Stop flattering yourself!!! I am NOT eyeing you up !!!

Well, thats probably a good thing for you. It wouldn’t be good for the discussion if your were overcome by horror and disgust.
I was thinking of those old paintings that seem to follow the viewer.

😦

That was a little over the top, Realcatholicgk. We shouldn’t laugh at them-- I’m sure most of them are sincere, although they seem to be unknowledgable about Catholic doctrine.
I apologize, HankZ. 😦

Anyway, did you see my last post?

And, Realcatholicgk, although I mostly agree with you, that the Protestant Revolt was basically a stint with early theological humanism and liberalism, you should not insult Protestants like that. That only hardens people against the Church’s holy message.
Regarding private interpretations see 2 Peter 3:16

*ā€œFor there are many things in scripture that are hard to understand which ignorant and unstable people distort as they do the other scriptures to their destruction.ā€ 😦 😦

Why don’t you hold protestants to the same standard? Leave each denomination for bad leaders they possess.

Hi Sambo, šŸ‘‹
What makes you think Hanz doesn’t jump denominations? If you leave Jesus, why would you stop searching? It is his soul that is lost and searching. He really needs our prayers. Do you actually think his picture of the priests in his life is true? I have been a catholic for 64 years. I have met maybe 5 out of the Hundreds of priest I have met that i might critize if I didn’t realize that they also were humans and sinners. They aren’t saints just priests. Time for me to re-publish:

Church is not Wal-Mart

[NB. Permission to repost/copy with proper attribution is given.]
  1. The Roman Catholic Church isn’t WalMart or Burger King; it’s the
    Body of Christ.
2). Catholic priests, nuns, sisters/brothers and laity aren’t
employees; we are members of the Body of Christ.

3). The doctrine and dogma of the Catholic Church are not consumer
products that the Church’s employees sell to those who want them;
Catholic doctrine and dogma express the unchanging truth of the faith.

4). Life in a Catholic parish is not a trip to Disney Land or Target or McDonald’s where your consumer needs and whims are catered to by the whimpering clergy and lay staff; parish life is the life of Christ for the local Catholic family.

5). You do not come into the Catholic Church b/c you like the building
better than you like the Methodist chapel; or because the priest at the Catholic parish is cuter than the Baptist preacher; or because you heard that the homilies are shorter at St. Bubba’s by the Lake than they are at the Unitarian Church. You come into the Catholic Church because you believe that the Catholic faith is the truth of the gospel taught by Christ himself and given to his apostles.

6). Leaving the Catholic Church because a priest was mean to you, or
because sister whacked you with a ruler, or because the church secretary looked at you funny is as stupid as giving up on the truths of math because you hate your high school algebra teacher. Why would anyone let a crazy priest or a cranky nun or anyone else for the matter drive you out of the faith you believe is true? My only conclusion: you never thought it was true to begin with; or, you have a favorite sin the Church teaches against and crazy priests and cranky nuns is as good an excuse as any to leave and pursue your sin all the while feeling justified b/c Father and/or Sister are such jerks.

7). Anyone who comes in the Catholic Church thinking that they will find clouds of angels at Mass dressed as parishioners; hordes of perfect saints kneeling for communion; seminaries packed with angelic young men burning to be priests; a parish hall stacked to the ceiling with morally pure people eager to serve; and a priest without flaw or blemish, well, you’re cracked and you probably need to go back and try again. Telling Catholics that they aren’t perfect makes as much sense as telling fish they’re wet. We know already. Move on.

8). Of the hundreds of priests and religious I know, I know two whocould count as saints right now. The rest of us are deeply flawed, impure, struggling creatures who know all too well that we fail utterly to meet the basic standards of holiness. For that matter: so do you. Get in line.

9). The Catholic Church owes no one a revision of her doctrine or dogma. She didn’t change to save most of Europe from becoming Protestant, why would you imagine that she would change just to get you in one of her parishes?

10). If you want to become Catholic, do it. But do it because you think the Church teaches the true faith. If a cranky priest on a blogsite is enough to keep you from embracing the truth of the faith, then two things are painfully clear: 1) you do not believe the Church teaches the faith; 2) and you care more about expresssing your hurt consumer feelings than you do for your immortal soul.

