Actually before folks speak out about gun free zones they better understand that present laws allow the same person (who is a street gun dealer) to buy many many guns legally. Now if there were laws preventing that which monitored and limited the gun sales, that street gun dealer would be limited in how many guns he could sell illegally on the streets. The Police are collecting them by the droves but to as many guns they collect more are getting back on the street… Having more guns available is NOT the answer, It is a fallacy that more guns means less shootings. That’s like saying if drugs were made more available, there would be less using them.
You mean like how restricting the amount of pseudoephedrine you can purchase as made it harder to get methamphetamine? Or wait, that hasn’t happened, has it? It has made it harder for law abiding allergy sufferers who have to take inferior allergy medications, so there’s that.

I keep seeing more and more gun free zone stickers in my area. I would have to imagine that to psychopaths that translates to “Good Hunting” signs, and I believe Donald Trump has made similar comments.

Restricting the sale of pseudoephedrine has not inhibited law abiding allergy suffers from taking the prescribed amount of medicine. However you may think that the extra step in producing a drivers license to get that is harder. The way I look at it is so what, if it helps others I will abide… Isn’t that the Christian way?

Thats absolutely ridiculous. There is no evidence which suggests an increase in shootings because places are designated as gun safe zones. There were shootings in public places way before these signs went up. In fact they went up BECAUSE of the concealed weapon law allowing more guns to be carried conspicuously causing places to be unsafe.OF COURSE we don’t want just anyone to have guns in public facilities. This is not the Wild Wild West times we’re living in. Now those signs are being used by NRA members as an excuse to further their political agenda. The recent college shooting in Oregon happened on a campus that had no gun free laws… If psychopaths are gonna go on a shooting spree that’s what they’re going to do… So how does a psychopath get a gun anyway? Because of lax gun laws… If having guns make us safer why are they not allowed in airports or the Capital buildings? If I knew that people in my Church carried guns into the parish I might think about attending that Church because I don’t like to be around guns. I don’t believe anyone is safe around guns, that’s why there is a need for gun safety training. It’s too easy to make a mistake and have them go off accidently or purposefully and kill a person in an instant. BTW Donald Trump opinions holds no weight on me.

It’s that “helps others” bit that is in dispute. Who are the “others” and what is the “help.” As long as there is disagreement between people of good will the issue is open to debate. After all, Christianity does not mean “turn your brain off,” or follow consensus for consensus sake, or other anti-reasoning methods of decision making.

For the greater good of others we abide. The others are those who are sick, or the less fortunate among us… No need for sidestepping it’s very simple to understand Christian principles. We put the needs of others before ourselves…Read the story of the Good Samaritan to learn more…

Okay so someone asks us to donate to a particular charity… It’s inconvenient and we may not want to be asked (after all we only came to buy some groceries), maybe that money could be spent on a candy bar or a Whopper, but instead it’s dropped in the box for the charity… For the greater good! Yep it may mean turning your brain off and listening from your heart because others mean something no matter what they’re sick from, they are sick… Same goes to prevent psychopaths from getting guns, we may have to go through some stricter regulations. Regulations that make sense. God gave us laws, not because He wanted us to live miserable lives because we are kept from doing anything we want, but to help us become better and happier people overall.

And still, there are people of good will who substantially differ in their opinion on this issue. It is not cut and dried just because you yourself hold an opinion, or a feeling about it. Your idea of “the greater good” is not the same as mine, or others it seems.

No it isn’t. Maybe you can explain why you think that more guns are looking out in the best interest of all. Cause its not. More guns mean more potential of killings. yes how can we speak out about the unnecessary shootings in our world, when we have a problem with that in the United States.

Another example has been the HUGE crackdown on Heroin, the creation of many new laws to deal with this, increased LE budgets, etc. yet Heroin OD deaths are higher than ever, the drug is still easily available in most every city in the US.

How long should they go on, expecting different results from doing the same exact thing? I believe that is the literal definition of the word ‘insanity’.

It seems they are too stupid to recognize they cannot regulate their way out these problems.

It’s the mentality that’s a canker in our nation of we get what we want when we want it. Just like guns. We have parents who drink for every occasion that comes up and have love for guns, so why wouldn’t their children feel the same? We model behavior to our children.

Heroin use is on the rise because children are not satisfied with their lives. There’s much dysfunction and much crying out by our children who are looking for something to fill that void that’s not being filled by normal means. By normal I mean a stable faith filled family. Everyone wants more instead of realizing that what they had all along was all they needed. And that is our time. You don’t stop the problem after its a problem you stop the problem before it begins and that is in the home and our communities.

