Since all flesh died that was not on board the ark, I can only conclude that Adam and Methuselah the other dudes were stowaways on Noah’s Ark. Perhaps I’m missing a crucial verse…
6 And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.

So according to your theory, Noah was born close to the time Adam was created.

Why should I want to follow a God such as yours whose saving power is so limited?
Does your God lack the power to save those who have never heard of the Son, such as pre-Columbian Americans or unborn children? Is your God’s saving power limited by the speed at which Christian missionaries can travel? Why would I want to follow such a powerless God?
It has nothing to do with how much or how little saving power God has, which by the way is infinite, but it has to do with God who is righteous and true giving man a way of salvation since he chose to believe the lies of the devil instead of the Word of God.

God told Adam that in the day he sinned he would die. The devil told Adam he would not die, but would be like God, be a god. And Adam chose to believe the devil and died.

You can continue to believe the lies of buddism or you can choose to believe God. Don’t be as Adam and choose the lies of the devil. For he seeks to steal, kill and destroy all that is of God. If he can keep you believing his lies until you suffer physical death, then your soul belongs to him forever and you will suffer the same fate he does in the lake of fire and brimstone.

Gee- no wonder so many people are turning atheist! If i was undecided as far as religion or belief goes comments like these would push me toward unbelief. No matter what Fundamentalists believe their narrowness and literalistic view of scripture has created more atheists& agnostics in the last ten years than all the communists in the world!
It is the enemy of God that wants man to believe that he is human and cannot comprehend the truths of God. God is always willing to reveal himself to those who truly seek him. God gives man his Word, man doubts it and dies.

that’s irrelevant. the op was referring to there being outside the atmosphere, not anything about it covering mountains…
It’s entirely relevant. A global flood covering the highest mountains must have covered Mt. Everest, which stands 29,035 feet above sea level. Obviously there is not enough water on earth to have accomplished that, and there is no water in space above the earth.

Aren’t you assuming that Mount Everest was that tall at the time of the flood? How do you know that? Perhaps the mountains were formed as a RESULT of the flood.

I thought the original statement mentioned there being water between the atmosphere and space. I was never talking about a flood.

No, the Himalayas are not the result of the flood. The Himalayas and the Tibetan Plateau have risen very rapidly in geological time, albeit slowly in geological time. In just 50 million years, Mt. Everest and other peaks have risen to more than 9 km in height. The Australasian and Asian landmasses have been colliding for fifty million years, and the Himalayas continue to rise as a result, more than 1 cm a year – a growth rate of 10 km in a million years!

who here still believes in the tooth fairy & that Santa fits his fat behind down every chimney on earth in one night?

Yup - you just proved my point
Isaiah 55:6-9. Job 38-42. Can man really comprehend God?.. To think you can totally understand God and His truths is to put God on par with human.
if everything were self evident why would we need to study His Word?Scripture doesn’t agree. you can’t truly know the full mind of God.

That is not an answer to my question. What I asked was:Does your God lack the power to save those who have never heard of the Son, such as pre-Columbian Americans or unborn children? Is your God’s saving power limited by the speed at which Christian missionaries can travel?
If pre-Columbian Americans can be saved, then hearing of Jesus is not required for salvation. If hearing of Jesus is essential for salvation then God’s salvific power is limited by the speed of travel of Christian missionaries.
God told Adam that in the day he sinned he would die. The devil told Adam he would not die, but would be like God, be a god. And Adam chose to believe the devil and died.
The devil was right, Adam did not die within 24 hours but lived for hundreds of years after.

Shall we have a look at some “lies of Buddhism”?* “Love others as you love yourself” - Bhadramayakaravyakarana sutra 91
  • “And what is right speech? Abstaining from lying, from divisive speech, from abusive speech and from idle chatter.” - Samyutta Nikaya 45.8
  • “A lay follower should not engage in five types of trade. Which five? Trade in weapons, human beings, meat, intoxicants and poison.” - Anguttara Nikaya 5.177
If you are going to criticise Buddhism, then you would do better to have a look at what Buddhism says before telling people to do the opposite. Much of Buddhist morality is as close to Christian morality as makes no real difference. Or are you trying to tell us that Christians should hate other people while they trade in armaments, slaves, meat, alcohol, drugs and poisons? No, I didn’t think so.

Are’nt you assuming the growth rates have been constant over the last 50 million years? 🙂

Floods don’t cause subduction of tectonic plates. In any event, you need to read scriptures:

Genesis 7:19-20
19 Higher and higher above the earth rose the waters, until all the highest mountains everywhere were submerged, 20 the crest rising fifteen cubits higher than the submerged mountains.

Clearly, the scriptures don’t agree with your geological conclusion.

No, there isn’t. If all the glaciers were melted, they might raise sea level several dozen feet. But that’s not in the Bible anyway.
There is sufficient water on this planet to reach a height of 31,000 feet, possibly, according to the “scientists”.

As my highschool algebra teacher had to tell me over and over, “show your work”. We need a link to the “scientists” who claim that there is enought available water to cover the entire earth to a depth of 31,000 feet.

Just an observation: If we had lived 600ish years ago, we’d all believe the account of creation from the op’s post without hesitation. Just shows how much science can effect religion.

Not if you had been living in America, Australia and a lot of other places. 2009 - 600 = 1409.

When I was a kid we had one of those real skinny furnace stacks. So I found out that Santa has a “magic” key that fits all the houses that he cannot get down the chimney. His legacy carries on. 🙂

Leif Ericson, a Viking turned Catholic, established a settlement in North America.
Leif brought a Catholic priest with him on his trip to Greenland around 1000AD.

St Brendan, the Irish Catholic monk priest, set sail from Brandon Co. Kerry, Ireland around 560AD and found, possibly, North America. This was, I think after having a dream of an island in a desert far to the west.
👍

Funny guy, you changed the statement to say available water, I said water.

Anyway, there is a post, way back on this thread with a link to a recent article on water in the earths mantle. In it the scientists estimate that there is several times the amount of water in the mantle as there is in all the oceans and seas on the surface. With some rudimentary calculations the total amount of water on planet earth could possibly reach 31,000 feet in depth.
