Brother Tony, :knight1:

One question! What are the Five things that Glorfinde is absolutely not allowed to believe as a member of the Reformed Episcopal Church? Tick tock, tick, tock ???

Oh,:doh2: I have another one:

OH yea of little faith…have you no faith at all? :console: You lost your trust in me?:bighanky:

We have to start somewhere might as well discuss the things we don’t agree on don’t you think? Oh, that was three questions! :imsorry: Sorry!

God Bless,

Rob
SK/GK/ACTS
Oh! Sorry:imsorry: :sad_bye: :bighanky:

**we (friends reading here and I) feel, that there’s a bit too much of sarcasm rising in this thread. This might be witty and entertaining, but in no way helpful.

And besides; shouldn’t we be more careful with holy things like a cross (Jesus almost flying off the cross by the cars speed).

Sarcasm hurts rather than it connects people.
Christians ought to (namely when they agree that everyone deserves love) seek for the common and connective between them, rather than the separating.

Why don’t we clearly point out what we really think differs in it’s declaration to Rom. Cath. translations - and then try to find what’s in common on the two translations. That would be the loving way, instead of announcing YOU ARE WRONG!

Dankt für Ihre Sorge Ihnen. Bemerkten Sie, dass ich Sie nicht angriff? Wir sind nach den schlechten. Sarkasmus ist mein Werkzeug. Witz mein Schwert.

**There’s on this thread a vote or poll going on about the question:
Is the Bible a Catholic book?
<
I voted with a firm YES for a very simple reason, and please keep in mind, that my parents where Protestants, and I had 3 protestant Priests in my family – one of them the brother of my father, who was very pro-Pope.
I remained being Catholic and I’m glad it came this this way.
Never the less my protestant father was very religious and surely now is in Gods kingdom.
There was just one Bible written. Of course the “Bible” consists of very many scripts. Explanations to this you find among others places, here:
gotquestions.org/

Now – when we talk about “The Bible”, we mostly mean the New Testament.
This was written about 70 after Christ’s birth up to 100 or even 150 a.C. It doesn’t really matter and let’s not argue about some irrelevant years.

In the 3rd Century Dionysius of Alexandria, Origenes and Eusebius von Caesarea called the well known and old seven letters (i.e., James, I and II Peter, I, II, and III John, and Jude) “Catholic Letters”. Catholic as καθολικος catholicos= universal= all-embracing – as it was ages before that. Long and more than 1,200 years later, Luther changed this and that slidely and put it in another order and made his translation a “Lutheran Bible”. So, the origin remains the Catholic Bible. The poll therefore must be a clear YES – unless one reads the Protestant version 😉
In that case of course “NO” IS RIGHT 🙂

The scriptures were written by and for our church. That is what Jimmy B tried to say, don’t you agree with that? Quote= Rob

onenow1, Indeed I do agree with Jimmy B, I voted yes.

Thanks for explaining my thoughts even further. 👍

Peace, onenow1 🍿 🙂

The web site is ant- Catholic and not a reliable source of information. I object to the a.c. designation as I believe it is ant-christian in origination. It was not written as late as 150 years and I don’t believe that the years are irrelevant. When I speak of the Bible, I mean all of Scripture.

Hi Bruno, :tiphat:

Bruno, Adrift is correct! 👍 Here in the USA, when we talk about the “Bible” :bible1: we mean both the Old and New Testements.
Other than that, I don’t agree with his opinions, except that he sure is allowed to have them! 😃

**We ought to try to understand each other, rather than find contrasts.

Of course “the Bible” is the whole literature of this canon of collected scripts; old and new alike. The Bible; the Holy Scriptures, where to Jesus the Old Testament, which He fulfilled.
To us it’s the New Testament of which St.Paul wrote in 2Cor 5:17 and following: „the old has gone, the new has come!“

Certainly the Old Testament remains in force and valid forever, but still; God gave us a “new contract” with the New Testament. To kind of “understand” God’s being and plans as far as we have to get them, we do need as fundament the Old Testament. God’s overwhelming love and His really wanting us to be with Him forever, gets explicitly clear in the New Testament. In fact, the New Testament is an “additive bonus” God gave us, as we proofed to be too narrow minded to fully understand and believe the Old Testament.
So the Holy Spirit on Pentecost served the dull lot of us with further prove.

