Isn’t that the point. They make it so confusing that no one can understand it and you have to blindly follow them?
I don’t blindly follow anything. I study. What you find is that there is consistency of teaching with the RCC. Papal infallibility does not mean the man is perfect or even that he is moral. It does mean as he teaches with regard to doctrine and morals he is not allowed to teach against established teaching.

Did you know the apocryphal books were used long before canon was set? Clement in 90 AD refers to Judith. The book of Hebrews refers to 2 Maccabees. Athenasius is the first to list the books we know as the NT 230 AD. So, I wouldn’t say the Catholic church added anything. These books were referred to in the NT as well as the Early Church Fathers. I think you can say protestants took them out. Luther wanted not only to get rid of the Deuterocanonical books but also the book of James. The first protestant bibles to exclude these DC was in the 1800s.
False. These books were added in the 1600’s, I believe. They were not “voted in” in the original cannonized books of the bible.

Praying to the dead is a moral issue.

Believing that Mary did not die and is able to help you work out you salvationis a moral issue.

Consumming alchohol and gambling are moral issues that are used as fundraisers within the church.
Christians who die are alive in Christ not dead. It is different than medium type work. Christians are always a part of the body of christ. You are just as much a part of the body of christ when you are dead as when you are alive. The resurection will happen.

Catholics believe Mary recieved the promise for all christians right away. You look forward to the return of christ in which you will be caught up. Is that immoral? No of course not but if you say that and are Catholic maybe its a problem? Mary assist with salvation in the sence that she prays for you. If I pray for you and preach the gospel to you I also assist but I don’t give you salvation. That gift is from God. This is how Catholics view it.

Alcohol is not a sin. Gettng drunk is. One does not equate to the other. I’ve seen Protestant churches take advantages of raffles. How is that any different?

People actually whorship the pope. I know you will argue this, but they fall at his feet, kiss his hand, and kneel down before him. They hang pictures of him in their homes and many people pray to him too. The church sold pictures of Jesus that they said would bring prosparity to the buyer of such pictures. There are many such teachings like this done by the pope in his infallable voice.

No. Study it. The DC books are referred to in the NT. The book of Hebrews refers to 2 Maccabees. The ECF quote extensively from the DC. The council of Trent (which I believe you are referring to) just affirms continued use. Before Luther it really wasn’t that much in question. And look at the Early KJV of the Bible you will find Appendix with the DC. You are mistaken. Any bible scholar would tell you that.

Baptised Catholic, attend church regularly,
receive the Eucharist, only if reconciled, but still have some doubts about some of the rules of the church. But I Know Jesus loves me as I am So My Priest tells me:)
OIC. Yes. So long as one can submit one’s doubts to Him and trust that He will reconcile all of them in time. There are few who have not had conflicts with some doctrine or another. It is a humble and obedient faith, not the sure knowledge of everything that He desires from us.

I could use your argument and say people worship Rick Warren because they buy his books have pictures of him in their homes. Though as yet I don’t think anyone kisses his hand. Yes there are ignorant Catholics who don’t know what they believe just like protestants (and you keep jumping from issue to issue). I don’t believe there are any catholics who actually pray to Pope Benedict. Nonsense. The pope doesn’t have an infallible voice. He speaks ex cathedra (from the chair). And we’ve already discussed the actual doctrine of infalliblity which has nothing to do with his voice.

It’s different because I would not attend a false church as you have discribed. Alcohol is a sin to those who are weak in the flesh. Any one who drinks in front of an alcoholic, is sinning by causing that brother to fall. So if you are having a drink in private and see nothing wrong, it is one thing, but I preach on the square on Fridays to the drunks of our town. Can you guess how many of the people we talk to are catholics who say they are saved through the church even though they can’t even walk straight from the gross amount of alcohol they have consumed. They have no intention of attending church on any sort of regular basis, but they are told they can work out their salvation, so that’s what they think they are doing. As long as they don’t kill anyone, they are fine. This is the real version of catholics. Most of them attend church on Christmas and Easter yet defend their faith as true and they are on their way to hell with a warm fuzzy feeling in their heart that catholics are the true church.

I feel Rick Warren is a false teacher too. He may be saved, but he teaches false doctrine.

I have sat in peoples homes who near death look up to the picture of the pope hanging on the wall, begging him for forgiveness.

