Tea party wins in northeastern primaries could bode well for Democrats

Has anybody taken the trouble to ask whether one CAN see Russia from Alaska in certain places? Has anybody looked at a map of the world lately? The Bering Strait is pretty relatively narrow. If you climbed a great height and looked across to the west, who’s to say one could not see glimpses of mountains or other places in Russia?
Plus there’s the Aleutian Islands—which are also close to Russia. Is there somebody from Alaska here who can corroborate this?

The media basically took what it wanted to take from those remarks and twisted them to conform to their preset image of the woman. 🤷

Not surprising. And SNL is unabashedly liberal—they had a stake in ridiculing her character.
So sad when people get their news from SNL
Do many even know that Sarah never said I can see Russia from my front porch, do you know the actual answer?
or do you just get your political news from snl, and comedy central?

After Sarah Palin announced her now oft-repeated line that "you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska,"
The island is called Little Diomede. It looks like a rock plopped into the Bering Strait. Only about 150 Alaskans live on the whole island. And just about two miles away; in full view of every single house on the island is the nation of Russia. Specifically, it is the Russian Island of Big Diomede which sits about 25 miles from the Russian Siberian mainland (which you can also see from the American island.)

Program Note: Governor Sarah Palin said you can actually see Russia from an island in Alaska. Our Gary Tuchman went to find this island… Watch his full report tonight on AC360.

When talking about what she says is her foreign policy experience, Sarah Palin told ABC news “…you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska.”
That quote made us want to go to that island.
So we did.

Most everybody on Little Diomede had relatives who lived on Big Diomede.

There you go again! Confusing the issue with facts!😃
Funny thing is, I’ve never seen anybody take SNL seriously when they mock Obama, Pelosi, or Biden.

But when it comes to Sarah Palin, SNL is factual.

Yes, because Cape Cod is a valid comparison.

Let me put it a different way, then. Isn’t the majority of the country’s economic, creative and intellectual talent concentrated in the northeast? Aren’t we wealthier, healthier and better educated than the rest of the country? If that’s so (and I’m pretty sure it is), it’s pretty laughable that you think liberal policies have destroyed the northeast and your part of the country is somehow superior because of its secessionist political inclinations. Reality is totally at odds with your analysis.

Yankee colonialism.

By whose standards? This is all relative. Do you want to compare DFW to Newark? Heck, let’s compare Texas to NJ. Better yet, let’s compare Texas to the northeast. Keep in mind also, that you guys have had a few years head start. Might want to take a look at the economy of Texas before you respond.(Due to their conservative nature, they are not allowed to run a state deficit.)

This is up there with one of the most annoyingly egotistical posts I’ve ever read.

I believe this is from 2007:
City, State, % of People Below the Poverty Level (pop. 250,000+)
Detroit , MI 32.5%
Buffalo , NY 29.9%
Cincinnati , OH 27.8%
Cleveland , OH 27.0%
Miami , FL 26.9%
St. Louis , MO 26.8%
El Paso , TX 26.4%
Milwaukee , WI 26.2%
Philadelphia , PA 25.1%
Newark , NJ 24.2%
Northeast 7 Us 1.

Take a trip to Spanish Harlem, South Ozone Park or Bedford Stuyvesant then come back and tell us how great you all have it.

Any other questions?

This is the typical NE, specifically Mass, attitude. And why I hated living there.

Besides telling me I had an accent (I don’t), the next most frequent comment was “I didn’t know they had fall color in MO.”

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Typical eastern establishment thinking. You have no idea how the rest of the country lives.

The left always mocks any woman or minority that wanders off the liberal plantation. Clarence Thomas is another case to point.
estesbob, I wasn’t aware that you considered SNL the left. Its just a entertainment comedy show. If not anything else, at least people find Palin entertaining. 😃

Name me a mainstream comedy outfit that isn’t left wing?
