Tea party wins in northeastern primaries could bode well for Democrats

What does the policy of government have to do with it’s size first of all?

Second of all, government has been passing laws beyond it’s enumerated powers for a long time now. It’s not really the tea party calling for smaller government legislation, but smaller government spending.

Now, if you want to discuss small government legislation fine, lets do it, either way you are wrong. But this has nothing at all to do with the tea party. And it looks as though the moderator has informed us of keeping on topic, so let’s try to do that and discuss this where appropriate.

When many Tea Party supporters and candidates including those in the NE advocate big brother government on issues other than spending then it has to do with them.

But I’m fine if such folks want to say they favor smaller spending instead of simply going around and saying they favor smaller govt when that simply is not the case. My point is only there’s a huge difference between saying you are for smaller govt when you really are only for smaller spending. That’s all. God bless ya’ll and peace.

You know what is interesting, is that I don’t think murder (in general, there are exceptions, such as killing a federal official) is a federal crime. I don’t know any conservative of tea party person that wishes to make it so. The point is similar with abortion. I don’t know any conservative or tea party member that wishes to make abortion a federal crime. In fact, they would like that decision to be returned to the states. So Maddow’s example is a poor one, since nobody is suggesting a BIG BIG federal enforcement.

So yeah, Tea Party supporters and candidates are in favor of smaller government, both for spending and regulation. They want the federal government to limit itself to its enumerated powers. They want the whole size of government to shrink.

Now, spending is the biggest example of this. For cutting spending will necessarily cause a decrease in other areas of the federal government.
But I’m fine if such folks want to say they favor smaller spending instead of simply going around and saying they favor smaller govt when that simply is not the case.
But spending and the size of government institutions are inseparably intertwined. Without spending, those government agencies cannot exist. The goal is to shrink both the size of government spending AND government agencies.
My point is only there’s a huge difference between saying you are for smaller govt when you really are only for smaller spending.
Not really. See above. Smaller spending necessarily leads to smaller government.

The line “I can see Russia from my house” was uttered by Tina Fey playing Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live (SNL). It’s such a good line because it’s close to Palin’s actual words and thoughts. She could well have uttered those very words.
And what could someone playing Matt25 say about abortion?

“I totally support killing babies.”

He could have very well uttered those words.😉

It’s worth the risk. Either we get a truly conservative congress this time, or we over-reach and the Democrats continue to drive the country over a cliff.

Then we’ll get it next time.
.good for you…notice how the establishment clones can call us any names they want and get away with it…we ,thus are pushed into a corner of silent dissent! so called 'hate’crimes are making even our thoughts suspect to big brother and so we have this tea party movement…a movement to the right, against an all powerful all knowing centralized government.as in nazi germany ,fascist italy and communist russia…all the same,a bunch of wealthy elitists who know what is best for us and we had better obey. Notice how they never mention the real reason for our depression…its trade boys and girls.we are flooded with slave labor goods from the likes of china and thus those products, many of which have proven dangerous to our health, sell and our made in America products stay gathering dust on the shelves! Its all about money ,thats why Jesus declared the bit about the camel and the eye of a needle and and rich man…the whole concept of the tea business has to do with the only tea allowed to be sold in the colonies,it was a monopoly and thus no choice, and that is what is happening now.try and find a made in america products…tick tick tick…

I don’t think anyone knows what so-called Tea Party supporters want, because they aren’t a party. The candidates themselves back away from the “enumerated powers” sham fairly quickly (Sharron Angle backed away from her comments on social security, as Rand Paul did on the Civil Rights Act). Although many Tea Party supporters are anti-abortion, the so-called Contract From America has no mention of abortion, and abortion seems seldom to be a central focus of protests.

There isn’t any “Tea Party.” Every so-called “Tea Party” candidate runs as a Republican. At best, the Tea Party is just an outward expression of the most right wing members of the party expressing a distaste for moderation. To claim that the Tea Party is hypocritical, as Maddow seems to do, is to credit it with enough coherence to engage in contradiction.

They run as Republicans because there is simply no place in the modern Democrat party for anyone who wishes to run on a limited government, no deficit-spending, enumerated powers, pro-life platform. As for Rachel Maddow, I cannot watch her or anyone on DNC-NBC. I generally find them all to be slobbering, pro-huge government, Progressive buffoons. In fact, I can’t think of a news agency who isn’t in the big government camp. I used to believe it was Fox News, but I have reason to doubt even them (although I do think that Andrew Napolitano and John Stossel are worth watching). I get my political analysis from dedicated libertarian sources, such as the CATO Institute and the Mises Institute.

Please, tell me where the tea party has advocated for anything other than a reduction of spending/taxes from the government? Which would have very little if any impact on abortion. It might actually mean that planned parenthood would have to pay for some of those abortion pills themselves and stop price gouging the nearly empty cookie jar.
But I’m fine if such folks want to say they favor smaller spending instead of simply going around and saying they favor smaller govt when that simply is not the case. I never heard them say anything outside of, reducing spending and taxes. Individually a tea partier can still be pro choice and advocate for those things. Not all legislation creates another government agency.

That being said, I must revert to my original post when you brought Mr. Maddow into the discussion.

I’m always somewhat amazed when people equate supporting the killing of the unborn as a moderate position.

I’m also somewhat amazed at the mass hysteria the tea party has caused to those on the left.

