Earlier, you said it was a claim that originated 400 years after Christ. I guess, there has been some improvement of your history. So when do you think the “Protoevangelium of James” was written? I’ve never heard anyone assert it was not written within at least the first generation after the death of the last original Apostle.

From Old Scholar: I have quoted, numerous times, the Scriptures that name brothers and speak of sisters of Jesus. We all know Mary was the mother of Jesus and she was married to Joseph. So where did those children come from except from Mary and Joseph? For some reason, the Scripture writer didn’t think it important to tell us who their parents were. They told us often the name of the father of most of the Apostles. They do that traditionally as the name of the parent means something. Why didn’t they tell us that James was the son of Joseph and Mary? That would certainly significant. For you to continually deny that this is a possibility is an effort for you to add your opinion 2,000 years after the fact to the Scripture. Pretty darn arrogant if you ask me.

From Old Scholar: Joseph and Mary were about the same age and there is no reason to believe Joseph had been married.

YOu know this how? Can I apply your standard to yourself noted below?

Oh you can make your assumptions, claim implication, use a few maybes and so on but we have definitive Scripture that states that Jesus had brothers and sisters and names the brothers—how much more do you want?

Is there any evidence from the early church fathers that Peter was in Babylon?
Also, I know a favorite argument of the quoted position is that Babylon wasn’t code for “Rome” unitl later in the first century. Is there any Biblical evidence for such a defense?

Some of these antagonistic, anti-Catholic posters use the old “hit and run” tactic. They blurt out ridiculous claims, then when they’re proven wrong, they don’t come back to respond - because they CAN’T.
It’s becoming an epidemic on this board.

Sure, if Mary wasn’t the spouse of the Holy Spirit. But she was. And St Joseph knew that. He was a righteous man (Mt 1:19).

I think Spirits don’t have spouses. Mary was a feminine human being, and had Joseph as her husband ( Jesus was born without father) , so that proves, in my opinion that she had a human spouse not a Spirit. I think now you understand.
