Lorrie:Your “darling” tells me about your anger towards people that hold a different opinion about a subject. This is supposed to be a thread in which people exchange their ideas , which sometimes do not coincide.
Also do not state untruths, especially for the sake of those contemplating tattoos.
Laser does NOT erase it entirely. After a lot of money is spent, you can still tell .
For those out there with tattoos enjoy them, and if you are planning on more,
always make sure you follow the instructions carefully so that you do not get an infection.
My 2 cents:)

I’m not angry in the slightest, me saying, “Darling” was out of sweetness and me trying to handle you with kid gloves.

Precisely. It also helps to at least try and comprehend the other side of the coin instead of steadily asking questions, getting answers and then ignoring the answers such as…

I’ve seen three people’s skin after a tattoo was removed via laser surgery. I saw absolutely no scarring, nothing. It looked like nothing had ever happened (tattoo or laser.) You call one place regarding the laser surgery and now you’re an expert??

👍 Reading the material they give you after getting a tattoo is of the utmost importance. This is very good advice. Take good care of it and you will have a beautiful tattoo that you can be extremely proud of.

as for removing tattoos and scarring, a lot of the scarring comes from the tattoo itself. i have two where the artist went too deep and i can feel the skin is raised in some of the area. so even if i did laser off the ink the scar and raised skin are there and not going away.

so i definitely wouldn’t get the tattoo with the idea of getting it wiped clean down the road.

also i personnally know a couple tattoo artists and i will say they typically run with a crowd where drug use is heavy, they’re kinda 1%'ers. i would be very careful and make certain they take the needles from the autoclave in front of you etc… just use your head and be careful.

All I know is what I’ve seen, this definitely makes sense though. There’s nothing worse than a heavy-handed artist.

The places I’ve always gone to use one needle and then the needle goes into a sharp’s container and it’s picked up by the appropriate people for disposal (I’ve actually witnessed this being done). You know of places that actually reuse needles??

I would report them to the health department if I was you.

almost all tattoo parlors re-use needles, they are expensive surgical equipment and they have a myriad of different types some are a grouping of ten needles in one for shadowing etc… no tattoo artist throws these away everytime it would cost $500 or more to replace all needles used each tattooo. as long as they are autoclaved properly this is fine.

Lorrie, I confess I am not an expert in tattoo removal, but I have been working in the medical field for 30 years and I obtained some experience regarding tattoos.
It is only fair to let people contemplating tattoos know of different experiences.Would’nt you say?
I doubt you called me "darling"out of sweetness towards me.
If you derive pride from a tattoo that you did not even do the art yourself, fine.
Pride is not such a good thing anyways, but if you are going to be so proud I would hope it is for more meaninful deeds that getting tattooed .
Having put more than enough time to help people contemplating tattoos get different opinions.I am out of this thread and back to my duties. 👋

If you derive pride from a tattoo that you did not even do the art yourself, fine.
if no one but the artist was allowed or expected to appreciate art there wouldn’t be any artists in this world. when you look at a degas or monet? or the pieta do you not enjoy the art even though you didn’t create it?

what part of “You shall not tattoo yourselves” do you not understand? the Lord said no tattoo’s Period!
but that’s right along with “you shall not cut your hair” not the exact quote but it’s right after the tattoo thing. however, i do believe tattoos are superficial and that the money and there’s never a good enough reason to alter the beautiful skin God has blessed you with.

You don’t get my point. I’m simply saying you should think for yourself. Are we really all blind religious sheep that can’t live a second of their lives without self-discernment and have to depend on the clergy to know everything?

I’m simply making the comparison for the sake of the argument. Tattoos are a trivial issue compared to what I’ve cited which is why its something you’re better off discerning for yourself without troubling a priest when he’s probably got bigger moral concerns.
I don’t agree. what may not seem like a big thing to you, may be a big deal to someone else. just because some women go to the preist and inquire about abortions, i shouldn’t ask him about his opinion on a tattoo because it’s a waste of time? it’s my choice to take it or leave his opinion, but i’ll hear what he has to say. i don’t think there’s any reason to not go to others for counsel even if you think it’s a trivial matter, it’s obviously of some significance to you and that’s all you need. if he doesn’t have the time, why would he take the time to listen to you?

