Greatly increases Obama’s chances, mainly because Obama will be seen as being vindicated through all this. The right claimed it was unconstituional, the SC found a way to make it constitutional…Obama looks like he just schooled the right.

I agree that it will motivate more of the majority of Americans who believe Obamacare should not have been passed in the first place.

It also increases my motivation to attend the Fortnight for Religious Freedom rally on Saturday here in Fort Wayne and the special Mass with Bishop Rhoades at 5 PM at our cathedral. This severe threat to our liberty needs to be fought on multiple fronts. That needs to start with an appeal to the King of Kings.

I’m thinking that those who are strongly opposed to this mandate don’t give a hoot who Obama “schooled” or whether the right was right or the left was right…(that was awkward, lol) Yea, there may be some that jump on the bandwagon as a matter of principle. But I think most of those opposed to this don’t need Obama or the Supreme Court telling them whether they should like this law or not.

The tax is only applied if you refuse to have health insurance when you can afford it. It equals either $695 or 2.5% of household income for those, unless you are poor and therefore exempt.

Please note, this increase is LESS than the increase the Republicans would have created when they tried to block payroll tax exemption last year, which would have added 3.1% to the tax and cost families $1,500 a year on average.

What an astute observation…you can’t guarantee decisions by cherry-picking justices or pouring money into political campaigns of candidates who promise such cherry-picking. The most we have control over, is what we believe and what we do.

That being said, let me congratulate the uninsured of America on the day their cry was heard…

I agree, most will not change their mind, but it does not take large numbers to give Obama a victory in November.

Beyond that, SC justice Roberts almost literally said: “we won’t save you from your dumb political choices.” More people will be suspicious of Democrats (and politicians generally) in the future, less willing to take a gamble on “hope and change” or whatever the smoke and mirrors de jour may be.
 
Great. Now the government is further involved. It will raise costs and be a wasteful disaster like every other program the government administers.

There is still no personal accountability. Individuals will still be forced to subsidize the cadillace group health plans, which encourage people to overuse the system for every sniffle and scrape.

We have a 10k deductible, for which we pay $640/month,and going up every year. My public union friends are whining because they have to pay $150 toward their care with a $500 deductible, including eyeglasses, office visits, prescriptions etc. As of last year, I had not been to see my physician in 12 years, and I have been sick in that time. We are force to make decisions. Cadillac group health plan folks do not have to make decisions. They can go as often as they want for whatever they want, and people like us get the privlege of subsidizing it.

Whatever. I’m one of those uninsured. This decision now means not only will I not have insurance, I won’t have food either.

Honestly, I think time will tell. Of course, emotions are high right now, but we’ll have to wait and see if it has a long term effect on voter perception.

I think the law getting struck down would have been devastating to Obama as it would have meant the dissolution of his biggest achievement as President.

Having the law upheld, though, may energize the Republican base. And it also brings the whole debate to the forefront again, which also highlights all the parts that people don’t like about the health care plan. Plus it introduces the dreaded “tax” word into the conversation. That’s not good for Obama.

That said, I’m sure Obama has some smart people running his campaign who will find a way to make everything look and smell like roses. So I have a hard time believing this signifies the death knell of his campaign.