Let’s remember though, that firm believe in God also is possible without a lot of studies of the Bible. Children do, and Jesus said in Mt 18:3: If you don’t believe as these Children, you won’t enter heaven!
All those many questions and statements reduce finally on one “God and I”

Excellent Post! 👍 “…the great thing in this world is not so much where we stand, as in what direction we are moving. To reach the port of heaven, we must sail sometimes with the wind and sometimes against it, but we must sail and not drift, nor lie at
anchor.”–Oliver Wendell Holmes

A ‘couple thoughts’, likely 4:
I voted NO, on Bible all Catholic, because God wanted Every Human to consider His teachings, not only Catholics. Indeed secular Law follows the Ten Commandments totally, generically. Rather foresightedly. Bearing False Witness is Felony Law Violation universaly in Western Legal Systems, not Christians, Jews only.

Bro Gentner is never wrong, sometimes! :extrahappy: ( but is Correct 99%, especially in overrview. Even underview, sometimes)

Christ hanging on to the Cross appears rather racey. But appearances can be deceiving.

Humor is unqestionably a great teacher, drawing attention. Unless questioned, of course. :grouphug: :aok: :pshaw:

My Bregenz Oestreich accented Deutsch is failing at past 3 AM. So Gruss Gott!

:amen: Mr Holmes. Don’t forget a paddle, like I did, when becalmed. And Docking is by Our Effort. No miraculous winds to Heaven without our involvement.
A book/instructor on how to handle sails, navigate can be helpful, if we want to go to The Port. The Book tells us that God gave us Truth, and free navigation, markers, in The Church He gave us.

**Thank’s Rob 😉 Is Rob Genter your real name? I suppose it’s Robert. My name is Bruno-Maria. Maria, ‘cos I was born 13th of October – last day of Maria’s appearance in Fatima. So my parents dedicated the baby to Mother Mary.
13th Mai 1917 and the following 13th of each month until the 13th Oct. Holy Mary appeared to the three children in Fátima. 13th of Oct. last day of Maria’s appearance, was the “Sun-Mirical” the crowd saw – see

“we must sail sometimes with the wind and sometimes against it, but we must sail and not drift, nor lie at

That’s exactly what our Roman Cath. Church does and this is pointed out in her Name: ECCLESIA SEMPER REFORMANDA.

Someone wrote in my forum: „Your Cath. Church doesn’t move an inch – our protestant church modernises all the time.
Quite wrong!
Reforming is not modernising.
Catholic Church’s reforming is strictly within the boundaries Jesus set, and nothing new, but better understanding the terms of reference Jesus gave us.
In other words: Strictly within the Holy Bible which is Catholic, as it’s meant and put down as the will of God for ALL people “universal”= Catholic!

Now – I often heard the sarcastic word: How do you know that’s the will of God?!
Firstly: If it was not, that means if the Bible was written by man, it wouldn’t have kept unchanged for thousands of years. It would be forgotten as so many eposes like Gilamesch, known just by some specialists.
Secondly: Its contents wouldn’t have given for thousands of years and will give for thousands of years to come, to so many so much purpose in life (where else there wouldn’t be any sense in it at all).
It’s the non-believers who keep asking; what am I living for – what’s the sense of my life? There is none to them; unless they think money – but what then?

Believers in God know why and what for they live – the Bible tells them - in Gods words!