Well, I didn’t read all of the post but the first got my attention. I believe that what he says about the priest he met is truthful. I was also raised catholic. I went to perochial schools (though you couldn’t tell by my bad spelling) for grade school and junior high. My family though very catholic were adulterers, some were alcoholics. The Priest seemed very liberal in their views and behaviors. I’ve come accross all sorts of false teachings by catholic practitioners and some brothers were also at fault. In the end I never really new Jesus though I do remember defending the Eucharist when I was 10 to an agnostic though, I didn’t really believe it either. My mother who read me stories of saints (which are fond memories for me) also read tarot cards and befriended people and accepted their homosexual lifestyles. She dabled in some hinduism as well. She almost believes in a univeralist type of Catholism where all religions are ok. I didn’t really hear the gospel until I came accross some protestant missionaries. I hungered so much for Jesus and the scriptures that I left the church at 15 because from personal experience I thought they could not have practitioners that were as carnal as any pagans and be Christ true church. I’ve learned a lot since then (26 years ago) and am now reconsidering Catholicism again. However, it seems to me had I remained Catholic I would have died in my sins not fully understanding church doctrine. I think Hank has the same issue. Which is why I’m speaking to him. Though protestants I’ve actually learned more about the catholic faith and have had the strength to live more rightly than before. However, its seems that the Holy Spirit is drawing me to his Sacraments. The thing is I think many Catholics are carnal because they are not only not Catechized properly but they take their baptism for granted since it happens at a young age. Even though they cross themselves with holy water to remind them of their baptism. Jo Blow (purposely general here) Catholic may not even know that the holy water is meant for that purpose. I’ve found there are good parishes and bad ones. Hank and I were part of bad ones. I have a divorsed friend who told me how a priest approached her for sex which made her want to leave. So you can see how catholics not properly taught, confronted with uninformed priest, are abused by the very church that is supposed to protect them are leaving or have issues. Too many people here on this site blow these things off. But that is why the hemerage of believers to Protestantism. These people just want the Lord and those tares in the church are supporting their cause. When you’re hurt enough you respond not by reason but by instinct. One think Hank does know when he was Catholic he wasn’t really a believer but know that he has a ā€œpersonal relationshipā€ with Jesus he is. However, since he’s acting off experience he’s not seriously looking at the fact that the church may have been right but the people were dead wrong and will pay the price for it. And here is the dicotomy. in as much as you receive the Sacraments they are pointless if you really have no faith and continue to sin. In fact you condemn yourself more for participating in the Sacraments and continue in sin. Jesus makes it clear. We must be like him and love others and be changed. The sacraments help with his grace but for those who insist on not allowing the grace to fill them are only self decieved. I’m rambling but these are my thoughts and I humbly submit them for you I know I will be criticised but remember I’ve been able to distiguish between the truth and the experience. I’m just relating how I view Hank and his issues with the church as it relates to my experience.

On the first page, you said that Jesus blood, flowed through Mary.
This is not true. A child has his own blood and it never mixes with that of his mother. Mary had the blood of a sinner same as you and me. Would you like to go through the entire biological process so you better understand?
These are horrible! You should be repenting of such outragious filth and begging God to forgive you for whorshipping an idol like this false image of this Mary you are so obsessed with. How dare you take what Christ has done and take the Glory due to Him and put it on this false Mary idol. Christ cannot be sacrificed anymore, He said, ā€œIt is finished.ā€

Your lack of understanding of what you read is obviously a major barrier for you.
And considering this is your only rubuttal to all the information provided, you obviously have no support to refute these posts which must be very frustrating. But truth is truth and cannot be anything else.

Hi Sambos:)

I don’t have much time on the computer, but I just came across your post and I wanted to thank you for your genuine honesty and heartfelt words.

I hope nobody criticizes you for what you posted, as I see nothing but sincerity and a heart searching for truth.

God bless you!

I thought you claimed to be Cathloic? You don’t know why it is wrong to eat meat? Here is why, because you have to do something in order to feel that you are working out your salvation. If you are not working at it, then you have dead works, in which case you will not be able to enter heaven. Work, work, work. And if you say enough Hail Mary’s, and you beg Peter to intercede with Mary, and you find all these other Saints to put you on their intercesary list to present to God endlessly, you just might get to go to purgatory, but only if your a really, really good boy or girl. K?

The alternative to working out your own salvation is to trust God has given you a way to be saved as is told in God’s word if you only take the time to see it. You would learn that you can do nothing to earn the free gift of salvation, it has to be given.
Ahhh yes! The simple Grace through faith that the evil thief on the cross found when Jesus said to him, ā€œTODAY you will be with me in Paradise!ā€. They just don’t get it, do they!?

In the end times it will be like the days of Noah. They didn’t believe until the water reached their necks.
and we will be there HankZ !standing on the rock which our Lord and Saviour built for us:watching at the edge with hands strectched out to snatch you away from the eternal fire to come!.

Wow. That’s just vile. How do you know how Hank will end up. And ā€œnot everyone who calls me Lord, Lordā€ will enter into heaven.

