Supreme Court Ruling on Health Care

I sooo agree. 😃

I see this scenario with MIL. She’s pushing 60 and she decided to go to college and major in political science. Considering she has no people skills and isn’t quite all there in the head, I’m predicting that she is going to have a VERY hard time finding a job when she graduates. So, in about 2 years, she’ll graduate, can’t find a job and suddenly has to pay the gov’t back the $50 grand she just borrowed, while cleaning houses, and suddenly has to figure out how to buy health insurance.

Good grief, I totally forsee her being homeless and having to move in with me.
Um, if you mean the Affordable Care Act will make your MILs homeless, you are mistaken. The individual mandate does not apply to people who are exempt due to low income.

I’m waiting for the headline: Supreme Court Upholds Obama’s History-Making Tax Increase

šŸ˜›
To repeat:

This is NOT a massive tax increase, never mind the ā€œbiggest in historyā€.

The nonpartisan/conservative fact checker Politifact has labeled this charge against the ACA ā€œFalseā€ politifact.com/florida/st…est-tax-incre/

The tax is only applied if you refuse to have health insurance when you can afford it. It equals either $695 or 2.5% of household income for those, unless you are poor and therefore exempt.

Please note, this increase is LESS than the increase the Republicans would have created when they tried to block payroll tax exemption last year, which would have added 3.1% to the tax and cost families $1,500 a year on average.

Well one thing is for sure for us Republicans, Conservatives and Liberty lovers,
  • We must elect Republicans in the House
  • We must elect Republicans in the Senate
  • We must elect Mitt Romney to the Presidency
So we can overturn ObamaTax and try and pull America from the edge of the cliff.

Well if that is the case, then how exactly did this law accomplish anything? The whole point of it was to help those who can’t afford health insurance access to care. And with the medicaid part being struck down, the likely won’t happen…at least depending on what state you are in.

Scenario #2 let’s say MIL does find a job. It doesn’t pay much but just barely puts her above the limit where she’s required to buy it. With all of her debt and living expenses, she STILL cannot afford that premium.

This. is. a. mess.

My husband makes $26,000 a year and he’s the sole breadwinner. It’s just the two of us right now and we’re barely keeping our head above water. We’re going to have to buy health insurance because he makes a few grand above the cut-off. 😦

Today sucks. I pray that America wakes up and elects conservatives this November so this travesty of a law can be repealed.

Because of the Mexico City policy change alone. Lives will be saved almost immediately.

Sorry, I don’t share your optimism. When the tea party congressman went to Washington they all voted to increase the debt ceiling.

The only solution is mass non-compliance to everything. Live liberty, don’t ask authoritarian sociapaths for permission.

The Supreme Court has already ruled it is a TAX. I don’t care what some ā€œnonpartisianā€ fact checker says. It’s a tax. Period.

And not all those who wind up TAXED are going to be people who CHOSE not to buy health insurance but still couldn’t afford to buy it due to debt and financial obligations that they already have.

It is a tax. And it is unjust.

I have prayed for you both, Anne.

Keep the Faith.

You truly do have my sympathy. My blood is boiling right now for people like you. This doesn’t necessarily affect me. We can ā€œaffordā€ insurance (even if we have to scrimp) but I am sick to my stomach for all the other Americans who will be harmed by this law.

Did you write to your congressman…my problem with Conservatives and Republican constituents are that they are fat, lazy, slobs.

It’s not enough to just elect them…you gotta hold an axe in your hands and shout at them to keep reminding them that They represent YOU, and all they got is 2/4/6 years to prove they are representing you before you throw them out with someone new.

The answer is not electing the right people, but making it politically profitable for the wrong people to do the right thing.

What kind of cookies do you want us to send you while you’re in jail?:)šŸ™‚

I’m so sorry this has befallen you. I pray that the shackles of government are lifted from you.

Mini inthread opinion poll:

do you believe this increases or decreases (those are the ONLY two options šŸ˜‰ ) Romney’s chances of winning the Presidency?

I vote increases.

Blow-out! As long as Romney keeps searching for his inner-Reagan and stifles his inner-Bush/Rockefeller
