I wouldn’t bet against him. TBH, I think we’ve met the next POTUS.
Ummmm, ya, you think the liberal media war machine is going to passively sit around while ANOTHER “conservative” Texas governor runs for office? I can almost hear the Bush comparisons now. I’ll tell you this, if Perry is selected as the nominee, the left is going to get ugly…worse than anything we have ever seen.

It wouldn’t matter who the nominee is. The left has NOTHING to run on… so they will go as ugly as we will ever see.

Let 'em. 🙂

I fear that as well. Even worse if Obama loses.

Looking at the math behind TX jobs claims and the low paying jobs answer:

Let’s look at the data. Here’s a link: Occupational Employment and Wage Estimates
Texas median hourly wage is $15.14… almost exactly in the middle of the pack (28th out of 51 regions). Given that they’ve seen exceptional job growth (and these other states have not) this does not seem exceptionally low.

But the implication here is that the new jobs in Texas, the jobs that Texas seems to stand alone in creating at such a remarkable pace, are low paying jobs and don’t really count.

If this were true, all these new low-paying jobs should be dragging down the wages data, right? But if we look at the wages data since the beginning of the recession (click to enlarge, states are listed alphabetically)

politicalmathblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/WagesIncrease.png

And it turns out that the opposite is true. Since the recession started hourly wages in Texas have increased at a 6th fastest pace in the nation.

As a side note, the only blue state that has faster growing wages is Hawaii. Just thought I’d get that jab in since so many people have been making snarky “Yeah, I could get a job in Texas is I wanted to flip burgers!” comments at me on Twitter.

Wow. I am a 110% supporter of Perry now.

Good grief Texas… way to go.

Most minimum wage jobs employ either students who don’t support families, or otherwise unemployable people. The otherwise unemployable generally do not have a high school diploma or a GED, are functionally illiterate, no work history, or low IQ.

These are are just some of the reasons.
 You and I must be living in 2 different countries since the current economic realities began to harvest under the previous Administraton. There are all sorts of folks with diplomas, degrees, and families, who are not employed or underemployed.

I fear that as well. Even worse if Obama loses.
You fear what exactly? We’re discussing an election campaign here. How do things get ugly after a campaign is done?

Please cite chapter and verse. I would advise you to research Hugh Addonizio and how things got ugly when he lost; the sole example of post-election ugliness I could find.

Sounded like he was threatening Bernanke if Bernanke came to Texas. .
What he said can be interpreted in many, many ways. Those who are prone not to like him have interpreted as you did. IMHO it will give him more credence with the base right now and will be fogotten in 6 months.

A little more on this topic:

UPDATE: Perry spokesman Mark Miner responds: “The Governor was expressing his frustration with the current economic situation and the out of control spending that persists in Washington. Most Americans would agree that printing and spending more money is not the answer to the economic issues facing the country.”

ABC News has more from the road with Perry on this topic, where it’s clear that neither he nor his aides are walking back the comment.

As I said, this is a political plus for Perry. The more the Liberal commentators yell about it, the better it will be for him. They are playing into his hands. He knows the base.

Twelve hours removed from a controversy about his suggestion that Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke was engaging in “treasonous” behavior Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s presidential campaign didn’t try to walk back the remark. In fact, they doubled down on it.

“I am passionate about the issue but I stand by what I said,” Perry told reporters in Iowa today.

Although Perry’s campaign is only a few days old, the episode provides a telling insight into the Texas governor: he is brash, bold and unapologetic about being so.
And that just might make him a perfect fit for the current Republican primary electorate who is mad as hell and not going to take it anymore.

I was responding to your post about 40% of the job growth in Texas was attributable to minimum wage jobs.

He said “We would treat him pretty ugly.” Now that’s really a scary thing to say. 😉

Look at the hate directed at GWB. It truly was over the top.

Perry loves Jesus Christ. He believes in the Trinity and believes highly in prayer. I know he isn’t Catholic but Catholic presidents will be very few in the future if any. His love for Jesus is acceptable to me. All I want to see right now is this nation to get back on track. Obama is pulling this nation far left and it isn’t working. Carter did the same and put this nation in further turmoil. Socialism isn’t working,Perry will get us back to the founding fathers gov’t view.
I see sooooo many shades of George W. Bush in Perry. Bush took the evangelical vote because of a liberal that everyone was fed up with and it looks like Perry could be the GOP frontrunner by doing the same.

There is no NAFTA Superhighway Project that Perry was or is fighting for. My understanding is that he was interested in improving highways inside of Texas in a project called the Trans-Texas Corridor. It wasn’t a highway to Canada.
Basically the same project under a different name. Anything unpopular with the American public just gets re-named – haven’t you noticed?

You need to google Security & Prosperity Partnership under Bush. If it wasn’t a proposed highway to Canada, why did all those Tri-Lateral meetings occur between Bush, Harper (& Martin) and Fox?
