Are you saying that the light display doesn’t have anything to do with the supreme court ruling?I honestly can’t believe we’re still discussing these light display.![]()

No purchase of “rainbow lights” is needed: the colors can be had via combinations of 3 LEDs; and WDW no doubt has enough of those to light a mid-sized town.An opinion formed by observation is not conspiracy theory.
I am most certain that both the White House and Disneyland employ lighting specialists. What I disagree with is your suggestion that they could have run down to the local Home Depot for rainbow colored lights.
Please feel free to bow out of the conversation at any time - especially now that you have called those of us questioning the White House stooping to a new low by lighting up a rainbow like Disneyland, conspiracy theorists.
I’m amazed that people are so angry over the White House rainbow lights thing. They’re reading way too much into it.The point (to me) is not how they did it so quickly but that they did it AT ALL. Especially Disney, that is extremely disappointing. All this “jumping on the band wagon” stuff (for a ruling that will affect maybe 5% of the population?) sickens me.
I can’t say that I believe information was leaked, only that it is hard to believe all of the coordination was last-minute.The conspiracy theory is that the SCOTUS ruling must have been leaked to the WH and Disney Worldconfused
in order for these light displays to be put up the same day. A number of other possibilities exist: lighting specialists had lights on hand, the court was expected to rule as it did so these entities were prepared… Not all conspiracy theories are faulty, mind you. But you and others have provided ZERO evidence to support yours – and no, a head scratch and disdain for both the ruling and light displays don’t count.
What’s baffling is that folks care this much about light displays rather than focusing on the actual outcome of the ruling.
I’ll ask you too. If the ruling would have gone the other way, how should the White House have responded?I’m amazed that people are so angry over the White House rainbow lights thing. They’re reading way too much into it.
This was only done for a couple of hours. For the remaining 364 nights of the year, the White House has been and will be lit by white lights. If the rainbow lights send a bad message, then what kind of message does the exclusive use of *white *lights send?
Shine green lights on the White House, to remind people of the numerous tax benefits that come from traditional marriage.I’ll ask you too. If the ruling would have gone the other way, how should the White House have responded?
I agree. I was responding to another person’s comment that they could have run down to Home Depot at the last minute for rainbow-colored lights. No purchase of “rainbow lights” is needed: the colors can be had via combinations of 3 LEDs; and WDW no doubt has enough of those to light a mid-sized town.

There’s no tax benefits given to gays that marry?Shine green lights on the White House, to remind people of the numerous tax benefits that come from traditional marriage.
No. But given the scope of the implications of the ruling, I would think that the light displays would be of significantly less import. Are you saying that the light display doesn’t have anything to do with the supreme court ruling?![]()
Hilarious…The White House has been very supportive of gay rights. They knew this decision was coming. They were prepared to celebrate the decision. What about that is difficult to comprehend?
They are both important.No. But given the scope of the implications of the ruling, I would think that the light displays would be of significantly less import.
If the decision had gone the other way, then the tax benefits most likely would have been removed. There’s no tax benefits given to gays that marry?
I thought that was one of the reasons for supporting ssm?
From the White House’s perspective, a segment of the population was granted a civil right.Hilarious…
And the government should celebrate why exactly? They are tools for the people -they’re not supposed to have an opinion.![]()
That’s because not everyone feels that their sexual orientation requires a color scheme. If the decision had gone the other way, then the tax benefits most likely would have been removed.
Thus, gays could marry members of the opposite sex to gain said benefits. I’ve heard many people pre-Supreme Court that “gays were free to marry people of the opposite sex”.
I know it’s a stretch, but the traditional marriage didn’t come up with any easily recognizable symbols, such as a rainbow.
They are not of equal importance. Not even close. They are both important.