Ask your priest or look it up. If God were really guiding your infallable Popes, you wouldn’t have things like that called sin and then…oops…changed.! And of course you have the fact that until relatively recently it was a SIN to read the Bible! Which infallable pope thunk that one up, and which one infallably unthunk it? Ahhhh, marvelous succession!
where do you get these amazing ā€œfactsā€ from…lol…
if you bothered to read any thing else posted you see the discipline regarding abstaining from meat as it is a sin to disobey the teaching of the Church…since the Church has authority from God to disobey His Church is to disobey Him…
A sin to read the bible…lol funny man funny…
seriously where did you come up with this gem?

where HankZ is now, in his life,is not on the rock our Lord built for us.flood waters that wash away things do not go slowly, thus suddenly it will be upon one
.i as a Catholic am standing on the rock Jesus built for us,to await His coming.
i don’t see how it could be considered vile…would you rather i stand there on the edge laughing and pointing my finger between fits of giggling i taunt with with the words HELLBOUND…
read a bit more of scripture my friend St.Peter in his letters refers to the end as ā€œthe very elements being melted by fireā€ā€¦

Oh Mr. Fbl9 I do read scripture and either expression you mention towards Hank sounds like taunting. Remember what Paul says (and its appropiate since this is the year of the Apostle Paul).
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but** have not love**, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal

Hank has been wronged by the very church thats supposed to save him. Taunting does not bring people to the Lord just causes bitterness and strife. My idea of love is service. He’s not right. That’s fine to say he’s not right. What is not right is to basically say ā€œyour going to burn baby!ā€ almost in a gloating manner. Hey you hope in your salvation but who knows you may not finish the race. I pray it is not so but its a possibility. Paul also says that you should take care not to offend a weaker brother. Paul also says ā€œI am all things to all men so that some may be saved.ā€

Wow. My bad. I had facts wrong. Until Vatica II it was a sin for a Catholic to read a Bible produced by a non-Catholic. Now its not a sin. Also used to be a sin to go to a protestant Bible study. Now it is not a sin. That’s amazing

Well, I didn’t read all of the post but the first got my attention.

&c…&c…&c…&c…

I know I will be criticised but remember I’ve been able to distiguish between the truth and the experience. I’m just relating how I view Hank and his issues with the church as it relates to my experience.
**Hi Sambo, Excellent insight! šŸ‘ Or as PeterJ would say: ā€œvery Catholic of you! šŸ™‚ The only criticism I could have is the one I have to be very careful about myself. Anyone who makes an absolute statement is absolutely wrong, Every time! 😃 **
**Reference Holy water, informed Catholics believe that if you make a 'correctā€ sign of the cross (Not some mystical waving of the hand through space) and say in your mind :" In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit" You are reafirming your baptism and you receive a 10,000 day indulgence from purgatory. Some don’t know it, some don’t believe it, and some don’t care. It isn’t important for our salvation to believe everything we just have to accept them as bearing truth! In the care of indulgences, it is very important to me personally that I reduce my sentence as much as possible! 😃 but if we are wrong, what did it hurt? We aren’t worshiping the water! The Catholic church teaches that if you don’t know a thing is sinful you commit no sin! If you believe a thing helps you stay away from sin, what does it hurt to use it? When you are praying the rosary you can’t be thinking unpure thoughts! **

**I am a ā€œborn againā€ Cradle Catholic, there are many of us actually. I was born and raised Catholic went through parochial school all the way through High school. Attended Lutheran Collage for my Bachelor degree, non secular for MBA. Spent 27 years in Army. Got ā€œrebornā€ by accepting Christ as my personal savor on 14 Nov 1976. Take a lot of flack from judgemental Catholics. Never cared. Those who understand their personal rrelationship with Jesus, understand. Those that don’t, are lost anyway! To be a Catholic and also have a sincere close relationship with Jesus is a gift I didn’t deserve but cherish and thank Jesus for everyday! **

I have a few favoriate sayings that really sums up my personal beliefs if I could be so bold! They might help explain Why the Catholic Church isn’t wrong! (The OP rules!) Then again, they may just entertain or bore you!

going by the current state of catholics i think it was very prudent to have to obey the former disciplines…seriously why would any one want to read something that is not complete?
honestly i can’t think of any good reason to attend a protestant bible ā€œstudyā€ as a means of furthering my faith.
give me one reason to accept the Hebrew cannon.
why would any one accept a group’s opinion as to what the word of God consists of,when that same group rejected the word of God made flesh?

Gee… So why did we have a family (Catholic) bible in my house growing up…
I know better…kindly take your anti Catholic lies else where…It won’t hold water here.
