There was nothing unconstitutional about what happened. To quote Barack Obama “elections have consequences”.If we followed the Constitution we would probably have a Supreme Court justice named Merrick Garland

Yes, I think so. The Republicans blocked a Supreme Court nomination and now the Democrats are blocking the nomination of Kavanaugh by demanding that the FBI open a full investigation into the allegations of Ford before she will testify. All kinds of allegations are being brought forward about excessive underage drinking at a Catholic high school and their parties. And someone is not telling the truth. Why is that? That is because American politics is dirty. Can anyone tell me why it was okay for Mitch McConnell to block a Supreme court nominee
Kavanaugh has a good record as long as you do not include illegal underage drinking. Anyway, it looks like Ford or her lawyer say she will not testify until the FBI conducts a full investigation into her allegations. Of course, this is going to take months, so the Democrats are hoping to extend this beyond the november elections, and even further if necessary to defeat Kavanaugh. He has been vetted over six different times. He has an impeccable record
what exactly are you afraid of from him?Scalia died in February. It was hardly summer. The Biden rule applies more now then it did then . 2 months to the election and we are cramming this guy though without even vetting him. Lifetime appointment and he will be ruling on more than abortion
They voted him down. Republicans were literally too afraid to bring Garland’s nomination up for a vote.OTOH, Democrats stopped the most brilliant legal mind of a generation from being on the Court: Bork.
Don’t get too worked up about it. It’s just as constitutional to impeach justices and pack the court as it is to be too cowardly to vote on a nomination. Let them have their fun with their (alleged) rapist reality show president and their (alleged) sexual predator justices and their 6 highest-ranking judiciary committee Republicans who voted against reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act (am I starting to notice a pattern here?) while they can.If we followed the Constitution we would probably have a Supreme Court justice named Merrick Garland
Yes!!! Yes they do!Republicans in the US Senate hold all the cards & they can vote right now.
If you have a link that shows wher the majority leader acted outside the rules of the senate, or contrary to the wishes of the majority, I would like to see it. Otherwise, the Senate chose not to hold hearings. It was McConnell who blocked the hearings. If you have a link to where the whole Senate acted on it I would like to see it
Not nearly as afraid as the Democrats are of Kavanaugh. They fear him so much that they’ve determined to destroy him, just like they tried to destroy ThomasThey voted him down. Republicans were literally too afraid to bring Garland’s nomination up for a vote.
Yes, progressives believe so strongly they should hold power they are willing to happily blow up the constitutional system in order to have it.Don’t get too worked up about it. It’s just as constitutional to impeach justices and pack the court as it is to be too cowardly to vote on a nomination.
So, stop being vague. Are you saying here that Republicans are okay with violence against women? That’s a yes or no question.Let them have their fun with their (alleged) rapist reality show president and their (alleged) sexual predator justices and their 6 highest-ranking judiciary committee Republicans who voted against reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act (am I starting to notice a pattern here?) while they can.
Not me. This kind of nonsense needs to stop. Senator Brown in Ohio is facing accusations of domestic violence, with far greater evidence than the Kavanaugh case where there is no evidence. Now, I agree with Brown on virtually nothing. I find his politics detestable, but I’m very uncomfortable with the way the accusations are being used.On another similar topic, now closed, a poster mentioned that this same letter was used during the Gorsuch nomination, but not disclosed. I would like to know more about that. Does anyone have any more info on this?
Really? under age drinking means you don’t have a good record? We have had a president who admitted to using cocaine in his youth and it really seemed to be no issue but under age drinking is a problem???Kavanaugh has a good record as long as you do not include illegal underage drinking
Yes, the pattern is very noticeable (Bork, Thomas, Kavanaugh…)Don’t get too worked up about it. It’s just as constitutional to impeach justices and pack the court as it is to be too cowardly to vote on a nomination. Let them have their fun with their (alleged) rapist reality show president and their (alleged) sexual predator justices and their 6 highest-ranking judiciary committee Republicans who voted against reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act (am I starting to notice a pattern here?) while they can.
It would involve the FBI because it concerns the nomination of a federal judge. Not in sense that the FBI is coming in to break up a party when some high school kids parents are out of town.it may not even be the FBI’s jurisdiction, a teen get together?
