Greatly increases Obama’s chances, mainly because Obama will be seen as being vindicated through all this. The right claimed it was unconstituional, the SC found a way to make it constitutional…Obama looks like he just schooled the right.Mini inthread opinion poll:
do you believe this increases or decreases (those are the ONLY two options) Romney’s chances of winning the Presidency?
I vote increases.
How does one give up their citizenship while living here? Hmmmm…may have to look into that.Just claim illegal alien status… you wont haveto pay for going to the hospital then.
I agree that it will motivate more of the majority of Americans who believe Obamacare should not have been passed in the first place.Mini inthread opinion poll:

Where is there a better place? The earth is not Heaven. How does one give up their citizenship while living here? Hmmmm…may have to look into that.![]()
I really don’t think the money landslide is intended to fatten Romney’s personal wallet, do you?Ironic considering mandated health care coverage was first instituted by Romney as governor of Massachusetts. As if Romney needs more money.
I’m thinking that those who are strongly opposed to this mandate don’t give a hoot who Obama “schooled” or whether the right was right or the left was right…(that was awkward, lol) Yea, there may be some that jump on the bandwagon as a matter of principle. But I think most of those opposed to this don’t need Obama or the Supreme Court telling them whether they should like this law or not.Greatly increases Obama’s chances, mainly because Obama will be seen as being vindicated through all this. Never said I was going to leave the US.Where is there a better place? The earth is not Heaven.
Then my area is even more economically depressed than I realized. Or else I just really want to believe I’m Middle Class. My area isn’t exactly “high cost of living” compared to many other parts of the country. But here, a family making that kind of money is really, really struggling.
Oh, I don’t doubt you are right. But why should we let that get in the way of a good headline. To repeat:
This is NOT a massive tax increase, never mind the “biggest in history”.
The nonpartisan/conservative fact checker Politifact has labeled this charge against the ACA “False” politifact.com/florida/st…est-tax-incre/
The tax is only applied if you refuse to have health insurance when you can afford it. It equals either $695 or 2.5% of household income for those, unless you are poor and therefore exempt.
Please note, this increase is LESS than the increase the Republicans would have created when they tried to block payroll tax exemption last year, which would have added 3.1% to the tax and cost families $1,500 a year on average.
Be careful in your search. America is not the only country that (now) has a “Catholic tax”.How does one give up their citizenship while living here? Hmmmm…may have to look into that.![]()
What an astute observation…you can’t guarantee decisions by cherry-picking justices or pouring money into political campaigns of candidates who promise such cherry-picking. The most we have control over, is what we believe and what we do.IMO, this gaurantees Obama for a second term and beyond.
We also now conclusively know that it is impossible to know what we will get with any justices approved to the SC bench. Roberts went to the left.
I agree, most will not change their mind, but it does not take large numbers to give Obama a victory in November.I’m thinking that those who are strongly opposed to this mandate don’t give a hoot who Obama “schooled” or whether the right was right or the left was right…(that was awkward, lol) Yea, there may be some that jump on the bandwagon as a matter of principle. Beyond that, SC justice Roberts almost literally said: “we won’t save you from your dumb political choices.” More people will be suspicious of Democrats (and politicians generally) in the future, less willing to take a gamble on “hope and change” or whatever the smoke and mirrors de jour may be.I agree that it will motivate more of the majority of Americans who believe Obamacare should not have been passed in the first place.
“Catholic tax?”Be careful in your search. America is not the only country that (now) has a “Catholic tax”.
Whatever. I’m one of those uninsured. This decision now means not only will I not have insurance, I won’t have food either. What an astute observation…you can’t guarantee decisions by cherry-picking justices or pouring money into political campaigns of candidates who promise such cherry-picking. That being said, let me congratulate the uninsured of America on the day their cry was heard…
Wisconsin is in play. Wisconsin.I agree, most will not change their mind, but it does not take large numbers to give Obama a victory in November.
Look on the bright side: some of us lose favorite doctors, others have no doctors to lose…Well, my wife and I just lost our family doctor who we’ve had for over 20 years. He was waiting to see what would happen. He will now join a universal “concierge” service that will charge over $1700 per patient per year. We are on a fixed income and can’t afford an additional $290 per month in addition to other healthcare insurance costs.
Thanks to all Obama supporters.
Honestly, I think time will tell. Of course, emotions are high right now, but we’ll have to wait and see if it has a long term effect on voter perception.Mini inthread opinion poll:
