We will see how this pans out…long way to go in the campaign. For now, I think I’ll go Bachman…actually if Ron Paul had a chance of getting anywhere, I might even go with him.

On the supposed Nafta superhighway, Perry called it “an interesting myth that has been out there a long time.” He joked, “There is a corridor from Mexico to Canada. It’s called I-35. It’s been there a long time.”

Perry went on to defend his failed bid to build a trans-Texas highway and his support for toll roads, saying the alternatives would be to raise taxes, ask Washington for money or wait for “the asphalt fairy” to get needed roads built.

All those minimum wage jobs must not be helping folks find affordable health insurance. I hear TX ranks is it, first in uninsured?

:hmmm: Created a bunch of minimum wage jobs. Ranks near the top in the uninsured and near the bottom in education among all the states. I’ll pass. Not someone I want leading the USA into the future. That’s for certain.

By your own quotes, 40 percent were minimum wage jobs. That means 60 percent
were not. I’ll take that.
As for education, it’s a huge problem here (and everywhere) and much blame falls on
the teacher’s union. We also have a huge percentage of non-english speakers who
do bring the scores down. The english as a second language programs have failed
miserably, but money is still being poured into them and to other failed experiments.

Minimum wage job is better than no job. There isn’t much Perry can do about the education in Texas. The water’s there, the horses aren’t drinking. Many folks in Texas could care less what any politician, liberal or not, thinks about the way they are raised. It’s more of a parenting problem, and it isn’t going away either.

Dunno why I’m bothering, the liberal solution for all those dumb hicks would be to build a 5,000 sq. ft. Planned Parenthood right in the middle of a town with a population of 500. Then hire a bunch of teachers to teach the ones that aren’t killed off about the history of homosexuals and hand out condoms.

Sure as long as folks have access to and can afford for instance things like affordable care when they and their family members are sick, and shelter, food, clothing for them and their spouses and children. Those things basic to family values. Not to mention perhaps a little leftover would be nice for them. And also an assurance their children will have access to a quality education. Still though the future of America is in deeper trouble than I imagine if we are going to depend on nearly half of the new jobs to be minimum wage and expect that path to bring us back to economic greatness following the slide which began under our last President from Texas.

I don’t know why you’re bothering either. You’re dealing with people who aren’t interested in anything other than big government, statist solutions to our nations problems. To them believing in socialism is the 11th commandment.

Most minimum wage jobs employ either students who don’t support families, or otherwise unemployable people. The otherwise unemployable generally do not have a high school diploma or a GED, are functionally illiterate, no work history, or low IQ.

These are are just some of the reasons.

Apparently there is more dignity to be had in collecting 99 weeks of unemployment benefits than actually going out an earning your keep.

Simple. “Conservatives” seem almost mindlessly convinced that all they need to do is elect Romney or Perry and when Ginsberg retires (speculatively), a “strict constructionist” justice will be appointed, get through the Senate, and overturn Roe.

It hasn’t happened in almost 40 years. It ain’t gonna happen. Its the conservative pipe dream that is used to sell the lie that they shouldn’t “waste their vote” on a third party candidate.

I was trying to point out that lack of benefits and minimum wages are not as oppressive as some people may think.

Raising the cost of employment always lowers number of people employed.

Another thing, people like to equate minimum wage with living wage. Then they marginalize minimum wage jobs.
 
Pollster Scott Rasmussen is about to release the first national post-straw poll numbers. The results:

Perry 29, Romney 18, Bachmann 13, Paul 9.

It looks like Rick got out more of a bang out of Iowa and the Battle of Waterloo than Michele did.

Perry is the shiny new toy for the GOP to oggle at. He will loose some of his luster as his life and politics are dug through.
