Hislittlelady:

Did you remember, depsite your hurt, to rejoice? Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you falsely because of me. Be glad and rejoice, for your reward is very great in heaven. For so they persecuted the prophets that were before you." (Matthew 5:11-12)
LOL. I have to chuckle here and you are correct. At the moment I didn’t remember this, but later on I did and fully thanked Jesus for the persecution. I will trust in Him as I pick up my cross and follow. Thank you for your wonderful reminder.
Hislittlelady, I too am so sorry that this happened to you. Reading your story made me feel sad inside. You know as strange as it might sound, I never really knew how much people don’t like Catholics up until a few months ago. To this day, I still don’t know why. I’ve heard things such as people thinking that Catholicism is a cult, and that we are not true Christians, etc, and it baffles me. A cult?? Not Christians?? I mean, I just can’t figure out why people say such things.
This reminds me of a time when I was at work, and I was wearing a Sacred Heart of Jesus medal. A guy that I was assisting asked me if I was Catholic, and I told him yes. Then he said, “Hmmm.” In my mind, I couldn’t help but wonder why he responded like that.
I know what you’re saying. I know a lot of very fine Protestant people and we are friends, but honestly I always get the feel that they really have a deep rooted hatred for Catholics, even though they don’t say it out loud, and I’ve noticed they seem to have some sort of animosity toward Mary, our Mother. I’ve mentioned to them that if they choose not to pray to her, so be it, but at least honor her as the Mother of Jesus and they will not. They almost act as though they hate her. Enough said. I don’t want to start any debates here on the forum so I’ll keep silent on this.
I will pray for your grandchildren that Jesus stays with them and that they will understand His Love.

in Christ
Steph
:hug1:

Thank you so much Steph. That is also one of my granddaughter’s name. She’s Stepahnie but we call her Steph. Please keep my two little ones in your prayers because I have silently dedicated them both to the Lord and I pray that He will speak to their hearts to return to the true Faith of our Fathers, the One Holy Catholic Apostolic church. I just don’t understand the hatred toward us. It’s mind baffling really. We have such a wonderful holy church, started by the apostles themselves, and they have documentations as to the teachings of what Jesus said, so I often wonder, what is the problem that they hate us so. No debates please, at least not with me. Thankyou one and all.
That woman had the audacity to go on TV and say all those awful things without thinking of how her remarks would hurt all those girls who were black, asians and biracial and keep on repeating how she wanted a nice cathoic girl just like her!

Sad, very sad if a so called catholic talks like that!
This just goes to show that there are bad Catholics, bad Protestants and bad everything. As Catholics we are supposed to let the light of Christ shine through us and this woman did the total opposite. There is no room for bigotry or hate in any Christian religion, especially not for us Catholics.
i have been through these attacks many times. it is ok with me.
if we could just get them to think about this. what is the difference between those who were taught by Christ Himself and those who picked up the Bible many many years later? who are the True followers of Christ? those who were ordained by Christ Himself or those who picked up the Bible many many years after
I totally agree with you here. I’m sure the bible has everything we need, but there is so much more and so many refuse to ackowledge that. I praise God always that He has given me a Catholic heart and I pray for all my separated brothers and sisters even so. God loves us all no matter what.
Did you speak to your SIL and his wife about this? Your Catholic grandchildren are being taught these things, this is tragic.
Yikes! I pleaded with him in the beginning but his mind was set. There is nothing I can do to change this without losing my rights to see my grandchildren. There are no grandparent rights in the state I live in. So yes, I did try very heartily but lost my battle for now.
Seriously, those people are ignorant, small minded, heartless, brainless, and uneducated. We should pity them and pray for them. We should also be very worried about the society that allows this type of person to develop and prosper. They should have long ago been taught manners, decorum, and facts. both theological and historical.
And I say to this “Lord Have Mercy on Them”. Amen.

Thank you all my friends for your wonderful wisdom and advice but most of all please pray with all your hearts that my grandchildren will ultimately turn to the Catholic faith which is what I fully believe in. Now this is not to say that other Christians are not saved. That’s not my point at all. But, fact is, I am a Catholic and of course I’m going to promote Catholic doctrine, so forgive me if I’ve stepped on anyone’s toes or hurt anyone’s feeling. I ask pardon and it wasn’t meant to hurt anyone. I still say we are all brothers in Christ.

Blessings to all

What a:imsorry: horrible, horrible thing to have happen!! Those women need to be ashamed of themselves…unfortunately, that kind of :banghead: ignorant talk & behaviour seems to come natural to some  people.
From the Friendly Neighborhood Methodist,:console: , and :gopray2: for you & your family. (Good thing I wasn’t with you…I might have :slapfight: the pair of them).
Things like this make me feel shame for all humanity, including myself. I am so, so sorry this happened to you. And I’m not even a theist.

Whence compassion, and humane love? We are all more than capable of it, it hurts no one and helps all, including the one that practices it. Why, oh why? Even an a non believer, sometimes even I am moved to think ‘How long, how long must we suffer?’
Ah, Nepenthe…you get :hug1: too!! Never leave us, you are a:yup: joy to know.

Awww our neighborhood Methodist friend, bless your heart. You surely are a sweetheart and an angel with your kind words. I so appreciate what you say on behalf of your fellow Christians.

I’ve run across plenty of Catholics also that are so rooted in our faith that there is no room for understanding, no room for anyone but us. I must speak the truth here but sorry to say that we are not God and we cannot see through God’s eyes. Yes, we believe in the one Holy Apostolic Church, which for me is the fullness of truth, but others must realize that it does not come to everyone’s understanding, so I’ve seen Catholics act like these people too in reverse.

We must watch our tongues that no wickedness is spoken against others but in all things, through our prayers, we must pray for fellow Christians, even if secretly we think they are incorrect. I would never dream of telling my non-Catholic friends that they are wrong. How hurt they would be! But, they indulge me and I do point out several factors in their beliefs that are not the teachings of the early church and they cannot disagree with me, but still hold to their own beliefs and generally we have good laughs over me preaching at them, and it turns into fun instead of arguing. We know each other for a very long time, so there are never hard feelings.

Debates and sharing are good things as long as everyone involved is intelligent enough to make room for opinions of others and not take things so personally and this is what starts the arguments. I have no wish to argue with other Christian people. I only like to share views. If I give my view as my total and full belief in Christ, I’m not knocking you down, I’m only telling what I believe. We are told to spread the gospel and this is what we’re doing according to our true belief. If you hammer someone over the head with it, you will only have the opposite effect on them and they will run the other way.

I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your compassion and understanding. So let’s hang out.

Blessings
Ah, Nepenthe…you get too!! Never leave us, you are a joy to know.
Nepenthe, My friend, may Jesus draw you near through all the nice friends you’ve made here and through their witness for Jesus.
