Treason is a very serious crime.
so is terrorism.
There have only been 30 convictions for treason in our nation’s history.
Yes and terrorism is on a much larger scale, a global attack on innocent people.
If Bernenke has committed treason, his accusers better be prepared to prove it. If they bring him to trial and do so, I won’t complain, but if he hasn’t committed treason, then anything Perry says will be flatulence as far as I’m concerned.
Rich, he said “almost.” If you hear the clip, he stumbles on the word treacherous-treasonous.

“It’s almost treachero-treasonous.” The written transcript can’t convey that.

He doesn’t have a teleprompter in front of him.

If they’re going to jump on him for that, they should be prepared for counterattacks. I hope this campaign sticks to people’s records and not flea circumcision.

In any case it’s making a mountain out of molehill. Can’t they find something better to nail him with?

It’s so hypocritical.

So, the Gardasil issue? That’s it? I was thinking she might have something new I hadn’t already read about.
I really don’t think the Gardasil issue is going to be a deal breaker for anyone. Perry already came out and said he made a mistake, that he let his passion to fight cancer get the better of his judgement in the right way to proceed, that it should have been an opt-in rather than an opt-out. And all he has to do is point out that recognizing and correcting his mistakes just makes him one ahead of Obama.

Rich, it’s not the evidence that is of concern; it is the seriousness of the accusation.

Rich, you know how that all started, right?

right?

Rich?

Tell that to the Paul Krugman, the New York Times, and Thomas Roberts. Al Gore accused George Bush of treason. Why is your indignation mysteriously limited to one person?

Not mysteriously. I wasn’t aware of it, and now that I am, I’d call Gore on it for making that utterly vile accusation. I’m not giving anyone a pass on treason.

so is terrorism.
The difference between treason against one’s country and terrorism is vast, as is the difference between their effect on the body politic. It will be enough for me if Perry is not the nominee nor comes nowhere near the tipping point that would make me vote for Obama.

I guess this means Bernanke won’t be nominated for another term as Fed chairman in a Perry administration 😛

I guess that means that he’s going to treat him the way the left treated George Bush for eight years.
He was speaking of Texas. Was that how Bush II was treated in Texas during his term of office?

More on Perry and global warming today:

“I do believe that the issue of global warming has been politicized,” Perry answered. “I think there are a substantial number of scientists who have manipulated data so that they will have dollars rolling into their projects. I think we’re seeing it almost weekly or even daily, scientists who are coming forward and questioning the original idea that man-made global warming is what is causing the climate to change. Yes, our climates change. They’ve been changing ever since the earth was formed.”

Pegging the global cost of implementing “anti-carbon programs” in the billions or trillions of dollars, Perry said, “I don’t think from my perspective that I want America to be engaged in spending that much money on [what is] still a scientific theory that has not been proven, and from my perspective, is more and more being put into question.”

You’re probably right - most won’t be too worried that Merck gave $6,000 in campaign contributions to him or that one of Perry’s former employees wound up working for Merck. but to me, it’s just another red flag to beware of the man.

strongly disagree gilliam with your first post about american exceptionalism. That right there is a sin. Such false pride in this fallen nation surpasses devotion to God the Father. There is not a single freedom found here that can’t be attained in most of western europe. And while I can’t quote anything I wouldn’t doubt that switzerland is the most free country in this world. America has a bloody history of subjugation. Americans slaughtered the indians when they got here, enslaved the africans but forget about the history we all know that. Look at today. While americans are calling their soldiers “heroes” these same men are overseas fighting a war that goes against what Christ taught us. America bloodies its hands with countless innocent lives in the name of “freedom”. Shady intel on a single mid level terrorist in the area, whats the american response? Predator strike. 24 civilians dead. Whoops thats war I guess. America has NO right to pretend its better than everyone else when it continues to perpetuate such horrid bloodshed and malice throughout the world. I was four years in the army as a 13 bravo cannon crewmember (artillery for all you civvies) It is my deep love for Christ that has me abandoning this country to its fate and moving out of country to live a Catholic life.

Yes, it’s a red flag. There were similar grumbings about the TTC. But once the presidential campaign gets rolling $6K is going to sound like pennies compared to the money that will be thrown around. 🤷

(and when you think about it, $6K from a huge corporation isn’t that much of a contribution)

No self respecting Texas politician is going to sell his vote on anything for a measly $6,000

Speaking of consequential issues, Perry needs to double check to see if the bus he bought was made in USA or Canada.

And is Perry’s bus convoy more or less than 40 vehicles?
