Even that is a gross over simplification of belief standards, especially in the more educated first world nations. From different polls, it is quite apparent that the majority of Catholics from the USA, Canada and Western Europe do not stand with the dogma of the Church on hot button issues such as ABC, LGBTQ ISSUES, and reproductive technology. Yes, I do think that in the next fifty years the RCC will soften her views and very slowly move into the new millennium.
And the majority do not get to rule regarding matters of salvation. (Please check out my signature line.)

Why do we continue to believe that the moral law, which is God’s own divine law, can ever be changed? The Catholic Church does not belong to the pope, or to the bishops, nor to the theologians…she belongs to Christ!

You are absolutely right. In the years to come, men and nations may make almost anything legal. That does NOT change the law that God has given us. Legal, another words, does not mean right. One day each of us will stand before the throne of God in final judgment. Somehow I doubt that the answer “But it was legal…” will count a lot at that moment.
