I note the…“Abortion only for rape, incest, or maternal health. (Jun 2002)”. Why these exceptions?

Return of the conservative boogeyman

Most people outside Texas know very little about Perry, but given his standing as a kind of amalgam of George W. Bush and Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee, he may soon occupy an unprecedented position in the imagination of liberals and the Left—perhaps the most frightening specter of anti-liberalism since Ronald Reagan precisely because he is electable. The conservative boogeyman is back.

His position is against every tenet of the Catholic church. I would expect a devout Catholic who believes in what Jesus said to avoid Perry the way he or she would avoid Dracula or the Ebola virus. Not everyone who objects to abortion is on the side of God.

Recently, LifeNews.com profiled Perry in an article featuring comments from two statewide pro-life groups, Texas Alliance for Life and Texas Right to Life, verifying Perry’s pro-life credentials and discussing the lengthy list of pro-life actions he’s taken as governor. Representatives of both groups expressed confidence in Perry advocating a pro-life agenda should he decide to run for president and be nominated by Republicans to take on pro-abortion President Barack Obama.

Obama won by running against G.W. Bush. Not McCain. That won´t work another time around. When he says we don´t need another Texan like we had last time; then the Republicans can say Perry is not Bush, he´s Perry. People will believe this.

His credentials look impressive. Opponents will have to come up with something to draw attention away from his credentials, and make him look silly. I wonder if he has “scary eyes”.

So, in a choice between Obama and Perry, you would pick Obama and his WH economic Wrecking Crew?

Given a choice between “not-perfect” and “truly-awful-the-worst”, you would pick “the worst”?

Makes no sense.

Unless of course you vote a straight vegetarian ticket, which would allow Obama to slide in to victory.

What Obama could do to enhance his chances is to hire Bill Clinton’s hair dresser … to grey him up a bit.

Or maybe just shave his head to make himself look more fearful.

Perry, the longest-serving governor in the country who has accounted for 37 percent of all jobs created since the recession, "
well that is a stretch
and would be news to our army of unemployed down here
How’s Texas doing in education?
well it has greatly improved my chances of getting good CCD teachers because many public school teachers have either been laid off or fired, or hours cut back so they are now free to help in the parish. ditto 14% if our local utpa employess

I have a lot of good things to say about Perry

He is not Trump.
He signed the pro-life initiative into law.
He is not McCain.
He keeps the legislature from meeting too often and so lessens the damage they can do.

If, what she says is true, then I can understand the rationale she presents irrespective of political party and it would make complete sense.

Obama won because the RNC voted against Palin.

What she is saying is that conservative ideals are completely at odds with Catholic teaching. Her comments are naught but the braying of a opposing political ideologue.

The 11th hour economic crisis had all too much to do with making the equation of Cain=Bush Beans (refried) just too believable. The fact that Cain looked too old and Palin looked too dizzy (Katie Couric interview), and Obama looked so fresh & hopeful & rhetorically reasonable… it was all over. Style won over substance. The tide will change this time around.

Perry loves Jesus Christ. He believes in the Trinity and believes highly in prayer. I know he isn’t Catholic but Catholic presidents will be very few in the future if any. His love for Jesus is acceptable to me. All I want to see right now is this nation to get back on track. Obama is pulling this nation far left and it isn’t working. Carter did the same and put this nation in further turmoil. Socialism isn’t working,Perry will get us back to the founding fathers gov’t view.

I only wonder about his foreign policy views now.

Even though he’s flipped a little over gay marriage and immigration, I don’t think he’d do anything against the moral issues and risk losing support of the party. I do disagree with his view of the death penalty, but still as I weigh everything he seems a good second choice for me.

If the houses go back to democrat control, he’ll have as much trouble as Obama is having with republicans in control. It’s sad that we have a two party system where one side blames the other and nothing gets done; the whole time making decisions that affect the country based on partisan politics and to make the other side look bad.

Edited to add: I’m not excited about see Hagee preaching at national events, or the whitehouse, either.
