She also contradicts herself re SCOTUS appointments.Check into what she had to say on the subject a few years ago.

“Do you think the threshold of believability is the ownership of XX chromosomes?”
Amazingly, some do believe that, despite living proof to the contrary (e.g. Clinton, Feinstein, etc.)

What are they going to investigate?
The allegations. There were at least 6 people at the party, three of whom have been identified. Can we learn more from questioning about patterns of behavior of these people at that time that either support or vitiate the allegations? In the end, there may be nothing discovered that clarifies the situation at all, and people will be forced to vote with whatever facts they have available. But why foreclose on an investigation altogether?

If the FBI doesn’t feel an investigation is warranted at this time, then the Senate needs to move on with the confirmation process. Get 'er done!

So with out a hearing of both sides, she believes Dr. Ford is believable because she has XX chromosomes.
Dr. Ford is believable because there is no reason at this point to disbelieve her. And the fact that she has XX chomosomes shou not be held as a reason to disbelieve
Do you think the threshold of believability is the ownership of XX chromosomes?
No. Honestly, who does?
This implies: Men should have no say in situations like this, and that men don’t do the right thing.
I think that she would like men to break the patter of disbelief and listen before mansplaining the situation.
She should have used a qualifier since the statement cannot be made to all man, and also included reference to some women who also seem to be jumping the gun.

Ford has been offered the chance to testify. If she refuses, that’s on her. The whole “FBI must investigate first” thing is transparently stalling.

While not a court of law, she is advocating a punishment without due process.
Not getting confirmed to a lifetime appointment is not a punishment (unless I’m being punished and didn’t know it).
If she wants to be heard why is she stalling?
I’m shocked that she hesitated to commit to sitting at a table for hours next to the man who she claims sexually assaulted her.
Would you find what she said acceptable if a man said it and replaced the word “men” with “women”?
That wouldn’t be an acceptable thing to say because it wouldn’t be truthful. What Hirono did say is acceptable because it is truthful.

As opposed to the transparency of offering the “opportunity” to testify without other witnesses and being forced to sit next to her attacker. Republicans are in no danger of losing this seat on the Court. If they took sexual assault seriously they would take the time to investigate Ford’s claims fully. All indications are they don’t take sexual assault seriously.

“I’ve been trying to forget this all my life, and now I’m supposed to remember every little detail”

KMC:
Senator Hirono seems to be implying that Kavanaugh is guilty without any due process:
No. She is saying that Ford should not be dismissed and even vilified without a hearing.
Every shred of reasonableness will have disappeared from the nominating process.
What are you suggesting, that the allegations be summarily dismissed? Why?
Ford is a hero for making an accusation, which makes Kavanaugh guilty because he…has been accused.
Who is saying such a thing?
Right but the confirmation vote should not be stopped or postponed over this either. The judge can be confirmed and the investigation can continue. If their is any merit to the accusations in the investigation than we can look at taking Kavanaugh out. Why does the accuser get their day while we have to pass on the accused day.

I would think that most peopel woudl prefer to have the facts before casting their vote.
Why are you in such a rush to stop the vote!
Have I called for stopping the vote?
Why does it matter if the vote is held today, next Tuesday, or next month, or even in November, December, or early January? The same Senate will vote.

A vote is held and Kavanaugh is confirmed, but Republicans are tarred with the charge of indifference to women and suffer for it in the elections.
This is going to happen anyway, so the Repubs ought to hope for this.

So the Senate might not have a Republican majority by the time it comes up for a vote. That’s why Feinstein sat on it, to get as close as possible to the election but before the confirmation vote. And that’s the strategy still.

There are probably 100 more pro-abortionists who will eventually say the same.

First, Dr. Ford should be afforded the opportunity to make her case. Nobody, especially Sen Hirono, should be making any comments as to the believability or lackthereof of Dr. Ford or Judge Kavanaugh. Agreed?

Second, Sen Hirono’s own words indicate we should believe Dr. Ford because she is a woman. This is the plain meaning of her words: “Not only do women, like Dr. Ford, who bravely comes forward, need to be heard, but they need to be believed,”. I suppose you are interpreting her comments outside of the quote in the article?

I find myself greatly disagreeing with Sen Hirono’s own words, and agreeing with your explanations of what you think she was trying to say, although I have no way of know if she agrees with your explanations. Perhaps she should retract her original comments, or at least put more thought into her public statements.

This is the letter, posted on Facebook, from a woman who knew Kavanaugh, Judge and Blasey Ford and claims that the attack did happen, that “many of us heard about it in school,” and that it was talked about for days afterward. The FBI should interview her and others.
So there is more to investigate.

Almost. I don; see why, of all of those spouting off, you single out Sen, Hirono. This:
First, Dr. Ford should be afforded the opportunity to make her case. Nobody should be making any comments as to the believability or lackthereof of Dr. Ford or Judge Kavanaugh.
Second, Sen Hirono’s own words indicate we should believe Dr. Ford because she is a woman.
I think that that is your interpretation.
