I agree. That was superb, concise and to the point. I learned much.FCEGM,
Nicely doneā¦a careful and thorough analysis of the points made by others.
No, they just come down from on high, impregnate young girls, and go back up. Today, we call them rapists and fornicators.Uhhhhhā¦Actually Mary married Joseph. The Holy Spirit doesnāt have a spouse. He is a God and Gods donāt have spousesā¦
Earlier, you said it was a claim that originated 400 years after Christ. I guess, there has been some improvement of your history. So when do you think the āProtoevangelium of Jamesā was written? Iāve never heard anyone assert it was not written within at least the first generation after the death of the last original Apostle. From Old Scholar: Since the Scriptures tell us Jesus had brothers and sisters and refers to the first bishop of the church (James) as the Lordās brother, more than once; and since there was no claim that Mary remained a virgin for the first two hundred years
From Old Scholar: I have quoted, numerous times, the Scriptures that name brothers and speak of sisters of Jesus. We all know Mary was the mother of Jesus and she was married to Joseph. So where did those children come from except from Mary and Joseph? For some reason, the Scripture writer didnāt think it important to tell us who their parents were. They told us often the name of the father of most of the Apostles. They do that traditionally as the name of the parent means something. Why didnāt they tell us that James was the son of Joseph and Mary? That would certainly significant. For you to continually deny that this is a possibility is an effort for you to add your opinion 2,000 years after the fact to the Scripture. Pretty darn arrogant if you ask me.
YOu know this how? Can I apply your standard to yourself noted below? From Old Scholar: Joseph and Mary were about the same age and there is no reason to believe Joseph had been married.
From Old Scholar: There again, you are making the claim that is not supported by Scripture so the burden of proof is up to you. Oh you can make your assumptions, claim implication, use a few maybes and so on but we have definitive Scripture that states that Jesus had brothers and sisters and names the brothersāhow much more do you want?
Is there any evidence from the early church fathers that Peter was in Babylon?Actually you have it backwards. You are the one saying Peter was using a code word for Rome. Peter says he was in Babylon. Therefore it is up to you to prove it was not Babylon, not up to me to prove it was. Get real!
Good luck getting a response. From the Old Scholar:
Is there any evidence from the early church fathers that Peter was in Babylon?
Also, I know a favorite argument of the quoted position is that Babylon wasnāt code for āRomeā unitl later in the first century. Is there any Biblical evidence for such a defense?
HiSure, if Mary wasnāt the spouse of the Holy Spirit. But she was. And St Joseph knew that. He was a righteous man (Mt 1:19).
Of course I understand. I just donāt agree.Hi
I think Spirits donāt have spouses. Mary was a feminine human being, and had Joseph as her husband ( Jesus was born without father) , so that proves, in my opinion that she had a human spouse not a Spirit. I think now you understand.
Thanks
And you donāt agree becauseā¦?Of course I understand. I just donāt agree.
