I don’t know about the practicing part…

She did a pretty raunchy scene in that movie Brown Bunny.

Consider the source: Wikipedia.
Yeah, I think raunchy is an understatement. If she is practicing…I don’t know exactly what she’s practicing.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Chloe Sevigny, she was amazing in Big Love. But after the Brown Bunny scene I never would have pegged her as religious at all.

I know nothing about the lady’s personal life to be honest. I don’t know if she went to confession over it (Mark Wahlberg says he visits with his priest back in Mass regularly). I just find it hard to believe (face value).

I wasn’t so much surprised by Frieda Pinto ( Slumdog Millionaire fame) being catholic, as her breaking off her engagement to her catholic fiancee and dating Dev Patel, who has hindu parentage ( I don’t know if he is a practicing hindu).

If Dev and Frieda decide to marry in future that they should be aware of the extra care needed in mixed marriages.

Another catholic Bollywood actress, Genelia D’Souza married her hindu husband Riteish Deshmukh in a hindu ceremony this year, followed by the catholic ceremony later.

Lets pray both ladies stay committed to the faith.

He wasn’t always as devout as he is now. In fact, almost being killed on 9/11 is one thing that has made him much more devout in his faith.
I am cutting Mark Wahlberg slack on Boogie Nights – his current film Ted is another matter.

I read somewhere Al Pacino is an observant catholic. Fiona Shaw(Aunt Petunia in Harry Potter) is a lapsed Catholic. She went to a Catholic school in County Cork Ireland. I think Scorsese is another lapsed Catholic. Hollywood’s got plenty of fomer Catholics. lol.

Hey whatever it takes. Sometimes it takes a heavenly “slap in the head” to bring you back. 😉

I read an article sometime after Brown Bunny came out that said she was pretty traumatized once she finally saw that scene. Perhaps that drove her back to her faith?

Everything I’ve read says the backlash traumatized her. She really wasn’t expecting that negative reaction. But she made many public statements defending the movie, the director, and her role.

Yes, her Wikipedia article says she returned to the faith around 1998, but Brown Bunny came out in 2005. So it would appear that she is “re-lapsed.”

I could be misremembering what I read, although I thought she had spoken negatively of the whole experience. It was more recent than the articles alluded in her Wikipedia entry, but long enough ago that I couldn’t begin to think of where I’d read it.

So…is Marty Stuart Catholic? I googled it but didn’t really find anything…

John Wayne was Catholic - Cool!

Bill Murray’s (the comedian) sister is a nun. 🙂

Sr. Nancy Murray was my Theology teacher when I was a senior in high school.

She now lives in Colorado.

Jimmy Kimmel is a Catholic and actually defends the faith at times (although not soundly as he tends to put his comedy first), nonetheless, when I heard him defending the faith in an argument with his atheist friend and fellow comedian Adam Carolla I was quite stunned.

Jimmy Kimmel has made “jokes” that are incredibly low-brow and offensive, and that’s coming from someone who often enjoys low-brow humor and is not easily offended.

yeah he’s all over the place haha partly why I was so astonished to hear him defending the faith; and he has mentioned many times that’s he’s not a good catholic. He’s definitely someone I would not look up to, but still an intriguing celebrity.

That is definitely astonishing in light of some things he has said.
