Some seem to be sensitive and say others use ad homs, then, has little problem painting a whole side as being blind. A child being compared to a young lady is used. We only have the weakest of accusations that don’t even merit a trial, yet, you have people being arrested outright with solid evidence, doing rather invasive things and not one word about it. I don’t mean to repeat myself. I will not be argumentative. The things about forums is stating one’s opinions, not necessarily, debating. Debating must be done in good faith and good will.
This is the problem with saying “I will make no further comment on this particular matter.”

What words would you like? Seriously.
And how about all of the other crimes committed yesterday? What is to be said about all of that?

You may not have any interest in identity politics but identity politics will still be interested in you.

And my response will always be the same. Identity politics, intersectionality are, by definition, racism/bigotry. Judging someone, or ascribing a negative evaluation of an individual or group based on characteristics beyond their control is morally reprehensible and repugnant.

Seriously, there are threads that are dealing with these issues. Maybe you can address them in those topics or choose to ignore them.

I don’t believe this thread is about these other crimes in a generic way. It is related directly to civil disturbances, one hundred arrests in DC of protesters, threats and so on connected to this hearing.

A child claims to have been molested by a parent, a coach, a teacher, a priest. There is no evidence beyond the child’s claim. Do you view those who accept the allegation as entirely discarding the concept of justice?
In such cases CPS seeks corroborating evidence, which they usually find in cases of abuse.

I would actually have to count myself among those who have changed my mind on Kavanaugh over the past few days. Or at least, I am deeply conflicted.

Not because I believe Ford, because I am still skeptical of her claims, and there is no evidence at this point to support them. But there’s really no getting around the fact that he lied about a few things in the hearings, one of the obvious ones being his explanations for all the raunchy things on his yearbook page. His high-school yearbook in itself should carry no weight, and it’s ridiculous that it was even brought up; but he shouldn’t have lied about it. Bad sign. It is also unfortunate for him that he launched into the partisan rant against the Democrats, even though what he said may be true. A judge absolutely cannot display that kind of bias.

I feel bad for him nevertheless because this has all been a political circus of which he and his family have been the unfortunate victims. His good name will forever be tainted. And unfortunately, unfair though it may be, the cloud from these past few weeks will follow him to the Supreme Court and stay there and will probably undermine the credibility of the Court in many people’s minds.

If what he said was true then how can it possibly be considered bias? Further, he is not acting as a judge in those hearings, and his right to defend himself against such scurrilous charges is the same right we all possess.

“May” be true. It wasn’t the kind of thing you can say with certainty is true.

She might find it very tough to be approved saying things like that. But it is not an impeachable offense.
I see. Temperament and bias are only disqualifying prior to be confirmed. Afterward, it doesn’t matter. Gotcha.

So now you are speaking on behalf of other posters. How would you know if CL actually read the letter?

While is that surprising?
There are many things that would make a hiring authority look elsewhere but far fewer things that would cause someone to seek your dismissal. Different processes altogether.

The Senate is in an all-night (I don’t know if it really is all night) session but the Senate is discussing all of this, it’s on C-Span 2, channel 351 on direct tv. Pretty interesting.
