Suspected gunman dead after Colorado shooting spree

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Four people are dead, including a suspected gunman, following a shooting spree in Colorado Springs on Saturday…

…Multiple witnesses told KKTV the suspect went on a shooting rampage in the minutes leading up to the gun battle with police outside a Wendy’s.

“I looked out my kitchen window and I saw a man in a green jacket firing an AR-15…waited a few seconds, went out my house, looked to my left and saw a man down the street, probably 50 feet. I started calling him and I called the cops,” witness Matt Abshire told The Colorado Springs Gazette.

Ho-hum…another day of rampage killing in America. Thx NRA.

The gun proponents will just say that that would not have happened if **everybody **had been armed, as someone would have shot the culprit as he was lining up his first shot.

Don’t you just love spin???

Would you deny someone the right to self-defense?

Where is the murder rate worse?

Colorado Springs or Chicago.

Would we then say:
“Ho-hum… Another day of killing in America. Thanks Liberals.”

Yep. Chicago has had 15 people shot in just 12 hours this weekend. And Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the country! And it’s been persistently run by liberal Democrats. But, no, gun violence is due to conservatives and the NRA 🤷

It is… if there are guns guns guns… they end up in the wrong hands…It has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with the ease of accessibility of firearms.

No.

I like facts, and the fact still remains that areas with gun control are much less safe.

Which area is more populated with people living in poverty Colorado Springs or Chicago? It’s like comparing apples with oranges…

No.

I like facts also and there is no proof that less gun control makes places safer… It just brings in more guns and potential for shootings accidental or otherwise…

Even if congress appealed the second amendment to the constitution guns would still go into the hands of criminal organizations and crime rates would skyrocket though the roof.

Well Congress will never appeal it, but there should be more regulations on gun sales…There’s entirely too many people obsessed with guns… We monitor the sale of prescription drugs, likewise there should be more monitoring of guns…

Yup, it’s all the NRA’s fault. The NRA got the gun. The NRA pulled the trigger.

So what’s next? Another round of “gee, I’'m surprised they turned on me and are persecuting my Church even though I agree with them on this one issue?”

Sure there is: just look at Chicago, Detroit or DC.

Also, nearly every single mass shooting in the USA has occurred in a gun-free zone.

So please tell me what guns are doing in a gun-free zone?

Chicago is very close to becoming a failed city.

Passing more gun laws and raising more taxes will not disarm the gangs, and as long as the gangs operate with impunity, those who can pay the taxes are going to find some better places to live than right in Chicago.

If black lives really do matter, then that means that existing gun laws need to be enforced, that the police need to be empowered with something like stop and frisk, and that the gangs that are taking so many black lives need to be disarmed.

Actually, gun control in America was proposed by gangster bosses who were angry that their guys were getting shot while in the processing of attempting criminal behavior.

So the idea that it’s somehow properly religious to support gun control because it sounds good is 1) nonsense and 2) tells me that folks are falling for progressive talking points 3) they just want one or issues they can use to impress their secular friends and family.

Just please at least THINK about that before sending me e-mails and replies along the lines when the government further encroaches on the Church:

“Why, golly gee, I’m surprised!”

Or better yet—which area has more gun control?

If a crook wants a firearm, all the laws in the world won’t stop him/her.

What do criminals do when it comes to laws?

Actually before folks speak out about gun free zones they better understand that present laws allow the same person (who is a street gun dealer) to buy many many guns legally. Now if there were laws preventing that which monitored and limited the gun sales, that street gun dealer would be limited in how many guns he could sell illegally on the streets. The Police are collecting them by the droves but to as many guns they collect more are getting back on the street… Having more guns available is NOT the answer, It is a fallacy that more guns means less shootings. That’s like saying if drugs were made more available, there would be less using them.

Actually Chicago is a thriving beautiful city in most places, and a dangerous city where there is poverty, the two going hand in hand. Don’t let the media keep you from it. Ever hear about what rents are in most places in Chicago? People are clambering to live there because I believe it is the most beautiful city in the world. But all citys have crime and Chicago is no exception. And it is not comparable to Colorado Springs. Colorado Springs has a half million whereas Chicago has 3 million in the city proper alone and 3 mil in the surrounding suburbs. To make that comparison is really missing the point. Taxes are based on income and demographics so those who have little pay less taxes, and people who live in the impoverished areas of Chicago can’t just pack up and leave as you say or they would.

Easier said than done… How often to we hear of another officer down… Now black lives do matter and existing gun laws are enforced every day, but as I said before there’s ways around those laws because they are too lenient. All too often we hear about accidental shootings, a child picks up his fathers firearm, or a drive by of someone who was trying to shoot another target. But these are in neighborhoods where poverty is prevalent. The faith communities offer some solace and support against the gangs and are speaking out against gangs and guns, but as long as people believe black lives don’t matter, and they live in their secluded world thinking NRA is a godsend, change will be difficult. Hey we’re Catholic, followers of Jesus and as such we’re supposed to care for the poor not push it off on someone else or say the problem is too great to do any good. There are Catholics and Christians in the trenches who are angels in white, but the problem is with their youth who feel there is no hope so join up in gangs where they can feel tough and given some false hope in the wrong things…Often the ones we hear about who get shot are those who have chosen another better path to get out of there but never made it.

They don’t even have good schools there, how would anyone expect them to be able to get a job wherever they want and sustain themselves. Many don’t even finish high school. $55,809 is the average income in Colorado springs… Most people living in the areas of Chicago we’re speaking about are living below the poverty line. Yes here in America…45 million Americans live below the poverty line, many in the big cities like Chicago. It’s a great problem and one that is not easily solved.
