissing her and hugging her and reminding her every day to say her prayers, Morning and Night …

I am just devastated and I try to function … and I try — but I just get so sad.

Her sister has a poem project and she is writing poems about her best friend (McKayla) and they are beautiful and she is putting pictures of her in it and my heart is just crying out - why … why would you take our beautiful Daughter … what possible could be the reason why he did …

I just don’t get it … I just don’t get it …

Moe, I could not imagine how I would respond if the Lord decided to take our only daughter. I keep you also at the top of my prayer list and hope that all the prayers from all here on the forum will help you carry this very heavy cross.

As far as the dreams go… when my uncle died about a week after his death, I had dream about him. In the dream, he asked me to pray for him and I was awaken by the alarm. I did pray for him. After a month or so later, I had another dream and he was all in white and glowed. He did not speak any words but just smiled at me. My aunt and his sister, has been praying for a dream from him or about him, but has yet to and we just had his one year anniversary in November. His eldest daughter has also had a dream about him and he spoke to her in the dream. We are the only two who have had dreams about him that we know of. I don’t understand why me, for I did not pray for it, other than to think that he was my Godfather. We were not close either. I don’t know why the Lord granted me these dreams. I have a history of the Lord speaking to me in dreams since my teens, and maybe that is it. I do believe that when we pray for something and really ask for it and thank the Lord for it, he will usually grant our prayers if it be according to His will and for our good. I will pray for the Lord to grant you this prayer you want.
