I’ve noticed that several people have said this it isn’t true, but no one has said why it isn’t true, or how to avoid falling for things like this in the future.
My suggestion to you is to learn about cognitive and statistical biases. People think that they are far more rational than they really are. We all make choices and leap to conclusions without really thinking them out. The Bible Code is a prime example of this.
What the Bible Coders are doing is taking text and writing it out in a grid.

I didn’t do a perfect square because I didn’t feel like spending a long time formating, but you get the idea I hope. The grids aren’t standard sizes. The grid can be 5x5, 12x12, 21x21… it doesn’t matter at all. Then they do a skip search. They pick either 4th letter, or 6th letter, or even -3rd (meaning they can go back or forwards). They can also try different searches on the same square.
This is a prime example of something called “selection bias”. The problem is that they are constantly changing the search parameters until they find something. Given enough text, and a flexible enough skip search, you will always find meaningful messages. It would be impossible not to. People have recreated this effect with Mobey ****. But you could do it with any book that is long enough. (So, the Catholic Bible would actually be easier to find “codes” in than a protestant Bible because it is longer.)
Confirmation bias is also at work. Confirmation bias is when you only look at the information that confirms your theory, and ignore the information that would cause problems for the theory. People have used the same method that the Bible Coders use to find the following phrases in Bible Code:
God is Satan.
Satan is Lord of the world.
The Bible Code isn’t real.
Unless you find it likely that God is giving people the message that He is Satan, and is lying about giving you that message, then it throws doubt on the whole theory.
Instead of telling you not to watch a certain channel I would suggest learning more about critical thinking. Start asking yourself, "In order for this to be true, what would also need to be true, and possibly more importantly, what… if true… would prove this theory false. If you can answer that second question, you can actually test out theories for yourself.
Edit: I can’t believe this site won’t let me post the name of one of the most famous books in the English language. Especially considering that the word it bleeped out is an popular nickname.
Further Edit: Sometimes people following this code will point out that the “message” is one or two letters off. I just realized that if I had added one or two more words to that box I could have made the message “Sideline is right.”