I agree (and most catholics will as well) its wrong to tempt anyone to sin. And I’m sure there are Catholics who are alchoholics. There are protestants also. Do you know how many protestants I know who are addicted to pornography? They all claim OSAS and believe their one event saves them. I don’t see your point. Hypocracy are in both places. Even in your church I am sure since its made up of people. Catholics getting drunk are working against their professed faith. The chruch does not teach this behavior is ok. Do yo teach pornography is ok? I don’t see how your argument follows.

Pray to the dead.

That Mary has not died.

Call no man father.

All food is clean(meat is not to be consumed on Fridays in lent.)
*I have answered your questions on these issues and you persist with them which is not very intelligent is it? Guanophore also answered you.

This shows without a doubt that you are not on this thread with serious intentions to debate, share and learn.

This is not a good attitude and you should be ashamed!

Oh Man! To say that we pray to the dead!!! You demonstrate that you do not believe in the Resurrection and Eternal Life which means you do not believe in Salvation which means it is doubtful that you believe in Christianity at all!

One of these days Hank will declare himself a doctor of the church!! I told him that his utterances are inaccurate but he will insist.

It would be an intelligent thing to go back to the drawing board and learn some stuff before making these ridiculous statements.

But he won’t listen!:doh2: :doh2: :doh2: :doh2: :hypno: :whacky:

My church had a huge event on porn Sunday. It had such a large turn out. Porn stars were invited to be part of a panel to discuss this topic. The news paper made a large deal of it.

The catholic chrches I have attended have used alchol in every of the events they held for raising money. Gambling is another addiction that the catholic church thrives on. These are both spoken of as sin in the church I attend. Bible preaching churches are not part of a massive church as is the catholic church. For you to compare all bible teaching churches as one in the same is actually very far from truth. You do realize that, don’t you?

I asked you where I could read it for myself. I was only given your opinion.

About OSAS. My husband told me he was reading in a book that at the time of the reformation, when the OSAS idea first emerged the brothels filled up because men thought “Oh boy - I am saved so…” I have been hunting all over for the book. When I find it I will elaborate. You might know something about this.🙂

You say that as if the RCC doesn’t use scripture. They do. A lot of it. Check out the liturgy of the hours. Attend mass. Yes “bible” churches are many and they all have differing opions to what the bible actually means. Some are OSAS others are Free will or Armeniest, some are against music, some have alcohol others, think any alcohol is sinful, on and on. BTW show me scripture that says gambling is wrong. I want to see how on your toes you are.

come on wake up man…gesh.
how many of those drunken catholics have lost their faith because of people like you?
next thing you know you will be calling all of us here drunks…oh yeah: you just did…
i am still shocked by the hateful and degrading way your kind speak to a fellow christian.
if i were to speak like that to you you would cry “you aren’t showing charity” …
i know i can still look at myself in the mirror after posting here,i don’t know how you would be able to.
Hank Z tell me how do you have any clue that the book you call Holy is indeed the word of God…

I asked you where I could read it for myself. I was only given your opinion.
Ok Hebrews (look for yourself) 11:35 it says this
35Women received back their dead, raised to life again. Others were tortured and refused to be released, so that they might gain a better resurrection.
Tell me what event is this talking about in the OT? You won’t find it but you will find it in 2 Maccabees 7.

fun speaking with you Hank. I think you really need to do some actual research on how the bible was put together and you’ll learn about such things as the LXX etc. I’m off to bed. Maybe I’ll see what you say tomorrow. Also pick up a CCC and actually learn what the RCC actually teaches. Anyway may God make his face to shine upon you.

This is where I may be able to help you. OSAS is not a no holds bar in that you are free to do whatever when ever. I understand that people have been mislead by this idea. Once a person, like myself, is saved, they do not want to sin any longer. not that the pleasures of this life are not tempting, and I’m certainly not free from sinning, but forgiven regardless. I would have unbelievable guilt if I were to participate in something as disgusting as sex with a prostitute. This would be a sin against God who has given me the very breath in my lounges yet I would not loose my salvation. This is the difference between OSAS and works type salvation. As a catholic, I was taught that unless your good deeds added up to higher than your bad deeds, you would have to find extra favor with the saints and with Mary to pray for your soul and even then, you would have to be purged of sins in the purgatory realm. I can sin, but I cannot loose my salvation. This is the peace that Christ has given His followers. We can attain peace in this life. Once you truely knoww Jesus, you step out of the fallen world and into the Kingdom of God.
