Is there ever going to be a point where Catholics stop propagating this falsehood?
at last count the source you all pull the 33,000 number from states about 8-9000. Plus 250 catholic or so and about 900 orthodox if my memory serves me right…so how many do you think there are?? Would you classify Catholics and Assembly of God as one denomination??? Or don’t you believe in organized religion???
how many different sets of beliefs to 200+ catholics have?Clear this up for us - how many different sets of beliefs are held by Protestants and other “bible-only” believers throughout the world? Give us a number.
Excuse me!!! I do read the Bible every day. The Douay-Rheims and the Latin Vulgate. It isn’t just a book. Can you give a legit source and documentation on your theory??? There is only one Catholic denomination. Why don’t you believe in organized religion??? Faith without works is dead works without faith is dead. Have you read the Epistle of James???at last count the source you all pull the 33,000 number from states about 8-9000. Plus 250 catholic or so and about 900 orthodox if my memory serves me right…
So if thats your source then we must say there are 200+ catholic as well.
Furthermore I don’t believe in organized religion, if you want to know what HE said read the book.
There is one (1, O-N-E) Catholic faith. Surely you have been here long enough to know that. Whether or not all Catholics believe everything taught by that one faith is really no more relevant that the fact that all Christians sin. We’re a fallen race, remember?how many different sets of beliefs to 200+ catholics have?
Why were there multiple canons long before the schism?
Didn’t HE say the Church was one body?at last count the source you all pull the 33,000 number from states about 8-9000. Plus 250 catholic or so and about 900 orthodox if my memory serves me right…

the source you guys pick this number names around 8000 and as I mentioned 200+ catholic as well. I personally have never counted…But those who blindly state something as fact should have the info to back it, and then if you choose to accept that info as truth then you must accept everythingwithin that source pertaining to the info cited. There is one (1, O-N-E) Catholic faith. Anyway, why are you evading the question I asked you? This is your thread, you brought up the subject, so I ask again, how many sets of beliefs are held by the world’s Protestants and other “bible-only” believers? A number, please. If you don’t like 33,000, give us a number you do like (and you can defend).
From a friends post a couple years back…There is only one Catholic denomination.
But “jurisdictions” or geographical boundries don’t matter to the real question. The real question is, how many different (and presumably conflicting) sets of beliefs are found among the world’s Protestants and other “bible-only” believers. For the Catholic Church, the number is precisely ONE. What’s the number for non-Catholic believers? Is it ONE or more than ONE?the source you guys pick this number names around 8000 and as I mentioned 200+ catholic as well. Like many falsities, stopping their propagation is easier said than done. I suppose this one will stop being spread at about the same time Protestants stop saying that Catholics worship Mary.![]()
In my opinion, then it begins with you and me.Like many falsities, stopping their propagation is easier said than done. I suppose this one will stop being spread at about the same time Protestants stop saying that Catholics worship Mary.![]()
Thanks J,In my opinion, then it begins with you and me.
The 33,000 is overblown, mainly because of tax purposes. This “Bible-only” church doesn’t want to be associated with one a block away, so they have to file as a separate entity. The same is true among other churches that would other-wise be the same chapter (or faith).
For that reason, I usually offer up 200-500 denominations, simply to avoid the red-herring debate about 33,000 and get to the real point.
Of course, if the 230 Catholic churches is true, its hard to hold the Latin Rite (Romanists or Papists may be a term thrown around by our Christian brothers!) and the 23 rites in communion with The Church responsible for these little shoot-offs that last for 10 years and then fall by the wayside once the “new faith” splits up over whether to serve communion from one cup or a bunch of little cups.
Bottom line, if you use the “200 or so” number, then you can get past that hurdle and deal with the real problem - All Protestant Churches were started by fallible men.
Sure thing. Whenever I come across this figure, I will point them in the right direction. Thanks J,
Now if you’d be so willing to call your brothers on the table and ask them not to propagate such an obvious lie…Then I will do the same when I see protestants doing an equally deceitful misrepresentation.![]()
please provide links and such with your documentation. Quoting this or that without proper documentation makes your claims questionable.According to steve ray and tim staples they have both quoted
World Christian Encyclopedia
As the source of this.
Mind your mouth Martin. We do read the Bible. All 73 books of it and I am pretty sure that I know it at least as well (though I suspect better) than you do.…Furthermore I don’t believe in organized religion, if you want to know what HE said read the book.
