More likely they would have order the flag flown at half mast or some other sigh of mourning.Yeah, not so much. Iām guessing they would have simply not turned the lights on.

Yes of course ā the same āWhite Houseā that required Georgetown to cover up its crosses before Obama would speak there (which they should never have complied with).Im sure the White house had crosses, stars and crescents prepared to go on display had the ruling gone in the other directionā¦![]()
Yes. Of course there was. Superbowl T-shirt analogy is right on. A certain number printed up for both teams so theyāre prepared no matter the outcome. Same thing here, except you either flip the switch or you donāt. We know the President supports gay rights. How does this come as a surprise?Disneyland and the White House just happened to have rainbow colored light bulbs on hand? Obviously, there was some pre-planning involved.
The White House has been very supportive of gay rights. They knew this decision was coming. They were prepared to celebrate the decision. What about that is difficult to comprehend?LGBT prode month is federally recognized? If not, then why would it be celebrated at the white house?
I agree with the T-shirt analogy. Except we are talking the White House here. Teams? Ugh.Yes. Of course there was. Superbowl T-shirt analogy is right on. I called Home Depot and asked what color outdoor lighting they carry. Red, green, blue and yellow. He said all Home Depots carry the same merchandise. Why wouldnāt they have access to colored bulbs? Do they not have a Home Depot in DC or Orlando? And for that matter, both locations have lighting specialists ā itās their job to have a multitude of bulbs on hand. Your assumption sounds unnecessarily conspiratorial.
If they ever decide to, they can run down to Home Depot for those color lights. Theyāre in stock! Can anyone recall the White House being lit up for other occasions in the past? Do they use red and green lights at Christmas? Red, White, and Blue on Independence Day?
In book VIII of The Republic, Plato begins to describe several stages of government that are intolerable, yet unavoidable. Plato predicts a society with an enormous socioeconomic gap, where the poor remain poor and the rich become richer off the blood and sweat of others. In this instance, the people will long for freedom and liberty. They will use it as a battle cry against their oppressors, sparking a revolution.
From this revolution, blood will be spilled and many will die. During this time of violent transition, the people will rally behind one man, or a few men, whom they believe to be their savior. The people will lift this champion to great heights and anoint him with sacred responsibilities to bring liberty to the land. When the smoke clears the old regime will be gone and a democracy will be supplanted. And while this is reminiscent of several historical revolutions, including the American revolution, Plato warns that the trouble only intensifies from here.
I agree with the belief that democracy, though flawed, is the best form of government. But this article is great food for thought in view of this decision by the Supreme Court. We seem to be flirting with a kind of tyranny of equality stage - the two terms being interchangeable for all intents and purposes and, of course, sacrosanct. Mob rule I believe they call it - power aligns itself with freedom at the cost of order. Aka ālove wins.āDuring the course of his writings Plato differentiates between necessary desires and unnecessary desires. Necessary desires are desires we can not over come, such as our desire for shelter and sustenance. Unnecessary desires are desires that we are able to overcome, yet refuse to. These desires include luxuries and lavish possessions. These types of desires are a result of a rapid influx of liberty into the population. Once we have tasted freedom we become drunk off it. Plato predicts that the people will demand freedom at every turn, fighting any form of authority and demanding more liberty. We become obsessed with our freedom and become willing to sacrifice necessary things like social order and structure to attain it.
Your assumption that they would go to Home Depot to purchase rainbow colored lights at the last minute is unnecessarily ridiculous. Why wouldnāt they have access to colored bulbs? Do they not have a Home Depot in DC or Orlando? And for that matter, both locations have lighting specialists ā itās their job to have a multitude of bulbs on hand. Ugh, indeed. Our nation is more divided that it has ever been in my lifetime. E pluribis unum is our national motto; Iām not sure that itās accurate anymore. How can we be āoneā when we donāt share common values and culture? I believe we are witnessing the Balkanization of America. The south and middle of our country no longer share the same vision for our nation. This is evident in each presidential election after 1996. How long will our citizenry comply with the diktats from Washington, D.C.?I agree with the T-shirt analogy. Except we are talking the White House here. Teams? Ugh.
The point (to me) is not how they did it so quickly but that they did it AT ALL. Especially Disney, that is extremely disappointing. All this ājumping on the band wagonā stuff (for a ruling that will affect maybe 5% of the population?) sickens me.I get that some are speculating as to whether or not certain institutions may have known the outcome beforehand, but I donāt see how that makes any difference so I donāt understand the point.

When Iāve been at Disneyland, it was fairly obvious that the lighting was via tri colored lights, maybe LED, maybe incandescent, so it takes maybe a few minutes to program whatever color sequence you want.

This is a nation of people with different beliefs and viewpoints. The above action sounds like something done by a fraternity after winning the big game. Also, is this a common thing? Does the WH often change the color of its lights? Just wondering.
So is this ludicrous conspiracy theory thatās been circulated. And for what itās worth, I also noted that both the White House and Disney World employ lighting specialists on hand. Itās their job to stock an array of options.Your assumption that they would go to Home Depot to purchase rainbow colored lights at the last minute is unnecessarily ridiculous.
Yes, itās embarrassing. The whole world is watching too. We look like little kids throwing sand at each other in the sandbox. Itās no wonder the other world leaders (allies and foes) are moving on and forming new alliances; do they have a choiceā¦This is a nation of people with different beliefs and viewpoints. I honestly canāt believe weāre still discussing these light display.![]()
The conspiracy theory is that the SCOTUS ruling must have been leaked to the WH and Disney WorldAn opinion formed by observation is not conspiracy theory.
I am most certain that both the White House and Disneyland employ lighting specialists. What I disagree with is your suggestion that they could have run down to the local Home Depot for rainbow colored lights.
Please feel free to bow out of the conversation at any time - especially now that you have called those of us questioning the White House stooping to a new low by lighting up a rainbow like Disneyland, conspiracy theorists.
The work that is done to move one person out of the WH and another in, with completely custom everything is insane in scope and cost, and its done in something like 18 hours. The conspiracy theory is that the SCOTUS ruling must have been leaked to the WH and Disney Worldconfused
in order for these light displays to be put up the same day. A number of other possibilities exist: lighting specialists had lights on hand, the court was expected to rule as it did so these entities were prepared⦠Not all conspiracy theories are faulty, mind you. But you and others have provided ZERO evidence to support yours ā and no, a head scratch and disdain for both the ruling and light displays donāt count.
Whatās baffling is that folks care this much about light displays rather than focusing on the actual outcome of the ruling.
