Parade Shills for PBS to Get $400 Million in Federal Funding

NPR affiliates support one-sided poll that equates yes and no votes with ‘supporting Big Bird; or give him the ax.’

 The headline for the poll may as well have read “Vote Yes to Save PBS,” but the editors at Parade magazine didn’t go quite that far.

  A poll on Parade’s Web site posted on May 4 ask respondents how Congress should vote on supporting PBS with $400 million in funding, or as they put it – “whether to continue supporting Big Bird – or give him the ax.” And on top of that, NPR affiliates have joined in a campaign to skew the poll’s results.

   “In the next few months, Congress will decide whether to continue supporting Big Bird – or give him the ax. Public broadcasting gets around $400 million annually from the U.S. government, which covers about 15% of local station budgets. (Most shows are funded primarily by producers, viewer donations, private foundations and corporations.) Now the Bush Administration has proposed cutting funding by half,” Lyric Wallwork Winik and Mark Naymik wrote for Parade on May 4.

  Aside from having the language of the poll slanted, several NPR affiliates are circulating e-mail and posting messages on their Web sites encouraging listeners to vote for Congress to fund PBS. WITF, an NPR affiliate in Pennsylvania had the following message:

“If you believe that the federal government should continue its support for PBS, NPR and local Public Television and Radio stations, please go to [the Web site] and vote YES!

In its most recent edition, PARADE magazine posed the question of whether the federal government should continue its support for PBS and, by implication, NPR and the entire Public Broadcasting industry as well. PARADE magazine is distributed by more than 400 Sunday newspapers, including several in central Pennsylvania. While this is an unscientific poll put forward by one magazine, because of its wide circulation – estimated at 32 million households – the results of the poll could have an impact on policy-makers who must make funding decisions under difficult fiscal constraints.”

 Parade magazine also included a liberal media pundit to give his thoughts on PBS funding.

 “Responds Eric Boehlert, senior fellow at Media Matters, a nonprofit media watchdog group: ‘PBS is a success story for the government, ranking up there with the national parks. Any cuts would hurt the millions of people who can’t or won’t pay for cable,’” Winik and Naymik wrote.

 The Media Research Center has long shown that PBS and NPR have a history of displaying a liberal tilt funded by taxpayer dollars.

Look again. They were founded with and continue to accept millions of tax dollars. They are a “corporation” like the Federal Reserve is just a corporation. In the interim, it seems like tax policy has shifted to give breaks to big corporate donors.

Where in the world are you getting this from? This is utter nonsense.

There are manuscript fragments of the New Testament dating from the early second century (some are possibly from the late first century). There are quotations from the New Testament in the ante-Nicene Fathers, and second century references refer to “the four gospels.”

a tool used in spreading the faith. Just happened to be that the tool held inspired books of God’s revelation to Man. And many copies and translations since…

Does this make sense?

To find an “original” bible that dates back to the days of Moses would be impossible as it doesn’t exist, just letters and books passed down over 100’s of generations. War, disasters would also destroy these documents of faith and they would have to be reproduced.

Nobody expects an original manuscript of a single bound collection.

All that matters is that Jesus was present in the beginning and exaulted at the end.

Actually the history of the scriptures is a fascinating one. And it the whole story is important to the evangelical enterprise. It “all” matters.

Wyatt’s research in the Gulf of Aqaba has produced some physical evidence that supports that location. However, there are also artifacts from Crete, that support the “Sea of Reedsl” route.

What is really needed, is for Muslim governments to lift the ban on Islamic Studies, permitting both archeologists and historians to do research in the ground.

All of the New Testament was written before the end of the first century. That means, before the year 100 AD.

For me, the question has always been this: Do you believe in Judeo-Christian salvation history, whereby God chose to reveal Himself gradually, first to and through the Jews, and then to and through the Christian community? The answer has always been ‘yes’. Therefore, the details of the Bible don’t really matter to me as much as they do to others. The Bible is a *by-product *of a long, providential journey. The Bible consists of the documented impressions of some of our more enlightened so-journers. In so being, it will always be ‘valid’ to me, no matter what anyone might say, supposedly ‘uncover’ or reveal. I focus on Jesus, and the ‘bigger picture’, concerning His people and their past. I’m so very grateful to be a part of it.

The Public Broadcasting System (PBS), probably the most liberal network in America, will present a program this fall that says the Old Testament is a bunch of made-up stories that never happened.**

Thus, the attacks on Christianity build further, in anticipation of the coming to power of the various anti-Christs in the US.

Not much of a surprise.

The attacks will get worse, and soon be at the point where to simply profess to BE a Christian (Catholic of otherwise) will be a “human rights violation” worthy of fines, imprisonment and worse.