IF it was sinful, the Catechism would mention tattoos. But it doesn’t, which makes it a personal choice, much like what color shirt to wear or whether you order squash* for dinner.

Please stop trying to make people feel guilty by turning your personal opinions into a new section of the Catechism.
yes, what i posted earlier is all my personal opinion about tattoos. anyway, it up to the person right- if they don’t think it’s wrong, then for them it’s not- it’s their way of life as long as they try to be good…my ears are pierced…is that wrong? no, because it’s my culture, i had them pierced when i was 7 months. i think even a priest told me in confession that if i really don’t think what you’re doing is “wrong” (and its not deemed a sin by the catholic church) then it’s fine…it’s specific to your circumstances.

I have the Vatican seal on my bicep and the sacred heart on my chest. Planning on getting a snake with his head crushed on my arm next! Nothing wrong with tats, I find the pain while getting one is great to offer up to Jesus!
LOLLLOLOLOLOLOLL!!!

Forget the tattoo questions…!! that picture is hilarious…😃

What’s wrong with you people thinking that tattoo’s are alright! God mad it quite clear that you are not to get tattoo’s.

Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.
Leviticus 19:28
That ought to be the last word on this, but some of you refuse to see it.

I might put it this way…

Tatoos… Oh NO…!!!

I don’t want any grafitti on my house… so why would I want any on my body…???

And kinky body piercings…? Hell NO…! I don’t want any holes in me that I wasn’t born with.

Consider, a little Anthropology lesson here…

You know… all of the Paliolythic tribal people of the world ( 'Nuther words… all of the world’s “Savages” ) had certain things in common. Tatoos and body piercings. You see… the Savages in Borneo had no contact with the savages of the Inca tribes of South America or the Watussi tribes of Africa. And The savages in the Polynesian Islands knew nothing about the savages in some other place like South Dakota in the time of their tenuous existance and yet that all had certain things in common… Tatoos and kinky body piercings. Do this… take a good look at a picture of Dennis Rodman and then look at a picture of a specimen of a paleolythic tribal person in any Anthropology text book… You’ll get the picture.

Christ told his deciples that we would know that the end times are near when things will be like it was “…in the times of Noah.” The times of Noah means in times of the paliolythic tribes, or in the days before there was any “civilization”.

Your Tatoos and kinky body piercings are a sign of the times… any YOU can’t see it.

And then is the matter of modesty.
I imagine when you enter these parlors you may very well have to deal with a tattoooist of the opposite sex.You may have to unrobe, unless it is the arm or the ankle you want tattooed.
I have seen art in bellys, breast tops, lower, lower back, etc.which would require
some undressing. Then you have the tattooist working on you at very close proximity,
for maybe half an hour or even more,I guess depends on the complexity of the design.
If the client happens to be young and attractive may awaken all sorts of thoughts
in the poor artist.
One of the posters I believe, said there is music and a lot of “interesting” people around.
Would you like your wife to be in that situation, which could be even risky among some extrange people? Where does the concept of modesty fit here?
I know my husband would not like it at all.

You do know those same tribes ‘savages’ are now gone or on the verge of extinction because of self-righteous pricks like you right? God knows how much of my country’s cultural heritage would’ve been saved had not the ‘civilized’ Spaniards torched them in their ‘cleansing’ bonfire sessions.

Setting that aside, I really like it how you always dodge the fact that even graffiti could be artistic.

You’d be surprised folks on how many times Maso here’s been presenting this same uncharitable rhetoric that I don’t understand why he hasn’t been banned yet.

So where do you stand on going to see the doctor? What if the doctor is attractive, do you refuse treatment because of awkward thoughts?

I respect your opinion, but why do you try to make others feel guilty for doing something that isn’t wrong?

That ought to be the last word on this, but some of you refuse to see it.
Why don’t you read a few verses before that one Maso before acting all high and mighty because you read one verse in Leviticus.