Perhaps your amazement results from not understanding what others are saying.
I’m also somewhat amazed at the mass hysteria the tea party has caused to those on the left.
I missed that, but not being on the left, however, I’m not privy to such information.

Yes, killing unborn babies is mainstream. Its totally hip dude. 🤷 I like Father Corapi’s analysis on the matter. Positive law that violates natual law isn’t law at all, but rather licensed immorality and has no place in the Christian moral ethic, period. People who follow such laws thinking that they are licit should be reminded of the German prison guards who were hung for what they were complicit in at Auschwitz. Their defense, “We were only following orders”. The German high command made exterminating “undesirables” legal. But in the grander scheme, those laws were not legitimate. Mass compliance with illicit behavior doesn’t make it acceptable, even if the positive law (legal statutes, codes, and regulations) make it legal. Now, I use the Catholic Church’s definition of licit, not the secular legal definition.

Isn’t it funny. :coffeeread:

I’m getting pretty good now at noticing the spin. Its so obvious. And always worth a good laugh.

This morning they were talking about the other guy that the Tea Party voted in. They said, plainly, matter of factly, that he, 'Wants to draft legislation to IMPRISON welfare recipients in old jails.

OMG imprison them!! They’re going to go out into the streets, with those loud speakers and round up all the welfare recipients like some kinda german flick and put them in concentration camps… or something… LMAO…great way to scare a lot of people actually.

No. In reality he wants to TRANSFORM them. They are unused, big buildings- just sitting there. A renovated one really isnt too much different than a project right??? You have all these people that are homeless or barely making it by- maybe it’d be rent free I dont know. But he’s certainly not saying IMPRISON them and take away their rights. Really its a sort of pull - your - head - out - your - %$# plan that if you think about, sort of makes sense.

Heck, if I was homeless- I would have NO PROBLEM staying in a dormitory. And if its unused and going to waste anyways?
  1. It’ll create jobs for the renovation
  2. It’ll house people that need homes
  3. Those people will have jobs while there that will contribute to economy
  4. They will have training in that job for when they leave
I’m going off too much on this- just started the morning and got to make the rounds on my subscribed threads, but yes, Dear- totally hilarious watching the Left come up with ways to demonize threats.

Ooooh that Father Corapi is one cold piece of work!!! LOVE IT!

This will be my facebook status for the day now, thank you 😃

As a confirmed member of the left, I am more amazed at the mass hysteria of rightwingers at the prospect of having the President re-elected.

I think that the GOP, not the left so much, is not much enamored of people who are nothing more than “aginners” and who think that they have any chance of reducing the size of the government get into any power. People who come to Washington with the intention of smashing everything in sight are not what this country needs. IMHO.

Ya, I’ve been listening to his pieces on the “Christian soldier engaging in spiritual warfare” this week. Fr. Corapi is awesome. He is an absolutist, which I love. I cannot stomach compromisers anymore, which is why I am so digging the Tea Party. The people who don’t get the Tea Party probably never will. They have so bought into the Progressive “collectivist” mindset that when they hear of a group that is hell-bent on the re-establishment of individualism, it sets their hair on fire. I love the motto too, “I AM THE TEA PARTY”.

It is exactly what this country needs.

Actually, TNC, THANK YOU for reminding me. I hadn’t thought about the controversy for a while and I guess Dartmouth somehow into my mind. It indeed was Columbia. And it was Columbia that Wayne Allen Root graduated from. Once again, thank you.

However----

The point is, if you Google “Did Obama go to Columbia?” you will find there is INDEED a controversy reagrding anybody remembering him or any records surfacing of him having attended and graduated from there in 1983.

For example, American Grand Jury has repeatedly tried to obtain Barry’s graduation diploma from Columbia and they refuse to produce it. They also will not say whether Obama graduated under the name Barry Soetoro or Barack Obama.

There is also no record of him attending any formal functions or classes there under the Major of Political Science. No homecomings, no announcements of him, no mention of him in the GRADUATING CLASS ROSTER. Nothing. And it was Columbia that Root was talking about when he said he could not remember Obama attending there or graduating there in 1983.
Even wikipedia say him and Obama graduated in the same year from Columbia with the same degree. How come Root cannot remember him?
NOBODY I have researched has any recollection of the man there at Columbia. Why???

Oh well. like you said, it’s probably nonsense. Guess I’ll “drop” it then…😃

One thing—it is not an Internet “Myth.” Not by a long shot. 👍
Again, I thought we had agreed to move beyond this birther nonsense on this forum. Regardless, the fact that some website says it doesn’t make it true. Do you really think Obama could have faked graduating from an Ivy League School and McCain’s team would just let that slide? Or Hillary’s?

I googled Obama and Columbia and got several hits to articles discussing people that he went to school with, an article he published in a Columbia paper or journal while he was there, etc. It’s a silly and unfounded allegation.

What goes up, must come down Rich. If Obama can outspend every single president combined in the history of this country in less than 2 years then surely it is possible to put the car in reverse and reduce that spending. I don’t think they need to go to Washington and smash everything in sight, I think they need to go there and burn it all down and like after good ol pasture fire watch it regrow greener and healthier than it was before.

Washington DC is a cancer on our country.

Father Corapi is the MAN. He’s been “around the block” a few times and taken down a few names.

The CHURCH itself is Absolutist; that is why I am privileged to be part of it.

We’re the Church of the TRUTH; not what is “convenient,” or “up to date.”👍
