I agree with you that it was unfortunate gaffe and it highlighted Palin’s lack of foreign policy experience. Just as it was unfortunate that she quit the governorship. But like I told CMatt25, events and Palin’s own history have shown that she is a “quick learner,” and that she has the ability to “change.” Hopefully she will be able to acquire experinece and status by 2012. Seeing what happened to the Tea Party since she came on board, she is certainly on her way. What did Sarah Palin really say about Russia? Can she see Russia from her house?
The line “I can see Russia from my house” was uttered by Tina Fey playing Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live (SNL). It’s such a good line because it’s close to Palin’s actual words and thoughts. She could well have uttered those very words.
Here is what she said to ABC’s Charles Gibson – we give you Gibson’s question and Palin’s answer (fact check the source: ABC)
GIBSON: What insight into Russian actions, particularly in the last couple of weeks, does the proximity of the state give you?
PALIN: They’re our next door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska.

I can see my neighbor’s front yd across the street from me as I look out of my window right now while typing on the keyboard. Doesn’t mean I have any insight though on my neighbor’s actions today, let alone particularly in the last couple of wks. Nor makes me qualified to be VP let alone Pres.
Once again, I would not vote for Palin today, but if things change and she is able to mature as a possible stateswoman I would. I’ll probably end up doing it, to be honest. I’m confident the American People are willing and able to give her a chance, despite her past “image problems.”
I WOULD say though----
That if you are going to accuse (rightfully) Palin of having no policy experience during the elections, you could say the same thing about Barry Obama.
Barry had even LESS experience on the political level than Palin did, yet the issue was largely glossed over by the media during the campaign. He had not even finished his inaugural Senate term , for Pete’s sake. Maybe the nedia did mention this at the beginning, but once Barry emerged as the Savior of the Nation from the legacy and excesses of Evil Old Bush, the media dropped it altogether.
He also did his own gaffes----remember Jeremiah Wright?
Remember the remark about Abortion----“It’s above my pay scale?”
To be honest, I actually felt sorry for Hillary during the campaign. I wouldn’t vote for her, but I could not help but be shocked at the level of bitterness generated against her by the Obama campaign. They all but accused her of being a Racist Privileged White Female. All because of remarks by her HUSBAND.
I remember thinking at the time------“Hillary may be a B----, but at least she knows what the heck she is doing, unlike No-Experience Barry here.” Unfortunately, the electorate disagreed with me. Geratest bamboozle of all time.
