are Mormons pre mill? i never really studied up on that part of their theology. should be interesting. but in fairness to the pre-mill crowd, most of them are not militant. look at the Mennonites for example. they are pacifist… i think you can find this fringe element in any congregation.

Peace
Benedict,
Thanks for the “vote of confidence.”
Just to let you know a little more about being “pre-Millennial”, which I would say that LDS quite definitely are, then that means we fully expect that the day will come when “swords shall” (be beaten into) “plowshares, and spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more” (Isaiah 2:4) and “earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea” (Isaiah 11:9) and “all thy children shall be taught of the Lord, and great shall be the peace of thy children”. (Isaiah 54:13)
As the Book of Mormon explains,
Mormon 4:5 But, behold, the judgments of God will overtake the wicked; and it is by the wicked that the wicked are punished; for it is the wicked that stir up the hearts of the children of men unto bloodshed.
1 Ne. 14: 14
14 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, beheld the power of the Lamb of God, that it descended upon the saints of the church of the Lamb, and upon the covenant people of the Lord, who were scattered upon all the face of the earth; and they were armed with righteousness and with the power of God in great glory.
To be “armed with righteousness” means to be “armed with the authority of the priesthood”, prepared with the peace of covenant-making and covenant-keeping knowing that the “battle is the Lord’s”, and:
Doctrine and Covenants 27:15 Wherefore, lift up your hearts and rejoice, and gird up your loins, and take upon you my whole armor, that ye may be able to withstand the evil day, having done all, that ye may be able to stand.
16 Stand, therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, having on the breastplate of righteousness, and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace, which I have sent mine angels to commit unto you;
17 Taking the shield of faith wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked;
18 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of my Spirit, which I will pour out upon you, and my word which I reveal unto you, and be agreed as touching all things whatsoever ye ask of me, and be faithful until I come, and ye shall be caught up, that where I am ye shall be also.
Also, just to make it very plain what the “sword of my Spirit” is,
Ephesians 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance…
If there is fighting among the “wicked” nations of the earth and some of those nations turn on each other, then that is a sign of the times but while that day seems to be upon the world, the gospel is to go forth among all nations and those who in their hearts want to be gathered to the spiritual Zion and have a “covert from storm” and “not learn war anymore” will be so gathered. It is the effect of gaining the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ, who heralds peace always.