**It’s an “ok” film. Not much more than ok. Among others, several German Churches ;). In fact just Catholic and Orthodox Churches and events. Both denominations are very much alike. Protestants left several, to both these Churches very important things behind, among them Eucharistie (German spelling) and all dogmas (or it is tenets?). One of them referring to Jesus’ Mother Mary, and just this one is ever so clear and naturally to be understood; but they refuse.

Now – as long as Protestants refuse those dogmas, all of which are very elemental and to be understood by any unstudied person, the gap between Catholic and Protestant will remain.
I can tell, for my parents (after the divorce and new marriage) inclusive my brother where/became Protestants and two of my uncles where protestant ministers. Very religious all of them though! Still it hurt me a lot when I was a child, that dad did not understand my devotion to Holy Mary – and several other things “typical Catholic”.

Let me go one step deeper into the matter:
Such film could be released about Moslems and Christians and Jews too. All three of them believe monotheistic - in the one and only God. The on first view only difference is: Jesus, whom they can’t accept as God nor Son of God or rescuer of the world.
To them, Jesus simply is “one of them Prophets” - might even be the greatest one of them. In the terms of that film, we might all the same say: “WE ALL ARE MONOTHEISTS, believing in this one God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.”
This is right and wrong at the same time.

So – sadly enough it’s the same with; “WE ARE ALL CHRISTIANS”.
Yes we are of course, but our brethren in Christ, miss a huge field of understanding God in His full disclosure, given be Jesus Christ (to an extend we are able to apprehend). In the case of Orthodoxy it’s not so much, but still: Jesus founded His Church (God’s Church as successor and legacy of the Jewish temple) not on several disciples or apostles, but on St. Peter only.

Let’s pray for a reunification of all Christian denominations and monotheist religions. We, living today, won’t live to see that though. Before God however, we are all alike, judged after our deeds, and Jesus goes further in Mat 10:32/33.

Still – it’s simply not enough, just to say “WE ARE ALL CRISTIANS!” Gaps have to be overcome first, to make it “one family”.

We have to work (not just pray) for a better understanding of our brethren in the one and only God who is the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Loving explanation wherever we are in all situations and everyday (even smalltalk), might help a lot 😃

**Hi Bruno, :tiphat:

Guten Abend, Bruno. Wie Ghets? :byzsoc: The New Testament is the fullfilment of the Many prophecies of the Old Testament. :bible1: And literal Me and God, or Me and the Bible is all necessary is Proven to Rarelly work. The Me, I, My opinion soon control. And Views of Church and reality alter. Have Friends who are “Bible Only”. That is why Our Lord gave us the Apostles, The Church, the :Pope with Keys to Heaven to him, 7 Sacraments, and Authority to teach His Truths, His way.

And 1 Tmothy 3:15 tells us that The Truth on Earth is in The Church, the Apostles, now Bishops. :highprayer:

Tony my brother were you drunk? 😃
AS JA4 would say: “Not sure what you are saying. Can you clarify?”🤷

Hey don’t yell, my head hurts “sand” , on another thread, is driving me crazy! :banghead:

Vivat Jesus! :knight1:

**As we all clearly see, those “Bible Only”-friends are misled and their believe is a perverted sight of Christianity. No further explanation needed, for the New Testament tells us all about this.

If they say “Churches are satanic creations of Men” they are nearer to Satanists then to our, Gods own Church.
They surely couldn’t be friends of mine, even though I’d try to tell them how wrong they are at first.

But if they don’t want to listen, I’d turn away and wouldn’t waist my time on them, as said in Luke 9:5 and others: “When they don’t want to listen, shake the dust off your feet when you leave them, as a testimony against them.”

I very often indeed, face the problem, that even some Catholics are terribly narrow-minded as far as they ever so clear things of Jesus words, missinterpret in an appalling way. In that case it’s harder to tell them, then to complete non-believers, for stupidity and narrow-mindedness is a disastrous illness, “even Gods fight against all in vain”*. But even if they die asininely, they’ll see the truth finally and slap their forhead.
  • could anybody tell me, how that word is properly said please:o