If you read a few verses before that, you’ll see a part that says, “Keep my statutes: do not breed any of your domestic animals with others of a different species; do not sow a field of yours with two different kinds of seed; and do not put on a garment woven with two different kinds of thread.”

What kind of clothes are you wearing? Unless it’s 100% of one material, you are just as “guilty” as those with tattoos. Oh, and my mother has a garden that has jalapenos and tomatoes growing in it. Perhaps I should send her your way so you can tell her what a sinful person she is for breaking a commandment in Leviticus 19.

Especially when other rules in Lev. 19 are pointed out. I’d like to get his thoughts on the whole “Do not put on a garment woven with two different kinds of thread.” Odds are he says it’s a cultural issue and tattoos are not, despite only being separated by a handful of verses.

I ahve a tattoo on my Shoulder. It is of a Sword and a shield with a tattered banner coming across it. IT has written on the banner Ephesians 6:16-17, which I now have commited to memory.

TO THE PERSON WHO SAID God said no tattoos. You need to reread Leviticus 19 again and stop twisting the truth of God’s word. IT does not say no tattoos. IT SAYS do not get marked or mutilate yourself like the pagans do in mourning for the dead… IN MOURNING FOR THE DEAD!

There is damn good reason we do should not get Tattoos IN mourning for the dead. Because those people that your mourning ARE NOT DEAD. They are either ALIVE in heaven or ALIVE in Hell.

I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ and I will scream it to the world in any way I can including tattoos. Heck i would tattoo the whole bible on my Skin if had enough room, just so that if this world ever took away bibles they would have to skin me to take mine away.

Learn your bible and learn what it actually says. STOP picking out parts that fit your ideals and Read it as God said Not what you said.

Oh and by the way I am getting another one. It will be on my other shoulder It will have a Celtic Cross and it will say under it “Christ before me, Christ Beneath me, Christ Beside me, Christ be known by all who meet me.”

My last statement on tattoos. I will tell my children this, My future wife this… IF you would be ashamed to stand before Christ with them, then it is a sin and forbid you. IF however you truthfully say I am not ashamed to stand before my God with them and the ones you want have meaning and they represent our God and give him Glory. Then go ahead, I will even drive you to the Parlor.

Perhaps you should go into a tattoo shop just to see what it’s like? Just walking into one won’t mean that you’re going to hell. You can actually watch a tattoo being done, you can meet some of the artists and get an idea of what they’re all about. It’s actually nice to open your mind a little bit.

Moving on, you will usually find both sexes of tattoo artists in shops. You can always request an artist of the same sex to do your tattoo, this really isn’t an issue.

I have a tattoo on my lower back, I didn’t have to undress in any way. If other people have to undress for a tattoo it’s their business, definitely not mine. There is always at least 1 private room where the client and tattoo artist can go into in case the client is getting a tattoo on a private area of the body.

After reading the above quoted post by you, Tamsulosin, I called a friend of mine that is a tattoo artist and asked him how he felt about working (tattooing) on a rather intimate part of the body of an attractive female. He said (verbatim), “I’m too busy putting all my effort into the tattoo to think about nonsense. The last thing on my mind is sex.” I’m stating what my friend said, of course it varies from person to person. Something you don’t realize, Tamsulosin, is the person is putting a tattoo on someone, this is serious business, artists are just that, artists. They want their work to be perfect not only because the person with the artwork on them is going to be living with said artwork, but also because people are going to be asking the client “Who did your work?” The artist doesn’t want to ruin his/her good name.

Impure thoughts can happen anywhere, not just in tattoo shops. Who knows, maybe the last time you were in line at the grocery store the guy behind you was staring at your butt thinking impure thoughts - it can happen anywhere.

Most tattoos take more than a half hour (just FYI).
Would you like your wife to be in that situation, which could be even risky among some extrange people?
I’ve seen a lot of couples in shops. Men getting tattooed while his wife/girlfriend watches and vice versa. I’ve also seen people in there who aren’t “with” anyone - are they married? Do they have a significant other? I don’t really care as it’s none of my business.
I know my husband would not like it at all.