Gravity means more potential deadly falls, automobiles mean more traffic fatalities, the invocation of “potential” anything is meaningless because you don’t know the future. My philosophy does not include indiscriminate regulation that covers “what if” possible scenarios, but plausible scenarios. Murder is a cause of death, an action perpetrated by an actor, a human making a choice. Blindly regulating anything because of fear or apprehension will not guarantee good laws, but will result in unintended consequences due to lack of information. It is clear that you fear, don’t like, and are apprehensive about firearms, so I question the value of your opinion about them.

Suspected gunman dead after Colorado shooting spree

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Four people are dead, including a suspected gunman, following a shooting spree in Colorado Springs on Saturday…

…Multiple witnesses told KKTV the suspect went on a shooting rampage in the minutes leading up to the gun battle with police outside a Wendy’s.

“I looked out my kitchen window and I saw a man in a green jacket firing an AR-15…waited a few seconds, went out my house, looked to my left and saw a man down the street, probably 50 feet. I started calling him and I called the cops,” witness Matt Abshire told The Colorado Springs Gazette.

Ho-hum…another day of rampage killing in America. Thx NRA.
He called… for** gunmen**? Perhaps the station should have sent bobbies armed with whistles and nightsticks?

So be it. I don’t like Heroin either and rather it not be around me. Does that mean my opinion is not valid? That’s just illogical. Guns have the potential to kill in one slip of the trigger. It would be you whose opinion I should not value if you don’t see the harm in guns. Murder is not aways caused on purpose with guns, often it happens on accident… Often it’s a childs game that causes a killing. Yes I see you don’t want ANY regulation because nothing to you would suffice as a reason to be concerned, and that’s a problem. To have no fear of guns IS a problem.

A police is a trained professional, who is continually trained on weaponry and how to handle situations such as this. No one ever said anything about police not carrying weapons, though sometimes they walk into public places with 4 guns on their hip and I think Really?? 4 of them?? Calling a police is not like calling the drunk guy next door who has no fear of guns and think of guns as a hobby or plaything. People think more than what they should about themselves. What the heck was a guy doing with an AR-15 in the first place? That question doesn’t seem to turn any heads for the gun happy peeps.

The idea behind gun-free zones is that no one, including a criminal, would bring in a gun. So the idea that it needs any kind of further explanation or excuse just goes to show what a dismal failure gun control is.
Now if there were laws preventing that which monitored and limited the gun sales, that street gun dealer would be limited in how many guns he could sell illegally on the streets. The Police are collecting them by the droves but to as many guns they collect more are getting back on the street…
The whole point to the 2nd Amendment and owning your own weapons is that the government cannot always protect oneself, which is conceded in the prior point in that police can’t keep up.

That’s old news.
Having more guns available is NOT the answer, It is a fallacy that more guns means less shootings.
Gun control is not the answer. People can decide for themselves whether or not to own a gun.

Criminals who really want them will always find ways to get them no matter big and well-intention government is.
That’s like saying if drugs were made more available, there would be less using them.
So then why didn’t Prohibition work?

I thought police were running around shooting unarmed black men. But when it comes to arguing gun control, they’re what? Prim and proper professionals?

See, this is one of the many problems whenever progressive arguments are taken up.

PS— most gun owners take their ownership seriously as well, and I wouldn’t be surprised if some of them were better at using their guns than the police.
Guns have the potential to kill in one slip of the trigger
So does someone who hits the accelerator instead the break on a vehicle.

LOL! It is certainly valid to you, but as an opinion that would limit another person’s rights, not so much. Your use of all-caps is hardly convincing, and circumstantial evidence that you are making a mis-characterization of my position. If you took the time to read the “black part” you would see that I object to indiscriminate regulation, and one of the forms of indiscriminate regulation is fear driven emotional judgements in spite of the facts. Courting outrage is not an argument, and it weakens your position.

Before, you didn’t need a prescription to buy pseudoephedrine, now in many states you do. Now, if you’re going to make people jump through a bunch of hoops to get pseudoephedrine, shouldn’t you have to show that doing so makes it harder to get methamphetamine, which is the goal of the restriction? By the same token, if you’re going to make it harder for law abiding citizens to procure firearms, shouldn’t you have to show that places with stricter policies on firearms are safer than those without? In other words, shouldn’t you have to demonstrate at least, a positive correlation between strict gun laws and low rates of murder?

An AR-15 is among the most common weapons owned by civilians. It’s excellent for home defense, and medium game and predator hunting. It’s very easy to shoot, which is especially important for women and very customizable. Why should seeing one freak anybody out?
