If Mitch McConnell does his job ,rallying the Republicans, Kavanaugh will be appointed.

The hazards here are Collins and Murkowski. They consider themselves feminists and might feel bullied into opposing Kavanaugh because of the Ford allegations. Also, some of the less radical Dems like Heitkamp and Manchin might find this an excuse to vote against Kavanaugh.

If her testimony is to be taken seriously by the Senators, she will in all probability have to testify under oath. And she has agreed to testify under oath, after the FBI investigates her story.
Investigate what? They have her story, her letter, inconsistent and thin though it is. They have his denial. They have the statement from the only other person alleged to be involved. There is no evidence (she can’t identify the time or place, or even how old she was). And if she isn’t willing to speak to them and provide evidence, there is no investigation.

It is not hearsay or rumour when coming from those involved.
It is legally nothing more than that. File charges so due process can be served.
There may be a little more follow up, but I agree: it should be brief. And that is why all the objections to it make so little sense.
My objection is to the idea of investigating a crime that has not been legally alleged. And doing it with the FBI outside it’s jurisdiction. She should file charges in Bethesda.

Its going to be interesting to see if the people calling out Kavanaugh for an alleged groping event, will hold Booker to the same standard for an admitted event. Good bye White House, Sen Booker.

One could well doubt it. This gives the likes of Collins, Murkowski, Heitkamp and Manchin cover to vote against his confirmation instead of having to admit they’re voting against a potential prolifer simply because he’s Catholic.

Democrat bigotry may well win out in this. After all, anti-Catholicism is the “anti-Semitism of the left”.
Anti-semitism is the anti-Semitism of the left, too.

Naw. With the Dems it’s “boys will be boys”. Might run him for pres even so.

Because the other nomination was in a presidential election year and none other than Joe Biden said in the past that such should not be done during a presidential election year.

I think NRO first said there would be total proof this stuff was false, now the former Scalia law firm chimes in:

You can’t sugar coat how Heitkamp may vote, she is up for election, I don’t know about Manchin.

In the past, she has been reasonable on some issues, I read up on this but this year, she does seem to have been going with the Dems more.

But if she voted not to confirm, it would probably aid her opponent a lot, I thought they were already in a close race.

Former NJ governor Chris Christie could have appointed a conservative Republican to that seat but was fearful of creating a political rival.

So are you hoping Kavenaugh goes down? Sure sounds like it.
